I could listen to you talk about this car all day. Especially after having driven the 488 and F8. It just gives you an all new appreciation for the 458.
The way you describe 458 driving feel is never ever mentioned in any other video on youtube by professional or owner review. I watched 458 video a lot but i guess your description of how it handles well is the most convincing for me.
Very nice. There's no doubt that the last NA cars from Ferrari and Porsche really are the pinnacle of the sports car. I'm not at all surprised you haven't swapped this for anything newer.
@@shouldigetit I really can't think of anything I would rather have than my silver 997 C2S. So I'll just keep the rest of that $400k in the bank thanks!
The description "biological extension of your body" nails it exactly for me. It drives gloriously. I don't feel the urge to upgrade to a 488, an F 1 tributo or a 296. I love the direct steering, the very good damping which holds the car to the ground after bumps in the road and the high rev screaming. The downsides are the nervous throttle (you learn to cope with it over the time) and that what you called stakkato sound of the exhaust. But that is complaining on a very high level. I literally love this car. Living in Germany I can even give it a flatout on the Autobahn. I feel like I'm a lucky guy.
You are a very lucky man, and have a 911 as well? Did you watch the part of the video mentioning the fix to that nervous throttle? Towards the end. Cheers, Ben
@@shouldigetit Yes, I watched it til the end. I'll check for a better mapping for my 458 Spider. And yes, I own a 911 too. 997 series soft top. But that's all besides a daily driven BMW 5 series touring (station wagon). Greetings Michael
@@sealgrey.911 Pleasure to e-meet you Michael! Love wagons and 997s! Here is a link for the tuner www.openflashtablet.com/shop/openflash-tablet-for-ferrari-458-italia/ - Ben
Great video! I’m likely going to get a 458 in the next 3-4 years when the kids leave for college. Can you speak to reliability? I’m not planning on tracking it btw. Did you get it new or used? How many miles and how many per year do you put in it would you estimate? Any certain mileage where big issues tend to occur? Im not concerned with maintenance, just if there are known issues at certain stages of the cars life. Thanks in advance
Sorry for just seeing this, made a totally separate video to discuss reliability hope you saw it, if not just search on my channel. I know you watched this so long ago but would you mind subscribing if you haven't already? Need 12 more to get to 100,000. Thank you!
I really enjoyed your review.. After couple 911s (GTS and turbo), NIssan GTR, MB AMG GTR I am starting to look for a Ferrari (I want NA 458 Italia in this case). Anything to pay attention when buying this car? Thank you.
Did you end up buying one? I know you watched this so long ago but would you mind subscribing if you haven't already? Need 12 more to get to 100,000. Thank you!
I absolutely live for that deep burble sound at 5:34 . It sounds so mean and aggressive and probably sounds like thunder to an unsuspecting non car person lol This is just more motivation for me to do well in life to be able to obtain cars like this.
Awesome video. Very interesting to hear what modifications you’ve done to the car from the perspective of an engine tuner by trade. I bet the car fits like a perfectly-tailored glove now.
Thinking between getting a f430 or 458 in the next 2-3 years. U think they will have big changes in pricing in this time? U have any experience which one would be more reliable? Loved the 430 since I was a kid but the 458 is way more modern
I'm not too sure and Shiv hasn't owned an F430. I do think that the 458 may go up a lot in price 3 years from now but it is lowering in price recently. -Ben Would you mind subscribing if you haven't already? Need 12 more to get to 100,000. Thank you!
@@shouldigetit ok subbed to you bro . I have a test drive for a Roma upcoming with a Novitec exhaust system. I loved the sf90 Interieur and the 458 came a bit oldish afterwards. But sf90 is kinda outta my league unfortunately 😭 maybe some day
Great car. As you said, no temptation to buy the newest models. In fact, the 458 is probably more fun to drive on the road than either the 488 or F8 while being extremely reliable.
@@shouldigetit If you’re talking about the video, I came across it because I scour RU-vid for good Ferrari content. If you’re talking about the car, I’ve loved Ferraris since I was a child. I’m 24 now and I’m nowhere near the capacity to buy one but in the future, I will. How did you get into Ferraris?
Hey Anton, sorry I never got a notification about your response. I've loved Ferraris since seeing the 355 as a kid and the 458 is also my dream car! -Ben P.S would really appreciate you subscribing! :)
Did I get my EVO (Mitsubishi) tuned by you back in the day. You were driving an Aprilia back then too? Anyways. Thinking of trading my 720s Spider (which I love) for a 458 Italia coupe. Why - I really like the 458 and it would be a keeper. The Mclaren is great but not something I want to collect and I have a Z06 convertible on order - your thoughts ? I’m also a Ducati rider too now.
Very high chance that you got your tunes from THE Shiv! Message him on Instagram it's in the description of the video but I think he'd agree with you that you should trade the 720 for a 458 and enjoy it for life! -Ben
What did these cost used before biden destroyed the economy & car market? I absolutely love this car(especially with a Novitec setup) & will definitely shop them if we get out of this clown matrix. Those seats look gorgeous btw
458 has been my dream car since the day it came out and I got to drive one for a day in Malibu a few years ago and I loved it. Hopefully I’m able to purchase one in the near future 🙏
What an incredible video. And unlike a lot of videos, you didn’t talk over our heads. Thank you. It makes me love my Maserati GT MC even more. Similar engine.
@@shouldigetit Done and I am also getting feedback on the new 296 GTB vs. GTS with the same reviews that the GTB is a better handing car compared to the GTS convertible. What's interesting price wise in Canada is a new base 296 GTB is $312,000 and a 2014 or 2015 458 with low km and a Berlinetta hardtop is around $275,000 to $300,000 (CAD). Which would you choose? Congratulations on the 100k subs.😊✅🇨🇦👍
How have I only come across this channel. The way you describe the driving feel is very enjoyable to listen to. Now going to scroll your channel hoping you have done similar with that FF I saw at the start. Subscribed.

