This car is almost 20 years old and looks just as good now as it did then. What a beautiful, timeless design.

This all changed when James May bought one.

This is a job i would dream to have. To wake up in the morning, put on a suit, and know that I get to go be an idiot in a supercar all day long.

Years later, this and the 458 reviews are still some of the best piece of reviewing from Clarkson and Top Gear. The filming, soundtrack and pacing all come together perfectly, and the way Clarkson talks about these cars, mixed with how they sound, makes them seem like what Ferraris are to people: perfect cars

A manual F430 will demand a much higher price these days

I got to drive one of these yesterday around a short race circuit and wow.... Jeremy is spot on with saying it is perfect. Before I could never understand why you would spend that kind of money on a car. After driving it I can totally understand. It was a slice of heaven with wheels.

The Ferrari F430 is becoming desirable among collectors. Clean, low mileage examples are starting to bring in big money.

He's so right about the F430 out-handling everything. I drove a 911, and then an F430 and the Porsche suddenly felt like.. well, a canal boat.

It's almost 2019 and this is still probably my favorite Ferrari apart from the 458

I still think the F430 is the best looking mid-engine Ferrari ever made. And with a 6-speed manual gearbox, this car is simply mind-blowing.

Really really awesome car. Just driven one. Really awesome. They said I was allowed to go 60km/h (I am 15:) ) but when I was at my second lap I went to 150 km/h. It accelerates like a beast.

A few weekends ago got to drive an F430 and a Gallardo on the track. Honestly, the F430, which i drove first exceeded expectations. The sound was brilliant, the feel through the steering wheel, informative. It basically begged you to push it just a bit harder, and reassured you it could handle it (if you could). The Gallardo was super underwhelming. The gearbox, while not great on the F430, was crap. While in the Ferrari, in the corners it would grip and go, the Gallardo's tires would squeal and tell me I was at the cars limit. In a 40mph corner, the Ferrari was telling me that I could still go much faster, the Lambo was squealing and groaning. The understeer was shocking for a car of this caliber. This was my first ever Lambo, and my 2nd Ferrari. Honestly, I grew up with Lamborghini posters and screen savers. While I had an admiration for the "special" Ferraris (F40, Enzo etc), Lambos WERE the dream. After driving them both, I am a Ferrari Convert. My dreams have changed with experience, and my new goal (which is currently attainable within a few years if I keep my mind to it) is an F430 or 360 with that beautiful gates shifter (which I have tested once is the 355). Really, I got off track, but the point is this: Don't get stuck on the preconceived ideas of what a car should be like. I thought the Ferrari would be the poser, I just want to look cool car, and the Lambo was the actual driver's car that made you feel like you just harnessed the bull; when in reality, the opposite was true.

"A Harrier jumpjet at the battle of Agincourt" - this is why Top Gear can't be replicated in Australia, the US, wherever; Jeremy and Co. bring so much cultural significance and knowledge into what they do on the show that it's too unique to be copied. I think that's why people really like Top Gear - they work REALLY hard to make their car reviews relevant to people. They review a car as a piece of machinery AND for what it means to humanity in the bigger picture.

Thing i love about Top gear is that the footage is 15 years old but looks like it was made yesterday.

I love my 430 Spider! I think the Enzo inspired back end looks awesome. Real shame that the 458 Spider also does not have the glass engine cover any more.

I love this car, one of my favorite Ferrari's because they offer it in stick shift (the only way you should buy a supercar). Also, unlike other Ferrari's, this one doesn't require having the engine taken out in order to perform certain maintenance. Jeremy Clarkson makes this Ferrari review like no other, it's awesome!!

I optioned mine with deviating stitching, thicker stitching #2, optional Daytona seats with optional red inserts, optional full power seats, rear leather behind the seats like he said, standard carbon interior and not aluminium look, red brake calipers, Scuderia fender shields, optional spare tyre with tool kit, dedication plate on the dash and chose yellow tachometer.

Who would have thought a drifting Ferrari set to Faure's Pavane could be so soothing?

I don't understand why Top Gear dislikes the look of this car. I agree when they say the 612 and 599 aren't that gorgeous, but I consider this to be one of the most gorgeous Ferraris in existence!

God I love Jeremy. These "older" Ferraris are where it's at. The new ones are great, but these, these are just better.

I'll tell you this, my favorite car is a Corvette. Especially the C7 model. It looks spectacular to me. But if I'm to be honest I wouldn't mind a F430 in my garage next to my Corvette. That would be my ultimate garage.

Goodness, it's all relative isn't it. We complain the cheapest Ferrari still costs $100,000+ but us people who live in Auckland, NZ happily spend 8-10x that amount on some very mediocre houses!
