oh...much thanks On doing a video..on 'ONE' of my Favourite Ferrari's!!! cheers!....i hope you'll have a Mondial Video at some point as well!!!.... Still Admiring FAN from a distance of Vintage Ferrari's! ...thanks tom! cheers!
Thank you for another tremendous video. Quick question, please, regarding running without the airbox. What concerns, if any, do you have with running without the airbox? I have seen 308s burn without. I despise installing the airbox just for a test drive! Thank you, again, Tom. Dane
The risk of running without the air box can be a couple of things. A back fire could burn something, although there isn’t much to catch fire under the engine cover. The back fire would have to pretty large to do any damage. More importantly, running without an air box will allow dust and dirt into the engine scoring the piston walls. Race cars run without them because the engine only needs to last a race or so before rebuilding. I would imagine an owner would want their engine to last a little longer. A short test drive shouldn’t cause any appreciable damage and it would cost my customers more time and money to have me remove the air box to tweak the carbs while I work on it!
@@tomyangnet I am incredibly appreciative of your detailed response, sir. I apologize that I didn’t see it sooner! You are obviously an expert so I was curious to hear your opinion. Removing, reinstalling, test driving and then repeating the stock airbox is difficult for me. I am now rebuilding the DCNFs on my ‘78 GTS so your other video and this has been beyond valuable to me. Thank you sincerely. Dane
Tom, have you ever watched any of Iain Tyrrell's videos? He's a real whiz at tuning Weber carbs and produces some fascinating videos from his shop in England. I kind of like these 308GT/4's as well, they may not be quite as svelte-looking as some of their siblings but I'll bet they are fun to drive...
