As a guy that loves Fenix and olight..I've had a pd35tac that has become a part of me..i absolutely love it. It's been through pure hell. Literally left on for 3 days at work, fell off in my pool while on, fell off in to a river Bank and stayed submerged for 2 hours while i fished around for it, been ran over by my truck, survived tons of rounds of 556 and 308 being closely mounted to a muzzle brake...it is just an amazing light. That said..as far as size, how much bigger is it than the pd35tac. Great review.
As a Fenix junkie, my all time favorite, is...the...E30R...SO SMALL, yet SO POWERFUL! Just unbelievable. It's either on me, or on my bed a night, next to my pillow. All the other models just hang out together, in the dark.
Nice review! On a side note: if I were to test my flashlight and lit up my neighbors backyard, they probably came knocking on my door to ask what I was doing.
Having purchased about 30 lights in the last few months I have to say this is my all around favorite to use around the farm. Good flood and great spot for scanning the distance.
I know this a year old video but I just bought this light with the Fenix black Friday sales. Can't wait to get my hands on it. I love both the SFT40 and SFT70 LEDs, the green tints don't both me one bit.
FENIX. They do everything well. The build quality is top notch. Lights feel substantial (I have the TK16). But, what I think is hurting them....or preventing them from being top dog is their ODD UI. Fenix lights (to my knowledge) is the only brand who do not include "firefly mode " period. Very essential and basic to any light. And not having "instact access to Turbo via 2-clicks". Making buying another not a possiblity. Oddly some aspects of UI should be "standardiszed" but isn't. Nor is there a standarized FF, L, M H and T number range/spacing....it's all over the place....
I'm not sure a ui needs to be standardized across an entire company, but within a line it would make sense. I wish they had emitter options on the edc lights at least
Fantastic review, well articulated and very informative. IMO the PD36R beam profile is very well balanced, with just the right amount of flood and throw. Curious to see if the Pro’s beam profile is any different. Keep up the great reviews!
After having the Surefire tactician and carrying the Fenix the Surefire doesnt have good throw..its good upclose the Fenix you could see further it depends what you want.
Thanks for the video. I am attracted to the purchase but I don't know if I will. TK20R has been in my Amazon cart for a month but I still haven't purchased it. I already have PD36R (excellent !) PD36 TAC (not bad but horrible tint and too cold) and TK11 TAC For the new models, lots of power but also a few seconds of Turbo. My PD36 TAC gets hot at 3000 lumens although I have to admit that for the size of the torch the short turbo life (30/45 seconds) is acceptable. Maybe the TK20R with its bigger head lasts a few seconds longer?
If you want a longer Beam Throw the TK16 v2. If you want a more pocket friendly light with a wider beam and shorter throw than the Pd36r is a good choice.
I have a layman's question, in every video I see the person shows the flashlight charging cable, where it connects to the flashlight and they never show where the other end goes. Do I still have to buy a charger in addition to the flashlight? If I have to buy it, is it a proprietary charger from the company or can it be used by anyone?
Most are a USB-A on the other side, you probably have some around the house, as it's the most common usb port. Most lights now will charge with USB-c to C so your phone chargers work too.
Hard to say they both have pros and cons. It depends on how you intend to use and carry. I have videos on both watch them and let me know what you think
No, most higher quality flashlights like this Fenix don't have a feature like that because it makes to many compromises and optimizes nothing. Zoomies are generally considered to be bad.
@@LiquidRetro im still searching here and there For morning use to see inside or below or in dark slot in the morning in car engine or boat engine etc etc in morning not at night
Such a nice light with such craptastic LED choice! Low CRI, terrible tint and nasty cool white. There really is no reason for this in 2022. Tons of better choices they could have used here....SST20 -4000k, Nichia 519a 3500k-5000k.
Well, as a tactical, patrol light, you need high cct to gain lumens, and bring the shock factor to whoever at the bussiness end of the light. you dont want to give any sense of comfort with the sweet warmth of hi cri and low cct to the suspect you seek in the shadow.
@@relayerrelayer8226 I think the raw power of LUX/Lumens out weighs CCT/CRI insofar as blasting someone's retinas...so why not have BOTH and get a high output high CRI LED flashlight?
@@LiquidRetro naaah, I purchased a protac 2.0 from Streamlight; it gives me 2,000 lumens for two hours and almost 30 minutes; does get hot but doesn't burn me and does NOT step down. Also, I got a protac HL 5x 3,500 lumens from Streamlight and that sucker gives me 75 minutes of powerful light WITHOUT stepping down. I've had Fenix flashlights but don't use them no more after finding these Streamlight ones.
@@LiquidRetroanother down side of Fenix flashlights=you can't use them as candles, they can't stand, the ugly tail switch won't let you. Streamlight flashlights are the Best
