I have a love/hate relationship with the Fender PM series. I love the sound they have and, for the price, you really can't beat the appointments they have from the all-"mahogany", open pore model up to the Adirondack topped deluxe. The problem is; the "mahogany" they use in the necks of all models, and back/sides on most models, is a very soft species which is likely Toona sinensis (Chinese Cedar/Mahogany) and the wood isn't particularly well seasoned either. My guitar said that the action was 2.5mm/2mm's low E/high E respectively. The High E was over 2.7mm's high from the top of the fret and multiple luthiers I spoke with said that there was virtually no way it left the factory in proper specs. So either they lied and just slapped a stamp on it, or the wood is so soft and poorly seasoned that it changed that much. I've seen multiple videos where people had the same problems, and at least a dozen or so more mentions in various forums. Some people are less apt to be upset over things like this; but when you buy a guitar that retails for 500-600$ new and immediately have to pay 100$+ to get it in playable condition it's pretty ridiculous...especially when you can often times find usedTaylor 200-300 series guitars for between 500-800$ fairly commonly if you know where to look.

i was looking at a martin D10E and the music store offered to set it up for free. other than lowering the action not much else to do. it already had a plek setup at the factory.

I will definitely buy this one keep your 100 bucks cause i can set it up hehe.. i hate Martin models with richlite fingerboard and bridge.. even though the body is all solid wood .. cause i cannot afford the USA made ones starting on D-18 up... Hehe

This is a good dreadnought guitar demo, the way a dreadnought should be played strummed and picked. But I see 10-47 strings... will they even last a week?

Why did they discontinue this product ? Does it sound better than Taylor 210e? Which ones better ?

You made it sound very good, I wouldn’t guess I’m listening to a budget guitar with eyes closed.
@vawrzyn

Thx Tomas. I'm not sure how muhc of players would consider this to be a budget guitar. It's made in China but it costs little under 1.000 $ so it's incomparable to some of the instruments I did before....price-wise of course. Tonally? Everyone can judge individually :)

Darek Wawrzyniak wow I didn’t google the guitar before commenting. I thought it was much cheaper than that.

Ha ha ha...You assumed it is refering to my previous demos :) I like to demo cheap stuff because that what most of poeple are looking for. Expensive guitars are for limited customer range. Usually people have to take them to their hands first.
@DustyNonya
@DustyNonya 5 лет назад
@@vawrzyn A better explanation would be that it's a budget guitar in the solid-wood range. You can't find many all-solid guitars for much, if any cheaper than the Fender PM-1 series but that does come with some issues. Without a doubt my Fender PM-1 NE plays nothing nearly as nice as my 2018 Gibson AG Parlor, while the price difference would suggest that to a degree; one is a Chinese made, polyurethane finished guitar that had a ridiculously high action...and the Gibson is a nitrocellulose finished piece of art with the Rosewood burst, higher quality woods, and a much nicer feel all around.

nice guitar. giving me 2nd thoughts on buying a martin. a martin that looked as good as that would cost me double whats that worth. just have to find one near me to try it out. couldnt find a paramount any where within a two hour drive of where i lived . one music store said they could order it. i ended up buying a yamaha LL16DARE . very similar but i couldnt try the fender......no one had one .

I really wanna know the sound difference between this guitar and Yamaha fgx5. Has anyone tried both?
@Aztecae
@Aztecae 4 года назад
Well it's a personal preference I believe. The FGX5 is an excellent guitar although it is uncomparable to anything Paramount series in my opinion as the Paramount has a much more all over premium quality either its pickups, the playability the overall sound feels like you're paying £500-600 and getting a guitar that its quality isn't noticeable from a top range Taylor, Gibson or even Martin. On the other hand if you're more appealed to vintage guitars or more woody warm natural sounds of a guitar and aren't much bothered at all about playing the guitar with an amp the FGX5 is probably your choice. I would try both guitars personally though as I was always very scepctical towards the Paramount series until I got the PM4 Ltd and the PM1 Nat within its price range I don't think theres anything comparable to it which is probably these guitars literally sold out all over globally and mantain their value even on the 2nd hand market because its an overall limited series of acoustics from Fender.

Probably distribution channels there. I made a comment on another eastman video about a guitar that's really kind of overpriced for what it is here in the US at $1999 list. They sell for about half of that used, and at full price new, they're close to a good used gibson that they're copying. And then I saw the same guitar sold at retail in the UK, and it's $2800. We already don't have good distribution here, the retailers try to tell us that eastman doesn't make much on an $1800 les paul copy made in china (tokai makes better guitars in JAPAN for that price). I wonder if you'd have better luck finding Cort there, that's who is likely making these guitars, anyway, and there are all solid wood cort guitars for sale here in the states (where there is no name recognition) for $425 shipped.

@@daw162 An Eastman for 1999$? I see them generally closer to 900-1200ish give or take (at least the entry levels) though I guess it depends on the model and the setup. Sadly Guild has gone pretty overpriced since Cordoba bought them, too...the D-150 (before it discontinued) went from 1095$ MSRP to almost 1400$ simply because they moved to California. The distribution in the EU, especially the UK, is pretty terrible though. I consistently see guitars selling for almost the same price in Sterling as they are in US Dollars here. Sadly, aside from Gibsons, most of them have pretty poor resale value too. The AG Parlor (formerly the 2017 HP 665) are often only 100-200$ less than the high end costs in stores...meanwhile I've seen multiple Taylor 300 series going for 1/3rd their new value (bout 800$).
