I've watched the Ferrari movie just 2 days ago, but I can say this documentary on RU-vid beats it absolutely. The deep research paid off this masterpiece of a video.
This is an absolutely beautifully made documentary. It easily does the fascinating life of Enzo Ferrari justice. Even as someone who's not interested in sports cars, Enzo Ferrari is a figure in human history, that I can't stop learning about. Thank you so much for this entertaining and highly informative film!
I love stories around the beginnings of the automobiles and all the influential figures of the time, Enzo Ferrari easily one of the greats...Italy has such a great wealth of motoring icons and motorsports
Ave Enzo Ferrari, Ave Impressive, exceptional man, a life of enterprise, engineering, innovation and entrepreneurship Inspiring story of a true genius of the Automobile Industry. His legacy lives on forever.
i for one love the ferrari brand. their cars, history, even logo is all something that mean a lot to me. and i feel enzo ferrari was a legend. comeplere legend and even that isnt enough to describe him honestly. the company he created will carry on forever as a statement of who he was and what he stood for. i look up to enzo ferrari. he is quite honestly my idol
@ dat 1200....Yes...the story of Ferrari is , well. Big. .! Between the racing division on one hand, and the street cars on the other, it is a gigantic subject. Those 50's and 60"s front engines Ferraris with the. V - 12 engines and Pininfarina bodies were the coolest ever. As a kid I would ride my bicycle up to Bob Grossman's Exotic car dealership on Route 59 in Nyack, NY. in 1965 -66 he had every cool auto, Maserati, Alfa Romeo, Abarth, Ferrari, Jaguar Cobra, ...that is where I first saw the exotics and my first car was a 1961 Alfa Romeo 2000 Spyder with Supperlegarra Touring body in Pearl white. !! That Alfa sells for over. $ 100,000 nowadays. . I bought it from a college kid from Ho-Ho Kus New Jersey in April 1968. for. $ 725. yeah...and now I don"t even drive.
I saw the movie Ferrari three days ago. Thoroughly enjoyed watching this documentary about the life of Enzo Ferrari, incredibly driven and successful engineer and entrepreneur. RIP
Brilliant documentary. I was shocked to hear of all the deaths, I had no idea. Certainly was a dangerous game. Soothing voice of the narrator too. What a life the man did live. Phew. Well done.
FERRARI!!! FERRARI!! FERRARI!!! The master of engineers!!! Ascari prince of the tracks!!! Lauda the real professor!!! Villeneuve the magician at the wheel!!! Schumacher the master of the races!!!
Enzo Ferrari's birth date was actually February 18th. His father said he couldn't register his birth until 2 days later because of a snow storm. Enzo celebrated his birthday on the 18th.
Ferrari will always be the greatest supercar brand for me. The beautiful and classy designs, the wonderful engines that sound like symphony and the glorious racing history with countless of race wins and championships. Ferrari has got it all and much more. Long live the Prancing Horse!
@@garycamara9955...Mostly by Pininfarina...but every aspect of those designs were approved or modified by Enzo himself. Ferrari 's concept and commitment was to the ART of the automobile. A hand made object of Art. Not a mass produced transportation device. There is no reason to compare him or his work to big impersonal corporations. It was art for arts sake.
... Horsepower 523. !! yes .. is there any. logo more powerful and beautiful than the Black Prancing Horse on the yellow background inside a shield. ! It is too perfect.
@@garycamara9955 What difference is that supposed to make lol? They're all FERRARIS. You see the Prancing Horse logo on the cars? That means it's 100% made by Ferrari. The most beautiful cars and engines ever produced.
Enzo Ferrari is a man who lived his dream. Enzo's racing team's 🏁 driver deaths sadly was a part of racing during the age. Jack Stewart once said that it was a period in racing history when "sex was safe and racing was dangerous." I'm sure Enzo would have preferred that no driver ever died. Enzo did wasn't without his flaws. However Enzo's decision to sell to Fiat and not Ford was his best decision. He finally got his dream to focus on the racing 🏁 team while Fiat focused on the Ferrari road cars. I don't think the Ferrari road cars would be the quality and beautiful design under Ford ownership. Tho it did spirehead some exciting history for Ford. Remaining under Italian ownership and design retained it's prestige in world class sports. It is wonderful to learn that ownership in shares by his son Pierro and John Alcan retaining it Italian heritage... Rest in Peace Enzo Ferrari!! 🏁 🏆
Decided to spend 5 seconds on Michael Schumacher who contributed the most to Ferrari's F1 success. Didn't even mention Jean Todt or Ross Brawn. 😮 Good documentary, Enzo Ferrari had true passion and build one of the most iconic cars ever.
