Daniel Catalan dirty air is when you don’t want drafting. Especially used during corners. You want air during corners for downforce. Hence it’s called dirty air. You do want ‘dirty air’ in straights to go faster.

There's massive holes in the under tray purely for that reason. It lest air escape and reduces the likelihood of a full blowover.

Saw that too. Outside bottoming out on a turn is dangerous, since your tires lose adhesion. Playing video at one quarter speed makes it obvious.

This is the second bit of Indy footage I've seen, the first being O'Ward's incident. On both occasions, the pit wall wanted a status response and didn't get one. So, I don't know what the comms issue is, but it needs sorting.

The race is on May 26th and starts around 12:00 p.m. Indiana time, so my guess would be around 12:00 am in India though I might be an hour or two off. Not sure if it will be broadcasts any channels in India though there will be streams on reddit.

Watch his entry into the turn. His turn-in doesn't match Rahal's but it seems that his decision to try to follow Graham's wake bit him. His turn-in was shallow, Graham's more squared off. More side Gs, less time turning for Graham. With a different line, Alonzo followed Graham... straight into the wall.

I know I’m in a small minority but I’ve never seen the adoration of Alonso, he’s nothing like in the same class as Senna or Schumacher and the amount of cars he’s wrecked is enormous but of course it’s just my view and most people won’t agree. I just think it’s like a chain reaction , one commentator lauds him up and everyone else follows but I bet if you got Lewis Hamilton in the car the difference would be noticeable and you’d probably get your car back in one piece.

Cant say I have driven Indy in an Indy Car, but have in simulators endlessly - not sure about the qualifying requirements, but there are limitations when it comes to the physics of the Indy Oval, where in the case observed above, in Turn 3, in coming in high, had no room for at least allowing a slight drift for what appears as an over speed in entering the turn in trying to catch up to the car that's ahead - Conclusion , if entering at the same speed as the car ahead, there could have been a better chance to make it through Turn 3 - Further, this is a common mistake at indy -

It's not that easy, when you're under the front car dirty air you lose ground force effect, which means when you try to turn car response is slower the steering included even braking it's more complicated.

That aero package sucks, as soon as he got within a few lengths of the car ahead, the car started pushing/understeer. Definitely disrupted the air over the front wing, it was pretty obvious.. It wouldn't have mattered on 95% of the track except the turn exits.