I've owned my 458 for almost 2 years now. You have a nicely specced one. I love it. Mine is a 2010 as well. Love the burbles in my car. Stereo system sucks and no backup camera sucks too. I wish mine had black carpet. I have the tan carpet like. yours. My F430 Spider has black carpet, which is much better.
He's a spectacular driver! I know you watched this so long ago but would you mind subscribing if you haven't already? Need 12 more to get to 100,000. Thank you!
If I ever own a Ferrari, I would own it with pride. Daily it if possible, sometimes run the gears up and down to enjoy the music from the flatplane crank V8.
I drove a 458 on track with all the "stuff" turned off a while back, I share your opinion, I have an Alfa Quadrifoglio atm, almost a 4 door version of the 458 honestly......love it, I am actually looking to buy a 458 now as well, the ultimate pair for me. Out of interest is your map available to buy ?? we run 98 octane here tho ?
Hey man, how much are you paying each year in maintenance? My daily drive is a 2015 911 carrera and the maintenance isn’t that bad. I only payed 65k for the 911 but I’m looking into the 458!
Not sure if you ever got an answer. I have a 2019 GT3 RS and a 2014 458 Italia. I’m located in Houston, Texas. Annual service for the RS is about $400 at an indy. About $650 at the dealer. For the 458 annual service is $1700 at the dealer. I imagine it’s a few hundred cheaper at an indy. Biennial service for the 458 is $2700 at the dealer (where I live). I’m sure it’s several hundred cheaper at an indy. The 3/4/5 year Ferrari service is $5500 at my dealer. I do it at year 4 to split the baby. My Porsche is $2700 at the dealer for the 4-year service. I end up doing 1 year, 2 year, 1 year, and 4 year service for the Ferrari - in that order. Works out to $1700, $2700, $1700, and $5500. In sum, the Ferrari is a little more expensive to maintain but it’s not so much that you’d find it offensive. The RS and 458 are a great duo to own. I imagine you’d be happy with the Porsche-Ferrari duo as well. Take care.
There is nothing like driving with the gated manual shifter and clutch of the old school exotics, that was pure, true driving. Not a fan of the paddle fingertip shifter at all.
Thank you Adam! From what I know, Shiv has never lusted for a 6-speed in the 458 as the steering is so quick the paddle are actually helpful here! We discussed a lot more about the transmission in this second video: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-6OrKG_KR0So.html -Ben

lots of reviewers stated that the car can kill you if you are not mindful of the rear end as it can step out any moment. But you think the car is quite stable. What do you say to that?
Shiv says: "I’m not aware of any decent driver who has said that the 458 is a tricky car to drive at the limit. Other than the limits being quite high and that small inputs can have big outputs by virtue of its lovely balance. But that just makes it more enjoyable for someone who has a decent understanding of vehicle dynamics. Sometimes I think the people who say otherwise are the same people who drive with all the nannies on and still attempt to characterize how a car handles. They aren’t evaluating handling balance but rather the stability control system trying to make sense of their inputs." -Ben Thanks for watching!
I have driven one of these. A wonderful drivers car indeed...😍 Ferrari seemed to have lost that now with more recnt cars with stupid, annoying electronic haptics etc. I love the way you reverted the map to basically how the car was intended to run and sound. Nice one! #Jealous! 😜
I believe it's around $2,000. -Ben I know you watched this so long ago but would you mind subscribing if you haven't already? Need 12 more to get to 100,000. Thank you!

@@shouldigetit I have a 458 too and my friend is about to make a feature video of it at some point so I was actually searching a bit which points to tell about it. My favorite thing about the car is the sound. And exterior and interior design and transmission are so great too. After driving 360 Spider for 8 years the 458 feels so next level 😍

@@shouldigetit I will! There is a video of me and my old 360 in my friends channel already. It is in Finnish but it has subtitles if I remember correctly.
Only things I didn't like were seats as you mentioned, and the short paddles. So I traded for one with race seats and added OEM long paddles. Now it's perfect!