Back in the day, if you were a up and coming, young, driver you'd die for a ride with Ferrari. This competitive, passion is still evident today, even with the safety measures that make this endeavor a lot less hazardous. The beauty, sound, dominance, and passion of this man's cars, have captured the elements that turn a fascination into a life long obsession, with these cars and this brand. I've been hooked since 1958.
Well I own a 308QV, so I very much respect the marque having previously owned a 348SS. He was a bit ruthless, but you have to be to win so many races. I recently saw the movie and after seeing this documentary, I am struck by both the passion of the man and the tragedy he suffered in this life. May he RIP and I will always be a TIFOSI!!!
I give a big hug to Ferrari Team..Ferrari is fore me car number 1🏎️♥️
A complicated man who only cared about racing and his cars winning. As the incidents with Moss, Lauda, Surtees and others proved, (Villeneuve may have been the only exception), it was the car that mattered, not the man who drove it. Along with Gianni Agnelli, the man who defined and represented Italy globally in the second half of the 20th Century.
A detailed biography presented well. Enzo was like a boxer he played to win anyway he could. He took the hits and came back to defend each time. Most accounts paint him as an impatient man lacking in compassion for all except family with a short temper but focused on his goals. He was a winner. Cheers 🇨🇦
Enzo was definitely a winner and a man with incredible willpower and determination. He created the most legendary car brand despite all the tragedies and difficulties he had to endure during his life. Through hardships to the stars. Great man. I have only massive respect for him.
@@twofiftyseven5365 Those tragedies were HIS OWN DOING... All those people he was responsible for getting killed is not something to be glorified.. Then again, he was part of the Axis Powers, so life didn't matter to him
@@SmithCommaBenjamin..@smith Auto racing in the old days was a very dangerous sport. Heck... look at Colin Chapman and Lotus.. Jim Clark ,the great, died in a Lotus Formula 2 car in 1968.
It's too easy to paint a portrait of any leader of a major enterprise as lacking in compassion; With more than 20 til 50 employees it becomes impossible to demonstrate compassion towards each and every person.
I enjoyed this video all about a great man. I learned more about the man, his life, and his cars. Very well done, in my opinion. Keep up the good work! I would really like to see a biography of the Maserati brothers who were strong competitors to Ferrari.
@ Paul Smith.. sure ..there were 7 Maserati brothers, six of whom were involved in the auto company. One was an artist. There history is fascinating, even producing spark plugs to keep the business going in hard times. The 3500 GT was one of my favorite cars. Body was by Superlegarra Touring.....1963. , 1965.
Actually, Enzo Ferrari was born on the 18th of February 1898. Due to heavy snow storms, his Father could not register his birth until the 20th of February, and back then in Italy, date of births were based on when the birth was registered. In most cases, this would have been on the day of the birth, but on occasions, such as happened with Enzo Ferrari, the registration was delayed until a day or two later.
Great doc. I’ve always been extremely fascinated by Mr. Ferrari so this sudden influx of books and movies and documentaries about him and his cars is a real treat. He’s a very interesting person.
As motosport fan who grows up see the golden era of Schumacher and Ferrari only i say congratulations for an extense job with the biography of the "Commendatore", i know about his life, his succeses and his failures but basically this video shows how the person was and how worked without any fails or exagerations, just remeber the history of the men who became in legend and the legend who became in a icon for motosport and popular culture, obviously suscribed and see all of your videos men, respect and thank you
People race and build cars and bikes because of their addiction to speed and a passion for adrenaline (and often glory). The quest for beauty and art form should not be forgotten. Everyone who has this addiction knows the risks. Enzo's passion and legacy was emergent from varied and multiple talents. He was a master artist, engineer, visionary, entrepreneur, sportsman and perfection driven businessman who knew what he wanted to achieve. Long live his legacy! The most beautiful and thrilling cars ever constructed. FERRARI !!!!!
