Excellent work. What feders are they? It's nice to see some of the more historical looking ones being used.

This is fantastic. And so much fun to watch. Looking forward to more videos of this kind. It is also an excellent representation of what it is we are training to achieve (which in my case I'll probably never will at that level since I am at the start of my journey and I started old ;-)). Anyways, I really enjoyed this Video.

Like the sword play and the intensity of it , Is this all about closing and striking the head? Please get rid of the feders it takes away from the realism of the fight.

Hello dear Ronald. At first, thank you for watching us and writing a commentary. I have also looked at your channel in reward, and please do not get me wrong, but I am not sure if we are on the same page here. In order to avoid hypocrisy, its obvious our activity follows different goals and methods to get there. To get rid of "feders" would be difficult for us, since we do not use neither the word feder, nor anything related to it. You can do a little research on this topic. As it is written in the description of our channel, we are central European based international company following our traditional form of historical fencing. So once again thanks for being with us. I wish you successfull days full of joy with your students. We are also very happy if our channel helps other people to get some knowledge about traditional form of fencing. Have a great one!

Thank you for your timely response. Perhaps I am just an old traditionalist; that one should train with the "tools of the trade" as opposed to the training sword( that I refer too as feders) that you a clearly using. If you are training in longsword or any other weapon type then it should be that weapon (blunted of course). Each variation of said weapon will act slightly different when executing the desired technique. This in turn allows the practitioner to learn what traits they desire most from there weapon and in turn increases there skill and knowledge. I am in no way dismissing the skill and training that you and other students are learning and enjoy many of your posted videos. Just that you are doing yourself ( and the various organizations HEMA, ARMAA, guilds, ect.) a disservice by not actively using proper styled sword in your sparring and tournaments. Again perhaps I am just an old Knight ( yes, I do hold two knighthoods) shouting into the wind. @@fencersguild-guildamgladia2485

Hi again. You can read Henry Walker's "What is feder" article. Its well done. We issued some results of our humble research on the term Feder years back. The term related to some sword form is strictly modern/american creation. No relevance to any historical swords. So, we do use swords based on historical finds. We call them training swords or Paratenschwerter. Congrats to your knighthood. Being apointed twice is surely a unique achievement. Still it is a bit irrelevant to our previous exchange. We wish you great time in training of historical or any other fencing. Who knows, we may meet personally some day. We ll be surely looking forward to it. With hope you did not find my way of communication offending, I wish you a great day.

Super late peanut gallery, but it feels like you guys are talking past each other a bit. Fencersguild- Whatever you personally choose to call them, he's talking about the training swords commonly known as feders. I think you got off into the weeds on terminology and didn't make your point about goals clear, judging by his reaction. Ronald-they are trying to recreate historic fencing schools, rather than trying to simulate literal fighting with sharps. These fencing schools used feders and certain customs (no thrusts) that allowed them to practice more safely. It's a bit like if you were trying to recreate 1920s style boxing with the old style leather gloves and someone comes along says why don't you use bare fists and kicks to better simulate a street fight. It's just not what they are trying to recreate.

This is a really great way to get grievously injured and set HEMA’s progress as a sport back decades.
@fencersguild-guildamgladia2485
Dear sir, please watch the video related to our tournament marked 1. There you can review about the safety. Your concern is correct in terms of sport logic. We do not pursue sport. Therefore we follow different training methods and reaching different results. Still thanks for your comment. HEMA as sport should not be connected to anything historical or traditional. As you pointed, that could send it back in its progress.

@@fencersguild-guildamgladia2485 No, my logic is correct using any logic. You guys aren’t even wearing goggles. Someone is going to lose an eye or worse, and it will be all your fault.
@fencersguild-guildamgladia2485
@@frankheninja1 Well, you are entering a field of argumentation without any valid arguments. If what you present is true, we would not be able to perform what you can see in our channel. We d all be eyesless and hospitalized. But we are not. Therefore once again. From your perspective or somebody who knows only sport aproach and using protective gear to have fun - yes, under such conditions your logic makes sense. From our perspective of people working without any protection from very beginning and following the authentic instructions, we suffer no injuries and yet we are having fun in a safe environment. So here it is no, your logic works only in the range of your personal level of understanding. I hope you got me right. I dont want to insult you, but please accept the fact, that what you know as historical fencing is probably one of many ways how it can be done, and you were probably not exposed to anything else than a modern sporty way. Its alright. But please do not tell others that the only correct way how to aproach the topic is only your personal point of view. That would be very sad than... Still I really apreciate your concern about the other people´s safety. I value that! That is surely a correct aproach. Thank you.
