Piano Concerto, Op. 132, 'Farewell To England'

Oh, thanks, I'm so glad you liked it! I like all Ries concertos, but this concerto is my favorite. That's why I posted it soon after I created my classical music channel.

I agree with you, Ries was a great composer. Unfortunately, the great conductors and pianists did not rush to perform his music because his name was too little known to the general public and the albums would not have brought the expected revenue. Then, even here, on RU-vid, many of his works were blocked due to copyright infringement. It is a vicious circle from which I hope we will emerge someday, and his compositions will be known and recognized.

What magnificent music was produced by this little known composer. Ferdinand Ries was a talented and fabulous composer. The elegance and lyricism of his music are sublime and amazing. It is a pity, I emphasize repeating, that Ries is not known for most people given the beauty and elegance of his music. The romanticism of some moments are of unforgettable beauty and delight harmony. The pianist interpretation is sublime and superb given the sensibility and technique he employs during his performance. The orchestra and direction are flawless. Viva Ries and his magnificent music. Thanks for this remarkable recording.

I totally agree with you. This music is beautiful. I really don't get why it is not played in Concert Halls!!!!! There is such a strong bias in the classical music world. His music is rich, exciting and never repetitive. I guess this is why Beethoven loved Ries' work.

This is till now my favourite piano concerto by Ries, and a great performance. There is a vitality , vivacity in his music that definitely is his own. I also like very much Ries' chamber music and he has written very beautiful chamber music.I hope that more of this music becomes available.

Thank you, this is my favorite too! Concerning the chamber music I agree with you, it is very beautiful (listen, if you like, to Grand Sextuor in C major Op.100 or Quintet for piano, violin, viola, cello. double bass in B minor Op.74)

Die Konzerte von Ries sind im Geiste des Impressionismus und Expressionismus geschrieben. Die Seele ist gesättigt mit wahrer Musik. Großartig !!! Tepper Michael.

I've now heard Ries' 8th and 9th piano concerti, and this fine one, and I'm forming the opinion that they are at least nearly as excellent as Hummel's. The unusual structure of the slow movement here is quite effective, its' agitated passages somehow not affecting its' tender, heartfelt nature; and the finale has a wonderful elan, with whimsical tunes that would have done Litolff proud.

Thanks a lot, I know both concerts, they are really beautiful. I've also posted about 2-3 years ago Flotow's No1 concerto but it was removed by youtube. Now I find out that youtube has accepted the concert no 2 (the same album, the same performace), so I will try to upload the concert no1 again. I hope not to receive a "penalty" again :)

I am amazed at the numbering system of Ries's concertos. I believe you are right that this is concerto no. 7 but it was his 6th piano concerto, I believe, as concerto no. 1 was for the violin and hence concerto no. 2 was his first piano concerto and so on. Please correct me if my information is incorrect. I am basing this on Wikipedia.

Nichts gegen die sogenannten großen Meister; neben ihnen ist so manches ebenso Großartige entstanden und findet sehr zu Unrecht nicht Aufnahme ins überkommerzialisierte gängige Repertoire...

Ries is one of my favorite composers and I have all his music that was recorded. Unfortunately, youtube has blocked some of his musical works I've uploaded. Concerto no. 3, for example, has been blocked for a period of 4-5 months. So, I'm afraid to post Ries again. Thanks for listening to my posts and your comments.

I hope your youtoube channel hasnt the same fate as KuhlauDilfeng2 channel which has also removed al his uploads due to copyright reasons. About Ries, we have the same opinion. He is certainly not a cheap imitator of Beethoven.

@@sibarit101Thanks for uploading Ries' music, inspite of YT copy right nonsence. I understand their concern, but the fact remains: loading music of lesser known composers like Ries SERVES music for the good. Without uploads like yours I would never have discovered how great and beautiful Ries' music is, and most certainly never would have bought anything composed by him. But now I alreay own quite a numbers of recordings of his music and plan to buy much more. Thankyou for serving music and lovers of great music through your fine YT site.