The creation of the Ferrari car is also based on the blood, the wounds and the death of the racers who showed the heroism themselves and unpredictable coolness in critical situations till the end,and so this everything laid the foundation to next steps of the Ferrari car's improvement. And the lives of the whole family in themselves, the lives of the personnel as a whole heroically contributed to the enterprise called FERRARI.
Thank you Enzo for your pioneering spirit. We wouldn't have the tech now without your input.Your Life experience is an inspiration for all of us car enthusiasts. RIP
I saw my first red Ferrari near Verona where I was born at a young age of 10..early 1960..ever since then my dream is to own one ......great marvelous documentary about the great Enzo Ferrari.....remember what he said once : donne e motori sono gioie e dolori !!.....R.I.P.
I forgot the time for it, but one older, black and white picture, there was a guy in the picture, in the back row, who looked eerily similar to Michael Schumacher. Too old a photo to be him, but it seemed like a premonition. I've never been a huge fan of Ferrari, but this was very interesting to watch.
🙏ty for this interesting documentary, it’s so interesting to c how ferrari & auto vehicle manufacturers &/or motorsport teams evolve thru the yrs especially from enzo’s humble beginnings enzo is a legend 🐐🐐🐐
Excellent . . Excellent. Such a beautiful chronicle of one of the great risk takers of the 20th century. An icon of the racing and automotive industry. I've know people who knew the old man personally and were welcomed to his office. Thank you for this presentation.
Thank ypu for this masterpice vlog of Italian sports car history! This was amazing in depth and details. Like here, there are always many unexpected turns and phases in the history of companies like this. Although knowing to some extent the history of car manufacturers, I had no idea of the details and turns this document did reveal. As 'apassionati di marchi automobistici italiani' 🇲🇽 we all are happy that events lead finally to birth of Scuderia Ferrari. There were many opprtunities that it could have ended differently. Fate or luck has fingers on the 'pulse'. Luckily so. Formula One without Ferrari is like a man without clothes.
Great video. As to your last question the young men he 'sent off to their deaths' knew what they were getting into - nobody held a gun to their heads. Motor racing was and is a dangerous occupation one that Enzo himself experienced,
This plugged several gaps in my memories of the early years . Thank you for such an un sensational documentary. Really hoping for solid results this year 2024.
No scarifies no victory . He deserved to get what he been honour for.. from the video we understand.. the journey of enzo ferrary in word of autmotive is hard.. but one thing we learn from the journey he never give up.. the stoy from the video give us the prove.. he stand on his foot in the arena till 90 years old.. its almost a decade.. show us long period hard time for him . He deserved to get for what world had honoured him.
He cannot be accused of 'sending young drivers to their deaths'.. He was no politician or Field Marshall. There will always be a group of talented young drivers desperate to test their potential in whatever car is available, keeping them out of a car would be way more difficult than getting them into one, and the faster the car, irrespective of the increased risks, will always be their first choice.
Agreed! I would be proud to fight for my country but young men have been treated like pawns by narcissistic politicians for centuries! They are the enemies of the human race! Not the engineering geniuses that aspire to improve our lives! They are also exploited by politicians! You can debate this many ways ! (Oh how I wish I owned a Ferrari! )
Enzo was undoubtedly one of a kind and brilliant in many ways. His legacy lives on with the name Ferrari being the most successful sports car of all time and the most desirable.
I know it’s late, but CONGRATS ON 1 MILLION subscribers! I don’t even know when that threshold was crossed recently, but I’m happy you’re in the bigger leagues now and more people are appreciating what this history / biography channel has been doing for a long time 🎉🎉🎉
Ferrari is by far the most successful F1 team in history, becoming the first to celebrate its 1,000th race at the Tuscan Grand Prix in 2020. It won its first constructors' title in 1961 with Phil Hill, Richie Ginther and Wolfgang von Trips leading its line-up, although the German driver was killed at the penultimate race having led the drivers' standings going into the Italian Grand Prix at Monza. Controversially the race wasn't stopped after the accident, allowing Hill to take the chequered flag and the title by a single point.
