Fender American Professional II Telecaster Review 2 _ "We're Not In The 50's Anymore!" 

The routing in the body under the guard is such a great feature. Fender are really listening and paying attention to what players are doing with the Telecaster. Great feature! I bought one of these a few days ago and really pleased with everything about it. I have 6 high quality electrics now but this has taken the top spot in a short amount of time. The push push is great too, way easier than push pull knobs, way more convenient on gigs.

I just got mine 4-28-21. The merican professional 2 in sienna sunburnt exactly like shown here. I got it with a new hard shell "plastic" flight case with built in aviation approved security lock. I paid $1550 out the door, taxes included. It's a crazy beautiful great playing guitar. The action setup is just absolutely insane. Im very very satisfied! I've wanted a USA made Tele for about 31 years now... I finally got it.

I have the maple neck Roasted PIne version; it's a keeper. May be the only Tele I'll ever need. You do smart articulate reviews, Kudos!

I’m gonna get this 3 colour sunburst with the rosewood board. Gonna go to a few guitar shops to find one that plays the best, and then put a mint green pickguard on it ❤

I have the same guitar just in the maple fretboard. I absolutely love it. No more need to continue saving thousands and thousands of dollars for a new Gibson just to decide I need another one. This thing plays and sounds so perfect to me and it really does it all. Don’t think I’ve ever been so obsessed with a new guitar before. I mean here I am 6 months later watching a review on the thing lol

Great Review- I Purchased mine yesterday 3 color sunburst so vintage 60s look , they are $1699 now retail. Awesome Guitar ! I wish they would of included Lock in tuners for this money.

Great and comprehensive review, good playing and funny remarks! Well done. I have got the Mystic Surf Green one and it's a beauty. I put the new vintage style tuners on it (like they have on the Performer: no middle screws) and it now looks perfect for me, more vintage. Can't be happier with my American Pro II, so well done Fender indeed!

Trick for shipping or traveling put bubble wrap on top of guitar in case will give it extra protection from flexing of top of case

I agree on the locking tuners. Why would you not want those? I bought a set for my AP II Strat. I’m not going back.

Another great video man. Thanks for all the work you out in to do this. I have an American Pro Tele, first edition and I can’t help but feel annoyed that Fender openly says that they screwed up the first VMod pickups but now fixed them. Gee, thanks Fender. Do I get to replace them with VMod 2 set? No. Lotta money to be stuck with pickups that were basically a mistake. I do like the Tele but in the back of my mind I feel like I got the lesser pickups. Anyway, great video.

Great review! With respect to your complaint at the 15:00 mark you can get a modified control plate from Rock Rabbit that angles the pickup switch a bit like a Stratocaster and moves the volume knob away from the switch also. It is a simple replacement part that requires no permanent modification, is totally reversible and only takes a few minutes to install. I have put these plates on two Telecasters and wouldn't have it any other way.

Really good review. I tried one and ordered it in Dark Night. Pickups are great all the tones are noticeably different whichever combo used. Bridge pickup my favourite

I agree on the locking tuners. I always put them on every guitar, and my Pro II sienna Sunburst tele was no different. Great guitar glad I pulled the trigger. The deep C doesn't scare me, I have a Kotzen Sig tele. After that neck everything else feels itty bitty 🤣

Love my Sienna Pine Pro ii . Installed Hipshot Directrofit lockers, and bent the switch down and put a Strat Tip on it. Great Guitar!

Love the push-push idea, wish it put the pickups out of phase instead though!

Fender put a lot of time and money in the latest teles and strats maybe one day they’ll create a decent acoustic guitar.

Hi Brooks. I steer clear of locking tuners when possible - my Gibson Custom Shop ES-335 with P90s came fitted with Grovers and, despite great care exercised locking the wound ‘D’, the lock pin always cut through the string in short order - switched them out for non-locking and high quality TonePros licensed Klusons (no longer available) and the problem disappeared. BTW: My Strats and Teles are all 7.25” radius, I set ‘em up with a low action (1.5 - 1.3mm B-T) and I get no bend choking, at all.

I really don't like the push push pots, the knob sticking out even when it isn't on looks ugly to me, I much prefer push pulls because of that. That being said, it's still a great looking and sounding guitar! Hopefully they will release more colours throughout the year (perhaps even some all rosewood neck ones too!) EDIT I also don't like the narrow tall frets, I have them on my professional 1 and I'm a little heavy handed so sometimes they bent the notes out of tune, I would prefer medium jumbos

I personally like my rosewood boards to have some gradiation of color, especially if the particular piece is showing some red hues in the ligher parts. Pau ferro will never look like that

The locking tuners are overrated. Telecasters don’t need locking tuners because the system in tune well to begin with. The locking tuners make it hard for on stage or quick tuning of a string or more then one. And the contoured heal does not make a difference, I like the chunky feel of the square heal because it gives me a feeling that I have had since I started playing guitar, the contoured heal leaves something to be desired especially if your use to a square heal.

Hey man, ever tried the Twisted Tele pickups? How would you say they compare with these V-mods? Since the creator of the v-mods said he drew inspiration from the twisted tele, do you think there's a noticeable difference and can you do a comparison?

At 1500dollars it's not cheap. that's one year ago. Now they are 2100dollars!!!! What the hell inflation.... I wish my paycheck went up like that

Too bad they don't offer a belly cut option, that's the one thing missing for me.

$1,499 isn't bad.... but I'm Canadian, so a Mexican Tele isn't far off that.

Just my opinion for what it’s worth, if they had reversed the switch plate making the tone the volume and the volume the tone and the switch at the back the volume would be nearer the strings so better for the modern players and still put the knobs a little closer together so your little finger fitted between the switch and the tone knob. Ive always wished they had done this option and it wouldn’t be hard for Fender to do, just stamp the plate slightly different and it would improve the functionality of the guitar no end. Although I’m mindful that for the purists my suggestion may be a step too far.

Although the Telecaster has always had a cleaner crisper sound than the Strat it has taken them 60 years to update it. The black sunburst is a great finish but I still don't like the pick guard shape. Also the metal/chrome fittings & locking tuners should have all Been Matt black metal to sell it to me.....
