I have the 70th CS Broadcaster with Blackguard 50-51 Pups, I also felt that it could use a little more chime and sparkle. But I personally think that chime and sparkle are easier to find in overall telecaster tone rather than smooth and full body so I kept the original pu in. I also brought it to compare to the Custom Shop 52 Telecaster and mine was so much louder and fuller plug in so I kept it.

I love your video. I CAN'T believe anyone would expect you to cater to them and base your pickup review on their income. This is about your guitar, man, and not theirs! Rock on!

I have to be honest my friend - I can't hear much if any difference. I think you've got so much processing going on that the frequencies you've got are just being used as information in this set up. Even without processing different pickups just cause a change in feel to the player with no audio difference being heard by the listener. I think you may get more changes by playing with pup height. I recently used Zak's method of matching everything to the output of the neck pup high e string. You end up with a great balance - the bridge being slightly less pronounced than the neck - I really like the feel of this and it's cured my gas for Lollars. The pups I have in now are from Alegree - once I had them set up using Zak's method - they sound fantastic. All the best though - great video.

Fair enough! Thanks for sharing, I actually ended up putting the originals back in the end because the difference was negligible haha.

Lollars sound a lot more mid focused and have that "hifi" thing you were after. They sound amazing!

yeah listening back to the video I definitley hear it more now without the 1 hour gap between the pickup swap making me question the differences. They are phenominal sounding pickpus.

Please do a "How I dial in" video for the new UAFX Lion pedal. I loved your videos for the Ruby and Dream videos and use your settings. I'm curious to what you'd do with the Lion, being a Marshall type pedal!

CS Blackguard pickups are one of my favorites, at least the bridge pup in my Esquire (I don’t have a neck example). I’ve got Lollar Alnico III’s in another telecaster and a Ron Ellis combo in another telecaster. I like your blackguard combo better than the Lollars but they’re both great.

It’s funny you say that, I actually ended up putting the blackguard pickups back in because that is what I ended up preferring after a while. So I have to agree with you on that haha

Now that some time has passed, what do you think? Are you leaning toward keeping the lollar installed? Or are you considering going back to the original pickups?

Ha good question! I haven’t played with a band live yet with the new pickups in, once I do I should have an idea.

Worship guitar playing requires a lot of reverb and delay. If you have a day too 40 gig on the side your reverb and delay is way more subtle
@lightfootfx
@lightfootfx 9 месяцев назад
yeah this is absolutley so true! I can't think of any other genre that would tolerate that much delay or reverb except maybe shoegaze and U2 or Coldplay lol.

Great video! How does the volume output of the neck pickups compare? Is one louder, or are they about the same?
@lightfootfx
@lightfootfx 9 месяцев назад
Hey thanks for watching! The vintage T has a bit lower output to me and more highs, this makes it sound clearer to me. To compensate after this video I ended up raising its height up more compared to the original neck pickup.

I love the reverb at 5:10, how are you making this sound?
@lightfootfx
@lightfootfx 6 месяцев назад
Hey man! I have delay on with a pretty short repeat setting and then I have a pretty high reverb mix with pre delay set somewhat high so that it gives room to breath. That’s being pushed by my kilt v2 and the benson boost to breakup the amps.

Fm9? Did you swap your pedals for it? Or? Wich is your main pedalboard? Fm9 or pedals?
@lightfootfx
@lightfootfx 9 месяцев назад
I have both still. The FM9 is my lazy board or backup board if I just want to grab and go and travel lightly. My pedals are my main rig that I bring everywhere for the most part. I like both options however.

Turn the effects off so we can hear the difference
@lightfootfx
@lightfootfx 9 месяцев назад
Hey man, at the beginning of each demo section I have all the effects turned off and demo just the bridge, middle, and neck the only thing on in the chain is the compressor but it is set extremely low and very low ratio so you can still hear the nuanced differences between them. After that I want to see how it responds to all my gear and how I run everything. I always value criticism though and will maybe spend more time on just the clean stuff in the future maybe with the compressor off as well.

@@LysanderLH "Output frequency"? Not a pro but I've bought 2 or 3 more Tele's since my last comment...disconnected tone pot from neck...all increased in output and clarity improves...not sure there's any other tonal change. It's subtle but noticeable to an experienced set of Tele ears.

What about people watching your channel that don't have a bit of discretionary income. People that don't have a King of Tone pedal and delay and amp. Why not try this stuff out with guitars, pedal and amps under $500.
