I am a real world Airbus pilot with thousands of hours flying the real aircraft and thought it would be fun to have a look at the new detailed simulation of the longest baby 'bus by Toliss as well as the new MSFS a320 NEO. Hopefully you find this useful and it brings another perspective to your simulation. Any thoughts or comments are welcome!

Force of habit i guess. We are so fortunate to had flybywire to fill the space before pmdg/ fenix or other professionals started finishing their products. Certainly kept my interest in msfs

What we really need in the sim is an Airbus Freighter. Maybe an A330 or A350? Fenix have proved beyond doubt they have the minerals to create such a thing. 😁 If you're reading this Fenix, pull your finger out lol.

As always, excellent clear explanation for us wannabees - thanks. When I watched you demonstrating the auto recovery systems, I couldn't help wondering what happens in situations like that Air France A330 which stalled and crashed in to the Atlantic. yeh I know the pitot tubes froze sending false info, but why would the aircraft still allow itself to stall past it's limitations? If it can override input from the pilot then wouldn't it be able to override info being set by an external input device?

Thanks Ronnie! Glad you liked it. The incident you describe had of course a lot of factors. But ultimately in ‘alternate law’ you can stall the Airbus and override its protections with little effort. Therefore we do a lot of sim training where the aircraft is in alternate law so we are ready for it if it happens (which is incredibly rare).

Not answering for 320SP but I guess he would do these procedures, but only in a simulator. You wouldn't be allowed to push an aircraft to its limits in the real world. That is what you have test pilots for. And even they get it wrong from time to time.

Honest questions: I am a former pilot with 7,500 hours, COML, Instrument and instructor in heavy twins. I find MSFS a radical improvement for sure. And I understand a pilot training for the airlines would really be into it. But…it seems like for anyone else it would become just another massively time consuming VR game and/or boring after awhile especially if you were trying to learn the systems, etc of the airline equipment. What am I missing?

This would be the same for any flight sim on the market today. If you were to get bored of it after a while, then it isn't the hobby for you. And this is exactly what it is. A hobby just like any other. You have to be passionate about it. For me I am fascinated in everything Aviation, and the nearest I can get to it is through a flight sim. As has been the case for the last 30 years. Yes there have been times when I have stepped away for a month or two, but I regret it, and come back with the same passion I had before. As strange as this sounds. I like to keep current with my flight simming. I have a Vatsim P1, and if I step away for any length of time I start forgetting certain things. So out of self preservation, and the passion, it always keeps me coming back. I like to set targets. Keeps me interested. And lets face it MSFS is a game changer. Especially now with airframes like the Fenix A320. 😊👍

Any chance you can change the wind in MSFS (say add instant 50kt tailwind) and see if the Fenix will stall with normal law? IIRC the A320 will kick itself into alternate law (or direct if the gear is down) if a sufficiently large windshear causes it to stall in normal law.

Bank is limited to 67° in normal law, which is quite steep for an airliner.

Anyone have issues descending im getting extreme nose down to around 6000fpm on managed then a strange pop nose up randomely. not sure if its an issue or something im missing knowledge wise. have used the fbw mod since the start with no issue

Fantastic video. Any idea how this aircraft impacts FPS rate? Right now I'm a Toliss man. I would love to get my hands on an A320, and Flight Factor (FF) has one, but I've read that FF drains FPS rate. I have a Mac, so this concerns me a little. Thoughts?

Which airbus 320 sim do you advice? Xplane 11 toliss or msfs fenix or other ones you tried? What is the best option so far?

That depends on what you’re after. Whilst it’s no argument that the Fenix is way more highly detailed in nearly all aspects than the Toliss, the Toliss has features not yet available for Fenix on their A321Neo models and they also have the A340. The NEO LR and XLR package give you a range unbeatable by the Fenix. But if you want to look at the scenery whilst cruising then that would lead you back to MSFS.

Those neo engines, especially the PW1100G's have a really aggressive and beautiful look. I actually like them more but the cfm's are also sexy

I guess it's subjective. I love the neo engines more because of the same reason as above. It's more powerful and at the same time more fuel efficient. It's just better overall. But that's my personal opinion.

I have a question. I don't really understand how AirFrance Flight 447 were able to make the airplane stall. I know it was an A330 but I figured they have the same features. I'm sure there is an explanation but I don't get it.

AF447 was in alternate law as a result of the iced over pitots resulting in the loss of airspeed. In alternate law you can stall the aircraft. Once the ice melted the pilots would have airspeed again but the aircraft would be stuck in alternate law until back on the ground

If you turn off all the ADR only the aircraft will be in ALTN law, if you turn off each ADIRU you’ll be in direct law. There will be no protections and no autotrim in direct law

Hi. I have like 5000 hours in flight simulation but im still yet to find out where to see the bank. is it on the pfd? Is it anywhere at all? When you were talking about banking around 9:50 i was looking at the pfd for a solid 2 minutes but i could not see anything. Thanks.

You will never get "full fidelity" in a home simulator. Even the ones that cost millions aren't full fidelity.

£49.99 Doubt it for now. Remember the FBW is a NEO mod and is free. The NEO versions for the Fenix will probably be several months away. Some people also can’t afford to pay £50 right now for this
