Founded by Enzo Ferrari in 1939 as Auto Avio Costruzioni, Ferrari built its first car in 1940. However the company's inception as an auto manufacturer is usually recognized in 1947, when the first Ferrari-badged car was completed.
Fiat acquired 50 percent of Ferrari in 1969 and expanded its stake to 90 percent in 1988. In October 2014 Fiat Chrysler Automobiles announced its intentions to separate Ferrari from FCA; as of the announcement FCA owned 90 percent of Ferrari.
Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it is the most successful racing team, holding the most constructors championships and having produced the highest number of winning drivers. Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of speed, luxury and wealth.

Business Casual - I can imagine that :) But seriously though, Nepotism is never a good thing for obvious reasons. Nobody want to be foregone for a less qualified candidate, whether they're family, or their company has to meet certain mandatory quotas... I totally agree on the engineers stance.

Yeah, nepotism sucks, but I kinda feel for Enzo. His son had just died, he was utterly devastated and became reclusive, distancing himself from the day-to-day operations of his company. That's one of the main reasons Laura ended up so bossy in the first place: Enzo's absence left a managerial void that she was happy to fill.

There are a lot of examples of family run companies that has been headed by the same family for generations, which has turned out to become and stay hugely successful.

Schumi didn't go to Ferrari for the money, that's not fair to say. He was already a world champion at that time, he could've made similar money at other teams, teams that had their shit together, as opposed to Ferrari. Out of sheer passion for cars and racing he took on the monumental challenge of helping Ferrari back to glory, and he did so in the most spectacular way ever seen in F1. Which is why I think Schumacher is the greatest of all time.

jean Todt wasn't the head of Ferrari. That was Luca Montezemolo. Todt was boss of the F1 race team.

The better story is that of the Lamborghini.. Ferruccio Lamborghini originally manufactured tractors, not sports cars. Basically Enzo was a good friend of his, and Ferruccio criticized him quite frequently, saying that the Ferrari could be better if he changed it in certain ways. Enzo got angry and told him that if he was so certain on how to create a better car, then do it.. And he did just that. The Lamborghinis we know today are essentially a result of a pissing contest between Enzo and Ferruccio.

Kind of, The Countach which inspires V12 Lamborghini's today was premiered in 1974 which was a year of desperation for Lamborghini, that same year Ferruccio sold his stake in Lamborghini to a friend and retired from the company. Ferruccio was only with is car company for 11 years before losing his interest in the business.

Sadly all most all of car enthusiasts can't actually afford either of these but spoiled idiots who don't know the Lamborghini Gallardo got replaced by the Huracan can afford more than 1 of these.

you skipped the part where Enzo nearly sold the company to ford in '63 making Bill Ford the II Mad causing ford to create a race program of their own and thus lost to the Ford GT 40 in '66

True. Ferrari would have been owned by Ford and the GT40 perhaps would never have been as legendary as it is today. I don't really remember the details but the deal broke down at the very last minute. This would've spun off a whole different timeline to what we know today.

Hatori Hanzo It's said that Enzo rejected the deal at the last minute because he read in a part of the contract that he forgot to check that lending his company to Ford will also mean he will have to let Ford supervise Scuderia Ferrari too, which he didn't want to.

That moment when getting stoned to death by information is a pleasant experience haha. Indeed, making a video for Lamborghini would be a great continuation to this one. It'd make for a great intro too, trying their story back to Ferrari's. Don't expect it too soon though, since we prefer to cover companies from different industries to keep the channel's content more diverse. That said, we'll definitely get around to Lamborghini in the future!

I noticed some jagged edges on your cutouts. Try the refine edge tool in photoshop (CTRL+ALT+R). Play with those settings to make a preset you can use for the rest of your images to quickly smooth the edge selection. This was a good watch. I would love to see how that car switcharoo went down in the inspection.

Speaking as a true car guy, and somewhat of a car nerd i disagree. You cannot simply categorize cars as "Regular" and "sports". For example: 4x4s, Coupes, Sports cars, Hyper cars, Super cars, SUVs, Peoplecarriers/minivans, Drift cars, the list goes on and on.

I really hate what the Ferrari cars have become today - a symbol of power for people with way too much time and too few skills on their hands. Visit London and you'll see spoilt lads driving Ferraris slower than old ladies in wheelchairs. Enzo would've never EVER wanted that. He wanted his engines and cars to be treated recklessly. His cars were meant to driven furiously and with pride, not to become symbols of luxury and arrogance. I really hate what the corporates at Ferrari did after Enzo died. Just imagine, a man who would literally blow engines up to test their durability and drive Ferraris like crazy, and now his cars are owned by arrogant, talentless rich freaks that cannot even distinguish between the Ferrari logo and the Scuderia Ferrari logo. I am proud to say that I am still an original Ferrari fan who loves the cars for their engines and not because they are symbols of power.
