I know tone is matter of taste, but I love the pro 2 tele. I've been a strat guy for 30 years so I may not be very informed about the modern tele tone vs vintage, traditional etc, but that's the best sounding guitar I've ever heard. Just test drive one it sounded just like yours. I play blues, rhythm and blues, and rock and that tele can do all of it. Don't even care about the fancy switching system, just the straight single could are awesome. Great demo. Thanks for confirming what I thought about that guitar.

Thanks Mike, the Pro2 is not really vintage sounding but is definitely a very good Tele through and through. can't go wrong with Fender USA guitars, Mexicans are good, and I will even go out on a limb and say the Squires are pretty decent as well.

Have you tried some Jazz? I'm looking for a tele for its versatility, but I need to have the warmer tones there. What do you say?
@MattsGAP
@MattsGAP 2 года назад
Well, I'm not a Jazzer, but the middle position in humbucker mode with the tone rolled off should do the job!

I’ve had strats & tele’s for 45 years can’t do without either! I bought the Pro 2 tele in Olympic white, I was so impressed I bought the Pro 2 strat HSS the week after in Olympic white. I’m so happy with my Pro 2’s But I can’t say my wife feels the same way. I’m a bit in the doghouse but still happy :-)

Glad to hear you like them, Quick question, the pro 2 strat in position 2 Bridge and middle pickups, does it sound anaemic or is it a passable strat quack tone? Thanks for watching!
@paulwatson9217
@paulwatson9217 9 месяцев назад
@@MattsGAP Got to be honest and say I’ve always kept clear of HSS strats because of the volume disparity but Fender have got it right with these. The V mod twos are great the bridge blends very well. But in answer to your question yes it’s fine surprisingly even in hum bucker mode it still quacks in position 2, honestly I couldn’t be happier with it the zebra pickup makes it look like a SSS from a distance apart from no slope on it. I know that some will say it’s not a traditional Strat and to be fair I used be one of them. Now I’d say no it’s not a traditional Strat it’s better because it’s more versatile.

@paulwatson9217 that's great, I've had the sss Pro for a few years now and I have tried adding a humbucker to it but position 2 sounded wrong to my ear. I've wondered whether the Fender HSS setup sounded right with the stacked 250/500k pot.

@@MattsGAP I do believe that’s exactly what they’ve done and also the humbucker has been specifically designed and wound to sit with the single coils. Go to a guitar store and try one that will be the best way to see and hear it for yourself because at the end of the day as you know sound is so subjective but it works for me, is it exactly the same not quite but it’s near enough for me and to be honest I don’t see why it wouldn’t be for you it is a compromise but it’s the best compromise I’ve used, hope this helps.

On a scale from 1 to 10, your voice volume is at low volume 3 and your sound effects volume is at 8. Nice Telecaster color combo. I'm thinking of buying the same model and color of guitar, which is what led me to your video.

As a dorky yank anglophile, I can say that your voice is incredibly lovely to listen to. Great demo, too. Is the finish on the Pro ii super thick and goopy? Are you still liking the guitar a year down the line? Thank you in advance for any answer. Cheers from California.

@MattsGAP 2 года назад
Hi David, well... I'm lost for words,... Thank you for the kind comments! As for your question, no the finish is quite thin, at least compared to what you might find on a Squier or Mexican equivalent. I also love the satin necks on these, very nice to play! I highly recommend the Pro ii Tele, and Pro Strat as well!
@davidgordon7673
@davidgordon7673 2 года назад
@@MattsGAP Oh, that is very good news. I had a MIM Classic Player strat a while back and the finish was so thick that i could not really feel/sense that there was actual wood underneath. It felt like I was holding a solid piece of cheap plastic. If I pull the trigger on this guitar, Fender owes you a commission. Thank you again. Liked and subbed.

Thanks again David, I'll just add a small caveat, make sure you get your hands on one first, your experience may differ to mine and as you know they are not inexpensive guitars!! Happy shopping!

Hi great video. I was curious is your am pro ii tele hum canceling in pickup position 2? I just got the same guitar myself and discovered it was not and was curious if this is the case for others. I compared it to a stock player tele which was, so got me wondering how its supposed to be. Marketing material from fender was quiet on the topic, but the service manual shows the pickups having opposite polarity which implies they should be hum canceling in position 2. I checked mine with a compass and both pickups were same having polarity north to strings. I’m not sure how big a deal I should make of it, but I do plan to see if any shops close by have any for me to compare to.
@MattsGAP
@MattsGAP Год назад
As I understand it the middle position should be hum cancelling yes. I also believe that by using the push push pot you're changing the series/ parallel configuration of the 2 pickups. Both should cancel hum still. I am not clever enough to answer your polarity question though, sorry. I believe that RWRP is standard on Tele's but I could be wrong. Sorry I can't help, perhaps send Fender an email directly and see what they have to say. I'd love to know if you are able to sort it? Thanks for watching!

I've got a new one few days ago, great color Mystic Green. I have to say that my guitar came with a wrong setup: pickups were too high distance to strings and the action was terrible, too high too. Now I made a little work with screwdriver and evrything is very good, another guitar :) . I was planning to change pickups because also the sound was poor, now is ok, alwais a little crispy for me, but it's ok. You guitar was perfectly ready to play?
@MattsGAP
@MattsGAP 3 года назад
Thanks for watching, Pretty good but not perfect, I always put 10's on, set everything up including pickup height and then let it settle for a week or two. Don't know where your based, I'm in UK and the guitar has travelled half way round the world by the time it gets to me so I expect it to have moved since it left the factory. As long as there aren't any dings, breaks or faulty wiring I'm happy to set the guitar up myself, especially as I mail ordered it. I was very tempted by the green one. In the end though the white won.

@@MattsGAP Italy here! Actually the color is a bit different in the web pics; it is probably because the camera sensor makes difficult to interpretate this green, that is not properly a green :) If u like a pic in hi definition of mine, I'll send u!

@MattsGAP 3 года назад
Nice, no worries, they always look different on camera anyway! My Lake Placid Blue Strat sparkles way more in person than on film. It's a shame cause I didn't get to see the Green or White in a shop before I decided, for me the only way to tell if you really like the colour is to see it in person. I knew the white was cool, if not a little boring, because I had a white strat a few years back.
