Hey Dave I was watching the video on the thinline telle and you said the guy was complaining about low volume on certain strings.i was checking out the pick ups and on those split pole piece fender logo humbuckers,it looked to me like the pole screws was set lower on the high string's witch can make it have lower output volume on those string's.and I'm sure you already know that I just want to feel like I know a fraction and I'm talking a very small fraction of what you know or what you have taught me.ive learned so much from your videos and I'm forever grateful brother.my mother passed away recently and I don't think I would have made it through without watching you everyday.thank you so much for what you do.it means more than you know.all the way from Kingsport Tennessee.cheers

I had a fender tele, strat and a les paul to setup over the last couple days.. couldnt sleep thursday night, got all my stuff together, and sat down to start....tuned in too dave tv, and listened and watched while im doing my thing... the night went by pretty quick, got all three of them done that night.... im sure dave knows more than me, but it was just like having company... very informative, but not in your face kinda approach...

This guy's my favourite grouch on RU-vid. It's good to know I'm not alone in regaling all and sundry with with wit and charm and undiluted vitriol. He uses a lot of my pet phrases - he may even use my best expletive one day... but I doubt it. I don't think they have them in the US, Canada... wherever.

If you wan't heavier strings, Ernie Ball has a few sets that may suit your needs. EB 2626 - Not Even Slinky (12-56) is the next step up from the Beefy. EB 2839 - Baritone Slinky (13-72) is what I use for my B tuned V. Very nice guitar by the way. I am thinking about getting one of these and throwing a baritone neck on it.

I have a thinline kit from Big Cat guitars. It's a Thinline model and the wiring has be thrown for a loop. Do you have any experience with this? I've looked for schematics (and tried contacting them) and can't find to help...everything is different. It's a 2 humbucker, 1 vol/1 tone, 3 way blade switch and it's just sorta insane. Any advice is appreciated.

I watched your video. Thank you for your time, I really appreciate it. I JUST bought a mexican thinline and I've read that they're not always setup properly out of the box. So, I bought the necessary tools for setting up my new guitar in anticipation of any problems I need to fix. However... I'm not finding a lot of specific specs. I watched you check the radius, but what size radius tool did you use? what's the recommended action? Is there anything else I need to be aware of? also, I'll be using super slinky strings .11 gauge.
@jiggs1998

If your flat, move the saddles forward. The action is pretty much your preference, Dave can maybe give you a number to start with, but not without a make and model.

which pickup height would you suggest for those wide range humbuckers? if i set them to 3mm under the pushed down e strings at the last fret the neck pu is much louder than the neck one =(...now i got 3mm für bridge and 4mm für neck pu...in the manual fender suggest 1,6mm, which i guess is a too small distance...greets

it's interesting how people say that the neck fit is so important but fender puts a screw in that basically makes that side of the neck stand away from the body.

These types of tele guitars are mostly made in Mexico. Unless it's one of the American Elite ones. It goes for $899 brand new, but as for the American ones, I don't think there are American '72 thinlines, but I could be wrong...

Good to see it's not just my thinline that has ZERO shielding inside it, thanks Fender. Also, why do they insist on installing those lame jack sockets on all their Teles that you can only tighten from the inside once the pick guard is off? Question: is it a good idea to raise the saddle height and compensate with the micro tilt/neck angle? I'm thinking more sustain and less shredded palm on the darn saddle screws might be the way to go. Cheers.
@BrentPhelps
@BrentPhelps 9 лет назад
Lupocide Interesting the higher priced '72 thin lines don't have shielding, yet the new Squier Vintage Modified '72 thinlines are lined with black shielding paint and grounded to the body. I am amazed at the level of quality coming out of Squier/Indonesia. www.tdpri.com/forum/attachments/squier-tele-forum/253778d1411864424-squier-72-thinline-pickups-image-2242970524-jpg

I had a similar experience, I bought a Deluxe Hot Rails Indonesian Strat ($299.00) and mine was completely shielded exactly like your Tele. I fixed it up and it plays like a dream. The previous year I bought A new Fender Dave Murray Strat ($1000.00) and it had no shielding what so ever and it played horribly. I tried shielding the control cavity with copper tape and the routing was so poor (not deep enough) that the middle position lug on the 5 way switch shorted out against the copper tape, disabling the middle pick up when I screwed the pick guard back on. What is wrong with Fender? Their American/Mexican guitars have no consistency at all; what a shame. I bought an American Deluxe last year and sent it back the same day.

Yes, in the US lighter fluid is naphtha. That is why the container of lighter fluid I have says Petroleum distillate/Naphtha. 1. Coleman fuel is a petroleum naphtha product marketed by The Coleman Company. Historically called white gas (not white spirit 2. It is the purity of the naphtha that is in question regarding products in the US. news.ihsmarkit.com/press-release/chemicals/2020-us-emerge-largest-exporter-light-naphtha-essential-production-gasoline-

hey davey, I love watching your videos, and this one reminds me of a problem ive been having with my Epiphone Les Paul. When I switch to the bridge pickup, it would sound like the pickups volume was very low, and had a very ugly tone, but if I strum with a lot of velocity right over the pickup it would sometimes switch itself back to its regular volume. I didn't mind that much at first because I mostly use the neck pickup, but recently it happened to that pickup too! help would be appreciated.

Dave, I need your help mate. Like, really. Basically, here's the problem. My friend asked if she could put a Yamaha Pacifica neck on a pick body Strat. So I done that, and I have really bad intonation, the guitar is so flat. The action is reasonably decent (I don't know how to set up action) but I just don't know what to do. How do I measure action using a measuring tape, and how do I solve the intonation problem? Much help would be appreciated! :D
@gianlee621
@gianlee621 4 года назад
1. You should have said "sure go ahead". 2. Scale length: the average of the vibrating length of the string. You need to add shims or remove material where the neck joins the body to arrive at 25 1/2" scale length. Center the saddles so you end with room for intonation.

Hi, Dave. Are you getting more sensitive or what, you were much more rude and pissed on older vids... Maybe it's because of getting older? How ever I have a question about the strings for you. When I bought my strat copy I got it with some crappy strings, the nickel peeled off after few days and it was impossible to set the intonation. So I bought Dunlop 10's for 10$ and restringed my guitar. It sounded good until few heavier bends on G and B strings, and after that they've become metalic and buzzing in high pitch. Other strings are ok, but these two sound like a banjo... Is it possible that strings can be stretched or something?
@CJ-rf9jm
@CJ-rf9jm 10 лет назад
metallic n buzzy seems just like the Long n McQuade house brand strings I tried last month. the only strings I've hated so far. Just irritates me when strings sound better after they're dead. Not worth the $1.50 in savings over what else I've played.

So, what's the function of the Thinline hollow body? Make the body lighter, than no need for F hole or it can resonate like an acoustic guitar? Every one playing it with an amp!
@PANICBLADE
@PANICBLADE 7 лет назад
szaki The initial attempt was to make it lighter since the first time they were introduced, Fender's supplies of light ash were running low, so the goal was to make a chambered, light weight Telecaster. They ended up refining it a bit more and included the F hole for looks and function by adding some acoustic properties to the sound. Later on, they included the wide range humbuckers designed by Seth Lover and a hard tail strat bridge.
