Fennec foxes are native to the desert- they have only a few sources of food and scorpions are one of them. If they weren't immune to the poisons of the desert, they would have died out long ago.
Doesn't mean it still doesn't hurt like crap to get stung, hence why the little fennec decided to rip out the stinger and venom sack before making the scorpion a crunchy snack.
Fennec:UGH!!!(thinks on what to do)(If I throw this guy many times...aha!he would die!!!) Scorpion:Ahh!!! Grrr hey! ugh! ouch!!!! You...won bleh... FENNEC FOX WINS! BRUTALITY :V
I don't know about fear but they certainly feel pain, or at least have pain receptors. And if you watch the video the little fella is clearly trying to escape the predator.
Old comment, sorry. The reason of this is that animals like this are not really alive in the way we are, they have no xentralized intelligence. Thus each component can function independantly regardless of the damage state
fox: u lil fgt imma getchu scorpion: no u aint ill sting u my man *scorpion stings fox* fox: u lil fgt that tickles scorpion: o my lord jesus almighty help me fox: there's no help for you now you mutated crab scorpion: pls fox, no fox: there's no mercy for you now scorpion: PLS, DONT EAT ME fox: ur getting it now scorpion: OH MY GOD MY STINGER YOU LITTLE ASSBASKET I KNOW KUNG FU fox: ye, and i know kick-a-yo-ass-fu scorpion: OH SH-*rip* rip scorpion 2012-2012
Well if you had a knife and tried to kill a person with a gun who was trying to kill you, you would kind of have to jab at them slowly until they loose their gun the gun being the stinger of the scorpion and the knife being the fennec foxes teeth
Circle of life, dude, circle of life. The fox has to eat and the scorpion is it's prey. It's not pleasant, but it is reality, and reality is rarely pleasant.
It's amazing how the fox Knows to target the tail and to get the stinger off first before anything else, and taking advantage of the loose sand to cave under it and everything :3 That on top of the probable immunity to the poison helps X3
probbaly helps that its unclear if invertebrates experience pain: if not, this means the cscorpion will never pass out from shock and can basically keep on trucking as long as vital organs are still in
You keep a surprisingly still hand whilst filming in the midst of one of the most dangerous insects on the planet. I commend you, sir. Also, was that fox your pet? Regardless if it was or not, he/she is very smart... and so cute!
Out of the 1000s of scorpions on earth only 25 species are deadly to humans and of these only 1 scorpion species in the U.S. that big silly scorp is a Desert Hairy, they can cause an allergic reaction but it isn't deadly.
Actually, scorpions are not insects, they are closer to crustaceans. Also, that fox seems to be wild. I doubt a captive-born fennec fox would have had such skills to tackle a live scorpion like that, and no, instincts doesn’t equal experience, instincts can only get you so far unless you got experience to back it up.
Crazy how this thing knows not to eat the stinger, the only reason we as humans know is because we taught, if a person had never once in their life heard about a scorpion, they would have no idea that the stinger is the most dangerous part of a scorpion.
Good point, but I suppose as desert dwellers Fennecs know how to conserve very well and also that is why they eat every single part of it, carapace and all with only the stinger being left out.
he's so smart! you can tell he really wants to go for its head, and just be done with it, but he knows he has to get rid of its tail first, so he hops arpund, beating it up until it can't use it anymore. clever little boy
wow, it's really amazing how smart the fox is!! takes extreme caution until the tail is gone. he's probably been poked by that tail before. savage how he ate it alive tho
I don't get how that works? So a Fennec fox can eat a scorpion and not be effected by its poison. But if a dog eats a black widow it dies 30 minutes later...Can someone explain this?
The scorpion itself isn't poisonous but it's stinker in its tail is. The fennec fox along with other animals in that environment have learned to bite off the tail and not ingest the poison so when you see the camera zoom it on the little black ball with a stinger that's the poison gland of the scorpion where all the poison is. Unlike the black wido if eaten you can eat a scorpion cause there's no chance of eating poison if you take off the stinger like the fennec fox did! Hope this helps out some!
They are also super hyperactive and needs constant squirrel companions! XD I have a fennec named Tails and I have three squirrels that are named Coke, Mach, and Machtu. Dude, squirrels and fennecs are the craziest combination of pets, they love to curl up with the fox and sleep. He still smells them like he wants to eat them, but he knows they'll kick his ass too! 💟
judging from the video, the way they talk, and the fennec, it's most probably north-africa, and It's not a deathstalker, it's most probably a Androctonus australis
When these wild animals consume poisonous animals i.e. snakes, scorpions, they are also consuming the poison, so will that not kill them? Sorry if I sound ignorant haha I'm just curious.
Its not poison, its venom. The difference is venom has to be in your blood to hurt you. Poison has to be ingested to hurt you. You could even drink a glass full of cobra venom and it not hurt you at all as long as you dont have any open wounds in your mouth, esophagus, or stomach
The way the fennec just ABSOLUTELY YEETS the little puny scorpion around tho, like bro imagine being a little scorpion, and then a massive beast starts chucking you around and then ripping your tail off and then eating you up.
Fennec foxes are not immune to scorpion venom, but they have adapted to eat scorpions by carefully removing the stinger before consuming them. They also have thick fur that may protect them from some stings.
"wait what no this isnt how this supposed to work AHHH" also the way it was flinging that scorpion about I was expecting it to just fly into the cameraman's face
If that was a Deathstalker it means Fennec foxes are quite lethal predators even when they are ridiculously cute with those radardish-ears and hyperactive, puppy-like habitus.
That`s amazing! How does the fox know that the scorpions stinger is dangerous?? Its like foxes go to fox school where they are taught this stuff by older foxes !!
