There is nothing more ridiculous than the constant marketing about "re-voiced" pickups, especially the "re-voiced to be vintage correct" here. Like, "We told you that the last batch was vintage correct but we were actually full of crap. Now we really mean it. Until the next re-branding exercise, when they will be re-voiced again and we promise we'll get it right then."

Oh boy, I so love these long videos where they present a whole new series! That said, I literally just bought a used american original 60s strat yesterday so seeing this video today I was a bit worried the vintera II might've come with a 60s strat I really liked and that is cheaper. I'm lowkey glad I didn't get too excited about most stuff :') The rosewood being back is amazing though, I might get one still if they get released in colors I better in the future!

Regarding the Jazzmaster/Jaguar, it's important to note that that rhythm circuit is neck-pickup only and owes most of its darkness to the high-value pots (though I believe the tone capacitor is also different). The roller is absolutely still around (Buzz Stop) though a far simpler solution that's more tuning-stability friendly is to shim the neck and raise the bridge and/or use higher-gauge strings, particularly on the Jag.

Good to see another 70s strat coming! I love my Vintera 70s Strats (I have 2, Sienna sunburst and Aged natural) so much! Fender ended Vintera 70s strats years ago, some said it's because of expensive Ash body, now Vintera 2 70s strats have alder body. Makes sense.

"The mid position is the most underrated position". YES. I'm no big strat guy, but I bought one (because I 1. needed the glassy tone on some stuff and 2. because I wanted the trem.) So I have no experience with strats. But in the studio I immediately dubbed the distorted guitars with a track in the mid position. And it sounds AMAZING. So, yes, thumbs up to the mid pup.

I have a thin line Tele and I mostly play neck/bridge together for the depth of its tone. Adjusting pickup height adjusts the volume equally or make one or the other more prominent. The Gibson adjustment without separate volume controls per pickup. Heavy strings or lite. It's Fun to explore tone.

Been window-shopping Vinteras for about two months now, figuring out what my Christmas present to myself will be this year, and this line came at the perfect time. It changes a ton of things that I would’ve preferred in the first place. I was torn between 50s and 60s Teles, thinking I wish there was a neck size between the two, thinking I wish the fiesta red came in 60s because I was leaning towards 60s, thinking I definitely want to avoid the modified series because the extra electronics and all (I love the series/parallel switch but I wish it wasn’t a 4 way switch with the top NOT being the neck pickup, that irked me forever), and finally, thinking I wish oh I wish these had rosewood fretboards. Gosh darn it I’m happy

Regarding fretting out on bends with the 7.25 radius-the string won't bump into the higher part of the arch because the string will ride up on the that part of the arch on the fret you are bending at. So effectively the action should remain the same throughout the whole bend

Rosewood is back!! my gosh that’s so great to see!! However, I assume it’s going to be a major selling point for this line and they will not be bringing it back down to the Player Series. I personally don’t mind Pau Ferro so I’m not too heartbroken about that possibility but I’m glad to see it’s back on at least one iteration of the Mexican made guitars!! No Fiesta Red or Candy Apple though 😢😢😢😢

The pau ferro board on my 2021 white Vintera 60s modified is darker and more uniform than the rosewood boards on the two American Pro strats I compared it to in my LGS. It even has a good feel. Two years later I don’t regret getting it rather than the US one, tho I did have to dress the fret ends and roll the edge. Now it just feels like an old friend. I try out Am Pro ii’s in the shop now and again,and see no reason to “upgrade” to one of them. Yes, pau ferro is definitely hit or miss, but rosewood is too, for that matter. Maybe one day I will check out a Custom Shop…. That friggin’ Ocean turquoise is calling to me however!

Here's what I'll say about a 7.25 inch radius: it worked for Hendrix, Clapton, Page, Richards, Jeff Beck, George Harrison, etc. Still working fine for TVL, Mayer, etc. It's not nearly as big a deal as some people would have you believe. Sure, if your goal is to play Master of Puppets, probably not your best option but fine for everything other than speed shredding
@michaelkarlsson5966
@michaelkarlsson5966 10 месяцев назад
agree totally! The difference isn't that big. At least not between 7.25 and 9.5. With a good setup most of what you'd want to play is with out problem. And if you want to play metal I guess that stratocaster isn't the first or best choice anyway...

I'm PRETTY sure Springsteen's guitar is an extremely modified telecaster body with an Esquire neck. It was stock off the line, but someone took it, hollowed out a bunch of wood under the pickguard, and installed some sort of crazy four-pickup, quad-output system so you could record four guitar tracks at the same time for some reason. Somewhere along the way, all that was pulled out and it was rewired with a new neck pickup to be a "standard" telecaster, but it was especially light because so much wood had been removed.

My strat is the pre-Vintera 'Classic Players' 50's strat in 2 tone sunburst MIM. It's the perfect platform for doing your own thing to it and making it better than something 3 times the price. I absolutely love mine and it's interesting to see that a few iterations later and they haven't really changed much. All my strats are 7.25 inch radius and tbh hasn't really held me back from playing fast or tapping up and down the neck. Each to their own I guess.

