Really love the 430, several years with mine already and I never get tired of this car! The combination of the change to the modern but still with an older analog touch was just right on this car!
Coupe all the way... If the 430 was a hard top spider like the 458,488 etc. perhaps the spider, but the cloth top never looks good closed. Could also be that I own a 430 coupe... who knows!! lol Craig from Indy
Prefer the spider as that’s the one I bought a few years ago. Absolutely love it, problem free. By the way, thanks for showing in another vid about the Hill engineering wheel spacers. Bought them, big difference, especially in appearance.
You got some pinch marks on the top of the spider canvas. Gotta adjust that support bar or replace straps soon. That’s my ONLY gripe with the spider - all of the unreliability and maintenance is in the top. That’s why I’ve been thinking about just making a removable hard top for it and throwing that dumb top away… Or at least converting it to a manually operated item. It can be manually operated anyway, with a few mods, it seems like it’s possible to get rid of all these complicated hydraulics and just always take 5 minutes to put the top up on your own.
@@normalguysupercar Yikes. I wonder if they screwed up the elastic straps then? I also found that when you are adding the main canvas top there is a piece of fabric that connects the top to the main cross bar. It wraps around the back of the bar, which means the straps have to do most of the work pulling that bar back when it folds. But if you actually wrap that fabric piece around the front of the bar, then the canvas top itself pulls the bar back instead of the straps, so then the straps don’t matter much anymore. In other words, the factory installed the fabric backwards (IMO). Lol… I’m sure you’re not surprised.
Spider is better because it doesn’t matter as much when the a/c breaks which it frequently does. And you can hear the motor better. And let’s be real the extra weight doesn’t matter on the road
I really enjoy your videos. They are fun and informative. Both 430s are just splendid. I am interested in an Antigravity battery for my 2006 Maserati Gransport. Does the Gransport take the same AG battery model that fits a 430? The powerplants are very similar. In the Gransport, the battery sits in the trunk behind a panel on the RHS.
It has nothing to do with power plants, but everything to do with room. Your car takes the AG H6. Make sure you get the 60ah version as your car is power hungry.

Nice video Dan! I do prefer the coupe due to not having to deal with top issues, but they spyders do allow the glorious exhaust note to be heard. Did the same person own both cars? Lol. What are the odds of you having two cars with the Daytona seat colors like that, leather inner door sills and challenge wheels. I want that carbon center section for my steering wheel!
Both cars do fall within what some would either call a resale spec or "My first Ferrari spec". Rosso Corsa on tan with Daytona seats is not exactly rare.😀
For me it's drop top 90% of the time. I'm aware that there are some drawbacks, but on the read, especially here in Europe where I am, the difference in stiffness is manageable. Can obviously depend of which car it is, but in a car like an 812 GTS, SF90 or F8, drop top every single time. The F430 is the same for me. Not a track car anyway, so just chop the top and give me that open top experience. The exception for me is the 458. I really don't like the Spider. Not sure how they made that so wobbly.
Instantly noticed the gated manual version you were driving! Would you say it’s worth the huge premium over the equivalent F1 cars? Been eyeing both but have been discouraged by how big of a disparity there is in pricing.
Also depends on your road conditions. If you are in a place with really nice roads, even when you start to push, you notice it less. If you are in a place with crap roads as is the case in many places in the US, even just driving along can cause the car to shimmy and flex around you. But the F430 is not the worst in this regard.
hello dan I can have some advice on how to change my clutch on a 4.2 liter Maserati F1 I removed the entire exhaust line, unscrew the clutch housing, remove all the cables, unscrew all the screws of the front and rear driveshaft, but I I have a problem getting the transmission shaft out, do I have to remove the gearbox? certainly but how can you explain to me, I stall at this level my car is on the bridge do you have a technical repair manual ? many thank for your answer .
@normalguysupercar looking forward to seeing it completed. I have owned a few locations for my business, and I hated the build-outs. Some locations require a licensed contractor to complete the work and others not so much.
