I see similar situations like this very often. Too often! I can’t tell you how many times I’ve heard someone say that after waiting for a bed or whatever for weeks they finally got the call, moments after their loved one passed. Gut wrenching!

I’ve heard this several times. People don’t realize that it’s not the responsibility of jail staff to call the families of the prisoners’ release. There is not enough funding to hire the amount of people it would take to call family members upon prisoner release. We have to raise our children to know that you do not ingest drugs that were not prescribed to you, by your doctor. This current issue with Fentanyl-laced drugs should be great motivation to tell our children this message. It’s heartbreaking that Texas-Pictures has an endless supply of these stories to tell.

This was something I realized about my 20s, we were all just self medicating but didn't have any language to explain unresolved trauma, our emotions, etc.

@Gee-xb7rt Absolutely. I broke the generational trauma that both sides of my family have suffered from,for years. It takes far more courage to change and become sober than it does,sitting in the same old dysfunctional ways of life.

We manage to tell less than 1% of the stories that are out there, and we’re kinda swamped 😞

It doesn’t make it any easier, that’s for sure! I begged my son’s dad to spend some time with him when I saw him on this path! He could care less until he got into real trouble at 15 and he saw an opportunity to get me to have to pay him child support by suing me for custody!!!! So it’s not always mom. I worked in a jail population during all of it, my kids were well aware and this still hit my family. It happens everywhere!
