A father, Chris Cavallo, and a sister, Cristina Cavallo Frisby, share their story of losing a 39-year-old loved one, Stefanie Cavallo, to illicit fentanyl in this documentary about the dangers of illegal drugs. To use this presentation at high schools or other educational applications, contact Texas Pictures through our website at www.texas-pictures.com.
Naloxone, the active ingredient in 4mg Narcan and higher dose 8mg Kloxxado, along with many generic versions, can reverse an opioid overdose if administered quickly enough. Some areas have Naloxone available for free. Google it.

I am 6 months sober from all drugs. I almost died last year due to drug induced psychosis. I threw away my life savings away and now am in trouble from 2 arrests. I am slowly recovering and I am thankful to still be alive. I want to share my story so others may escape the horrors of drug addiction.

Addiction is an inherited form of mental illness. Runs in families. Ask me how I know. My condolences. I too lost a son to fentanyl. It killed him so fast he was found on the floor with his arm on the wall. They believe he died within minutes. Anyone reading this. If you have family that are alcoholics or drug addicts, it’s in your family. Make sure you inform your children of this. Let them know that this is a form of mental illness and once you kick start it, it’s almost impossible to stop. My son was an addict for 16 years. It took so much from him, getting high became his life. And for the love of god do not buy pills or anything from a drug dealer. They are putting fentanyl in everything. Literally everything. Even weed.

The drug abusers have totally ruined the system for people who have legitimate pain and need " pain killers ". They can't get proper treatment because of the drug abusers. The government has shut that down because of them. Why do you think people are going to the streets to get their pain meds? Because dope heads ruined it for everyone else. Sad but true. But, yes, we do have a Fentanyl problem because of illegal drug seekers.
@Lenergyiskey358

I do not live in America but, I watch many American docos. I think the way that the medical industry is run over there is also part of the problem. I do not know if there are free clinics over there but, I know it is expensive to get medical treatment. In Australia we have free medical care for those who cannot afford health cover. The only downside is that there are long waiting lists unless what is wrong is urgent. I say that addiction is urgent and it should be free to go to treatment centers and the Govts need to provide high quality care. There is not enough focus on the importation of these drugs either. That goes for all countries.

So sorry for you loss. What a beautiful young woman. From my own experience, it is *almost* a relief when you lose someone who has had such a gold on your life for so long. But what a shame to have police officers to tell you she's just a junkie. As though no one could love her. 💔🙏

Stigma and shame are harmful and unnecessary. These hinder positive action in overcoming this horrific epidemic. Judgements provide excuses to the community to turn their eyes to these problems. The Dad’s three prong approach made a lot of sense. We all have to help in some way. ❤🙏🏼👍

There's no stigma or shame in the truth. There may be some pain in accepting the truth.

You have to have so much compassion for addicts. There are some that just want to get high but a lot of the people that abuse drugs live in emotional hell 24/7. When they stumble on a pain pill or a joint or whatever they take it and feel "normal" for a day or so. When you realize you are out of that terrifying black darkness you realize how "normal" people can get up and function and manage stress and accomplish goals without their minds working against them all day, every day. If you took someone out of a horrible jail they don't want to go back. It works for a while but then you go to a much worse place. I don't begrudge any human that is hurting so badly they begin to make poor choices just to allow their minds to rest. Maybe, just maybe someday they can offer some type of medication or treatment that can even just put a small dent in those that have it the worst. Normalize mental health awareness.

I've watched many of these stories. I've noticed most of the women's addiction stories start with "she met this guy" or "she started hanging out with this guy." Just an observation. I feel for this family. Many prayers to them and for their foundation. I hope they find some peace.

Shame on you! That officer spoke the truth. He did nothing wrong! Too bad most people can't handle the truth. I guess it's true that the truth truly does hurt some people. Don't shoot the messenger. Heed the message. I get so tired of people blaming law enforcement for everything that happens. They were doing their job, telling this family what happened and why. Giving them the information they needed and wanted to know so they could begin to try to understand what happened and why. If you're looking for someone to blame, it's not law enforcement. Personal accountability is what this is about. Sad but true.

@@bruinrose You’ve never been addicted to a drug have you? Especially one a Dr prescribed then you can’t get off of it without horrible pain and withdrawals… way worse then the pain you were being treated for…. Only to find out later that the pharmaceutical companies KNEW the drug was highly addictive and way past what was legal but yet produced it-lied about it-then had Drs push it non stop. We clearly have different perspectives on the subject matter

So sorry for your losses. This is a travesty. They’re not helping people and they’re not holding the sellers responsible for these deaths. We need more long term treatment for people and mental asylums must make a comeback. And most importantly close the borders and hold these criminals accountable. 😢🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I get that there is a longing to try to legitimize drug addiction as a healthcare issue. But, when you look up the definition of disease and mental illness neither fit. Disease happens on a chromosomal level and a mental illness does not originate from the taking of a substance. Drug addiction is its own unique thing that needs its own label. And, I think that if there is a known family history of addiction, it should be taken seriously. Just as seriously as a person with a peanut allergy takes being around peanuts.
