FERMENTING COTURNIX QUAIL FEED - Benefits of feeding your Coturnix Quail fermented feed. 

For my chicks I soak a half pint jar of feed with as much water as it will hold then I put black soldier fly eggs on top and cover it with a coffee filter. A few days later the larva will have eaten a lot of the crumble and will be pretty good size. The chicks will eat it all. :) they love the grubs.

This works great! I started fermenting my poultry feed and it saves a ton of $. I feed all my birds fermented feed and after about a week of feeding it my geriatric duck even started laying again

Terry thanks for these instructional videos, I built your cabinet incubator design and tested it overnight and works awesome, it does smell of that foam board glue though. I have some Brahma chicken eggs I purchased on eBay on a Little Giant still air incubator which I will transfer them to the cabinet to lockdown mode on the 19th. I have been giving my chickens a daily dose of the leftover super high protein quail feed and they love it and lay more eggs than just on layer pellets.

I like the smell of fermented feed too. :-)

The Asians use the rinse water from washing their rice for making fermented veggies. The rinse water is loaded with the lactobacillus needed for fermentation. You could also use a spoonful of yogurt with live cultures. I've used rice water as a culture to inoculate my fermented mustard greens which I love dearly. It should work very well for making fermented crumbles.

I do some distilling so I’ve always got yeast or turbo yeast, I drop a pinch in to jumpstart fermentation because I’m impatient 🤘

Terry, hey I live in florida as well and have been feeding my 7 chicken hens ferment for a while. If the quail doesn’t eat all that you give them that day do you throw it out? Also with what’s left in the bucket do you add water too daily and stir like they recommend chicken ferment until it’s gone? I’m fearful of it molding. Thank you

I appreciate all your videos they have helped a great deal. My son and I are just starting to raise quail in addition to his already established chicken business. We tried this fermented feed. However, once we mix it and leave it for about two days it develops a think mold layer on the top. We live in Oklahoma so I don't know if it isn't warm enough yet? We are obviously doing something wrong? Any suggestions? Thank you!

While my chickens would kill for their (and quails') fermented feed, my quails simply refused to eat it even if I mix it with their favourite, minced yarrow. Any ideas how to gently coax them into eating fermented food?

Great advice Terry. Along the lines of fermenting, can quail eat kombucha mother or drink kombucha itself. My K mother grows so fast it ends up on the compost heap as I know it's too acidic for the vermiculture bin

Terry, I read back on the comments so I wouldn't ask a duplicate question. I saw you stir your fermenting feed daily. Do you also add more water? It seems like a law of physics is being bent when you end up with so much more feed with fermenting, and only adding the original amount of water.
