This car is perfection. The owner did a great job with the wheels, and it sounds like its running perfectly. To the "popcorn" below; I have nothing to say to you.
I dont think they could ever manage to get the authentic feeling with this car again. Cars are way too efficiently manufactured to run and sound smoothly with all these electrics and i guess cars today have a thousand different rules and regulations that they need to abide with when designing and manufacturing. Thats why would im sure they could make something that looks like the f40 but it would have that iconic crackling, rattling, backfires etc that make it what it is.
Nick C a replica company should make authorized replicas of the F40, just like Superformance did their extremely good copies of their GT40's, first gen corvettes and MKII-MKIV cobras
There's nothing wrong with that engine. I followed an F40 through the tunnel at the Monaco GP 12 years ago and it sounded the exact same. On the second lap, a 355 and a then very early 360 overtook our rented car and raced the guy in the F40. There was 5 people in our car SCREAMING our heads of at the spectacle happening before us but no one could here over the exhaust noise in the tunnel that night. The F40 is King!
F40= the best sensory input car I've ever had a chance to drive. And to replace timing belts and turbos...just awesome and different.. Car sure did set the bar high for me.
While I'm depressed, I just watch this video to smile 😆. One of the best cars ever built. One of the best sound-effects ever. No more to say. Simply the best. 👌
Clearly people don't know what they're talking about. The F40 naturally has that much spatter and crackle, with the CAT's out, and the boost up. Not to mention, the way he was driving was on/off boost, without changing gears, which sends the air/fuel ratio into the basement, causing heavy backfire. Jesus people, learn a bit about cars before you comment.
LOL when you realize all people need to do to up engine performance internally is: Injectors, fuel pump, pistons, cams, crankshaft and so on... You slowly realize how "exaggerated" this car is. If you want a piece of engineering.. Look up the "Audi Sport Quattro S1" ..
That doesn't mean anything. We import right handed drive cars into NA all the time. Why can't they import a left hand driven Ferrari F40 into Japan? If he's driving one then he certainly has the money to do so.
Video should be titled Ferrari backfire through tunnel... I wanted to see some real acceleration not just a bunch of videos of him letting off the gas in the tunnel to hear some backfiring... fail. boo
No. I'm saying that a 16 cylinders road car with 1000hp is something stupid. Is a great engineering achievement, but pointless. You have a car that can go up to 400 kph, but only for no more than 30 km, because after that the tyres will melt. Tell me if it's something clever. Also, it is a car without any soul. What i was saying in first place is that if you are a billionaire without any idea of what some supercars are and how should be treated, you shouldn't buy a Ferrari.
It is a pity that the Enzo Ferrari can not design a new engine as of 2012. Currently, the company does not have Ferrari the best car in the world, is almost at the end of the list of the fastest cars. Such a great car powinin be the best because this was created, no luxury and goodies. Pure sports car. Why Ferrari and Lamborghini is now the worst sports cars?. Look and sound beautiful but lose all the new brands. Ferrari abandoned the goal that we set a Ferrari Enzo.
Yeah, i hate nowadays cars, heavier and bigger due to "security" reasons, whenever something goes wrong, or even if you add some oil, you must take it to the garage for them to plug their f*cking computer to switch off the warning light (and of course, you pay for that sh*it) ... Even changing a light bulb now requires special tools ... Now you spend as much as the price of your car in maintenance, nothing can be done by yourself...
engine overrun... basically you dump excess fuel through the motor when not accelerating to cool the exhaust. I would also guess that that isn't an entirely stock exhaust, or depending on the year, might not even have catalytic converters, thus allowing a very free-flowing system where that excess fuel absorbs heat and then combusts at the end, giving the blue flames.
No electronic aids, manual transmission and weight 2400 lbs ...the interior look like crap but still over 1300 F40s were sold at a price of $400,000 in 1987 that's like $800,000 in today's money, it is that good! ...of course newer models are faster but this is just plain sick
It's kinda stupid how many people put down the rich because they aren't rich themselves...maybe the guy just works his ass off and is smart with his money. It isn't all Ferraris and Lamborghinis all the time, he probably has to work and sleep 98% of his time and then drive for 2%.
They do though...look up any of the other videos in the sidebar of f40s doing drivebys, anything with 'f40 exhaust' in the title, they ALL do it. The sound on this one is just more noticeable cause the camera car is up close to it and he spends most of his time on the overrun
bad concept for a sports car, a car isnt just a sports car for the engine capacity, or power output, honda civic type r, lotus elise, swift gti, all of them are real sports car and the are below 2.0l, the importan thing is the balance, the driving feel, and many other things
I know, but i will keep on saying that he's a stupid. Buying something without knowing, just because someone can, it's stupid. It's perfectly possible and has to be allowed, obviously. But it remains something terribly stupid.
Well, i assumed you knew that Wolkswagen bought the Bugatti brand years ago and the Veyron has been desinged by their engineers. But probably I was wrong thinking you knew something more than a 6 years old kid. Sorry.
christ the f40 just keeps getting better looking with age. in my opinion still the baddest looking supercar ever made if you see one of these in your mirror your getting out of the way sharpish
that car sounds like crap when decelerating. Sounds like a crotch rocket with aftermarket exhaust. On the gas, sounds pretty good, other than that, BOO! He's compensating for something.
nah its just 1980s turbo tuning without a fuck given for nanny-state emissions legislation. they had a screamer pipe off the waste gate from the factory too
I like how everyone is trolling on Bugatti...it's the most amazing piece of engineering automobile on the planet...and it's not German you fools..it's French
Bue lamborgini niño u co petición en la vida nunca ja ezo es el rey del campeón auto mo yri lamborgini de tractor noce ezo ra el campeo f1 ferrary laborgi ganó algo así o tiene historia
I swear to God I'll work so hard I'll get one in cash. Just early in the process. See you in 3/4 years guys, wish I'll find this comment and show you proof
You know the flames and exhaust pops got played out when people have installed them on their cheap old Hyundai cars. It's no longer cool but a complete nuisance.
The F40 was one of the original machines that did that from the factory (Ferrari's own promotional videos show it backfiring and popping on overrun). But in this case it was "organic", not something an ECU engineer programmed to force to happen (e.g., Jaguar F-type, modern Porsches/BMW/Mercedes).