Stevie Ray Vaughan and Eric Johnson have 12" radius, and you need to understand that these guys have had their fretboard leveled many many times by their guitar tech, so the real radius are much flatter than 7.25".

Hello, I really enjoy your videos and this one just popped up on my You Tube this morning. I heard you say you couldn't think of anyone who plays a Thinline Tele. You should check out Tab Benoit. He has been playing a 1972 Thinline Tele with humbuckers for over 30 years. No pedals, just straight into an amp. He puts on an incredible show with just a three piece band.

Was most excited about the Mustang - those look amazing so cool they brought back the most famous iterations of those in the competition burgundy (turqoise) and orange. totally agree that the Jazzmaster is the top of the range (for me) as Pete so masterfully shows Jazzmasters are about so much more than Jangle - they bring such richness and body to whatever you throw at them - love the Jag too but my eyes can't handle the black blocks on a maple board (meaning I literally can't focus when playing) The whole line looks amazing thought - other standouts are that absolutely gorgeous LPB 60s Strat and the Deluxe tele

I have two Ibanez guitars with the same pick ups in them. A semi hollow and a solid. They sound very different to play but maybe it's just being able to hear some of the accousticness (TM my word) by being in such close proximity to it.

That Jazzmaster sounds like heaven - like most Jazzmasters. I'd love to add one to my collection, make it my 4th. But I don't like the colours (and money's tight at the moment). Add some overdrive, push it into a Marshall. Mmmmm. Jazzmasters can't be beat, man!

The one thing I will NEVER understand with Fender is why they will happily put modern wiring in their Vintera guitars, but refuse to add a modern truss rod so you have to take the whole neck off to adjust it. So silly.
@michaelkarlsson5966
@michaelkarlsson5966 10 месяцев назад
Agree completely. Can't understand why. Wiring is easy to change if you're not happy with it. Truss rod configuration on the other hand... While I love Fender these silly things makes me a bit sad...

7.25 radius is real comfortable , cbs got fender in'66 and they brought the big headstock in from '8 if not befors. the 3bolt neck happened in around 72-73 . so the early cbs ones are the best i reckon. the ones before the 3 bolt neck came in. in '79 they came out with the silver anniversary which had a 4 bolt neck .geat guitars! in 1980 they produced"the strar" which had a 4 bolt neck gold hardware and alot of different pick up options really great guitars! then in '81 the so called dan smith era 4 bolt came out which was very cool after that they wenr a bit strange then the factory moved and they started doing the usa standard and some vintage reissues

I have the Vintera 1 modified strat in two tone sunburst. They've bought out the mk2 of sunburst 50s ( 4:00 ) which in my opinion isn't as good as the first one. the MK1 has a S1 switch and a c shaped neck. The mk2 is more true to the original guitars which I get but id strongly prefer an s1 switch on the MK1 over a period correct neck on the MK2. I honestly don't even notice the neck shape on guitars and don't think it even affects my playing. Just some of my thoughts. Really good video boys

Nice to see maple boards, Vintera II Jags are '70s spec, the prior Vintera Jags are '60s spec. I have a Vintera Jag in ocean turquoise and replaced the pickguard with a white one.

It's about time they released a period correct neck series. the 7.25 has been my favourite fretboard for many years. the trick is to have the action of both E strings low then gradually get higher to the G and D, like a low arch, following the curve of the frets. Really comfortable to play. these sound great too. Not even too unrealistic a price either. Gotta say, I'm really impressed by these, I might actually buy one. good vid again by the Dymanic duo.

Before decimalisation, that must have a been a damn fancy loaf for 3s 6d! Personally, I was more concerned about the price of gobstoppers and balloons at that time, so I had to look it up; in 1971, the average price of a loaf of bread was just under two shillings (a florin 😼), or nine new pence (9p).

I’ve grown to like the vintage radius best. I have the same 60’s tele. Pickups are decent. But I couldn’t help it I never can. I put Lollars in it and it’s a great guitar. Thinking about switching to brass saddles. I had an AVRI 62 I think it was that sounded good stock but putting brass on it gave it more balls and faster attack it seemed.

The return to Rosewood is great, however that’s at the “cost” of no more Nitro, 7 1/4 radius vs 9 1/2 on the modified Ventura’s and the higher cost. I actually think picking up a Maple neck version of any of the Ventura 1’s right now on clearance sale is 💯 the better way to go if you act fast! If you really want the Rosewood/ 60’s models, than just suck it up and buy the American Vintage II’s or find used American Originals which have the 9 1/2 radius necks (that’s what I recently did, I was actually able to even locate and buy a new old stock / still “new” 60’s American Original Strat in Lake Placid Blue with Rosewood Neck for under $1,800 new with G&G hard-case including shipping and taxes)!!

I wish Fender would countersink the back cover plates. Production costs passed down to the consumers would probably cost them another $25 dollars per guitar but would be worth it if for no other reason than aesthetics. It would also prevent many shirts from being torn by those fabric grabbing screws too. And their guitars would sell even better than they already do. I'd be the first in line to buy.🙂
