Locking tuners make string changes easier/quicker, they don’t affect tuning stability when using the whammy bar. That’s entirely determined by the contact points of the strings with the nut slots and saddles, as well as the bridge’s ability to return to pitch. That’s why so many guitars with double locking tremolos still have locking tuners.
If you have locking tuners, there's no need for the locking nut, and vice-versa. Get rid of the nut, and you STILL have a "double locking" system, and you can tune from the headstock. Not just that it's easy only in one sense, but you can also EASILY drop Dwithout the other strings going out of tune, analagous to the D-Tuna, but rendering it obsolete (Sorry, Ed).

Locking nut stops that from happening by locking the strings between the saddles and the nut. Locking tuners just make string changes faster.
After watching this I went to the music store today to look at one. The fretwork on this quitar is on another level to anything I've ever seen. They had player plus, vintera, ultras ect but the ultra deluxe frets were rolled to a level I've never seen before. A very very high level finish, I bet you love this.

@@EssexRecordingStudios Almost all of us paid MSRP by placing deposits at dealers with no markup (long wait around 14 months). I made my deposit summer 2019 at a huge corvette dealership in the state of New Hampshire. Mine was $65,000 and then I added around $15,000 in aftermarket modifications.
I just bought this identical guitar. Unfortunately I'm quite the novice when it comes to playing. I get bored and fed up with my inability to progress to the next level. Is the answer practicing 10 hours a day until my fingers bleed or can you give me some insight or advice to make the journey a bit less painful and not so long and tedious? Any wise words would be greatly appreciated. New subscriber.
Hey Peter, my words of advice are practice does not make perfect....perfect practice makes perfect. You can spend a lot of time getting nowhere if you are just diving into a song you like trying to play it. The fundamentals of how to move your fingers up/down/across the fretboard and how to coordinate with your picking hand so that you are hitting intended notes on intended strings is more critical than anything else when starting out. Then you progress to timing. Focus on exercises right now. Exercises that stretch your fingers and get them used to moving on a guitar. Exercises that improve your accuracy alternate picking and jumping between different strings. Start Slooooooow. Gradually increase speed when you can consistently nail an exercise 10 times consecutively with 0 faults

@@peterjones4621if you can afford all those expensive model guitars, you could use that wealth of yours to hire a real pro guitar teacher, even just a few months of in-person coaching will help you a lot and really speed up your progression. This is what really most people who are starting out guitar miss. It’s not like having to go to a conservatory so you should be fine. A “self taught” guitar player doesn’t really mean they did it on their own, they usually have some sort of mentor to guide them in their early years with guitar.
It should be pointed out there is one dirty little detail Fender doesn't really want you to know. Original Floyds are now being made in both Germany and Korea. The one on this axe is made in Korea and the hardcore Floyd guys will tell you it's still not on par with the German Floyds despite everything Floyd Rose wants you to think. At the price Fender is fetching for these they should have German-made Floyds installed.
Oh I haven't heard that. What's wrong with Korea? My new Samsung S22 Ultra phone was made there and it's amazing. My Hyundai i20 daily driver was built there and is flawless. Korean film won Academy Award Oscar for best picture in 2020. Things from Korea are great
@@EssexRecordingStudios The knife edges wear prematurely compared to German-made bridges. Then your tuning and instability problems manifest. I don't think Droids and Hyundai's have knife edges though. Nothing wrong with Korea. But it seems there are problems with Floyd Rose bridges made in Korea. Move production to Sweden, and I'll point out the same problem with Sweden-made Floyds.
I've got the original they brought out in 1992. It's pretty much identical however the donkeys at fender clearly didn't know how a floydrose worked as my original didn't have a cut out for the floydrose routed into the body so you cant bend backwards
I just read up on surface mounted Floyd's, seems I'm the donkey and they aren't meant to bend up just dive if they don't have the recess. Kind of a waste of equipment for it to be a basic bridge. Dont get me wrong I love the guitar it sounds amazing.
fretboard looks dry, which is a bummer...it should look a lot darker - could use some Dr.Ducks or some really good oil on it, also frets appera not to be perfectly flush with the fretboard? might be wrong though...like there is a tiny minuscule space at the end of the fret?
Congrats on the super sweet axe, but I don't think you understand how locking tuners work, or their purpose :P They make string changes easier, that is all. They provide no stability or "lock" for a floating trem at all.
