The Jensen needs a fairly long break in, it improves a lot in smoothness with time and use, it needs a very long break in to break in and sound great, I'm delighted with mine.
The vintage 30 really stands out, very forward sound, not boxy, the cannabis is too muddy, I have had the same experience you have had with the Jensen, the Jensen C2N tends to get raspy when driving it with overdrive but they have a particular sound and like you said you need to work with it and coax out the sound you want.
Thank you for your comment! 100% agree to it. Meanwhile I really love the Jensen sound. I got a Vemuram Jan Ray Overdrive and it is perfect to create the crunchy sound, I was looking for.
Great Comparison, I enjoyed the format you've used. Another thing about speakers is their efficiency rating/volume. I've an old Marshall I was running with a pair of Vintage 30s, it was just to loud for what I was doing. I switched to a pair of classic Greenbacks (which are less efficient) and the volume dropped by almost half. Check the speaker's measured sensitivity, the Vintage 30s are rated at is 100 dB. The Greenback speakers measure only 98 dB of sensitivity (a significant reduction in sound pressure level). Just my $.02 Cents, you can really customize an amplifier for specific needs/uses by changing speakers.
I have this amp, and I love it. Whilst watching, I though B was going to be the Vintage 30, as I assumed it would sound the best so quite pleased to know I have the speaker I like in my amp.
Are these speakers new out of the box?, because they'll sound a lot different after they are broken in. Jensen C12N needs a lot of break in time and sounded too harsh and brittle. As it is I preferred the Canna Rex.
V30 was the only one that has been played before. You are right, the sound will changes, but I couldn't wait that long 🙂 I also agree on the C12N, but that´s what I liked most.
My Blues Jr. IV is the black one -- comes with a Celestion A-Type, not the Jensen. I found the Jensen harsh and tinny especially when overdriven. I liked the Celestion Vintage 30 best but maybe that's because I am used to the (cheaper) Celestion A-Type! Also liked the Cannabis Rex.
Out of all 3 speakers My favorite was the B, The Jensen, I also liked A, the Celestion, I think C was a no for me after the second test. They all did good in overdrive But A and B were better all around speakers and to me the clean sound is the most important. Great video and nice playing. Celestion held right in there but I noticed did not have the volume as the Jensen. I am glad I did not have to make the choice .
Id say the celestion is the best because its in between and you can eq to get to either other speaker kinda. I like type a celestian though in a blues jr
My wife had a horse for a long time. She paid €400 a month and had to go there once a day, whatever the weather was, to shovel a wheelbarrow full of shit out of the box. And again, paid 400€ for that! Crazy! 🤣
@@maik_on_guitar Have a child! For the past 30 years I've been buying "extra" guitars and amplifiers with the idea that they are really for our Son.....................Just Saying, my Wife can easily say "NO" to me, not so much for our Son! 😉
Gotta say I don't like any of them, but the CRex if my choice was limited to these three. Surprised at the Vintage 30, thought it would trounce the others.