To answer the narrator's question - I think he was both. In his later years he was slow to adapt and a bit of a traditionalist. The garagisti started to run rings around him and it took new engineering and management o get Ferrari back to the front.
Enzo will always be a man of the broadest possible experience in history, and his history in racing and car making rather than politics will rank him highest.
They knew the job was dangerous when they took it! I’d risk my life for the opportunity personally. Mr. Ferrari wasn’t “sending” anyone out to their death. That’s car racing man! It’s wild , it as lifestyle chosen by heart.
I'm no "petrol head", but I do enjoy this channel. In particular, the clear and concise narration (voice similar to John Hurt). The Italian pronunciation is pretty spot on too!
Throughout its history, the company has been noted for its continued participation in racing, especially in Formula One, where it is the oldest and most successful racing team, holding the most constructors' championships (16) and having produced the highest number of drivers' championship wins (15).[13] Ferrari road cars are generally seen as a symbol of speed, luxury and wealth.[14] Ferrari cars are built at the 165,000 square-metre (16.5-hectare) Maranello factory.[15] In 2014 Ferrari was rated the world's most powerful brand by Brand Finance.[16] As of 2021, Ferrari is the 10th-largest car manufacturer by market capitalisation, with $52.21 billion.[17]
Ferrari is known worldwide as the quintessential racing and sport cars. Since the only constant is change records are broken and new technologies are created. History though has etched the red Ferraris into our collective memory.
While the mediocre and ambitious American presidents and the paranoid Soviet tsars competed for world hegemony, two men defined the century of automobiles. One of them was Enzo Ferrari and the other was Ferdinand Porsh. The Austrian approached Hitler and the Italian prospered during Mussolini's regime. Both managed to survive the war and distance themselves from the defeated totalitarian regimes. Ferrari became a true icon of the success of design and the Italian automobile industry in the post-war period. But it was Formula-1 that made him a global myth.
"I have, in fact, no interest in life outside racing cars." "Racing is a great mania to which one must sacrifice everything, without reticence, without hesitation" "The Ferrari is a dream - people dream of owning this special vehicle and for most people it will remain a dream apart from for those lucky few." "Ferrari is one of those special companies that sell significantly less of its core products than of its complementary merchandising products and services. This is possible because the cars represent a lifestyle that millions of people around the world aspire to, but which is out of reach for the average consumer due to its high price range. Merchandising products, on the other hand, represent these values perfectly and are much more affordable, so the masses buy key chains, mugs, and t-shirts. Branding is an art that aims to have your brand represent a well-defined value. When your company has become synonymous with the solution, you have got a winner." Enzo Ferrari, creator of the best known Brand in the world.
The story of Ferrari is the story of racing itself. If racing was a religion, Ferrari would be the true one. The pink mist descended upon him, and he engineered things in anger, and so manifested the immortal prance.
@@catholicdad It's all figurative language and you need to understand racing culture. The "pink mist" is a high level concentration where you stop thinking to do things and just go brainless. The logistics of driving is not new, even the Egyptians would read the natural world like a dashboard to know when to plant etc. Which is why F1 teams probably have the logistics to run the world but governments won't allow it. By the way I heard car came from chariot and there are sophisticated tempers attached to racing, as in the words of Senna, is life and in essence truly religious to humans. Shot up and drive.
“The Ferrari is a dream - people dream of owning this special vehicle and for most people it remain a dream apart from for those lucky few” Enzo Ferrari
Enzo Ferrari didn't send young men to race or die. He offered a seat in one of his cars to a team of energetic, capable drivers who wanted to drive Ferrari. The sad fact is, racing at the speeds of an F1 or any other competion car of any make is dangerous and some of those drivers will die. It is as it is. The driver wants to win and we, the public, want to see them race.
The pursuit of passion is a double-edged sword at best because as much as you drive it, it drives you. It consumes you and forces you willingly to live your life in its shadow. It is, and will always be, your ultimate mistress.
I have nothing bad to say about Enzo Ferrari. This was a great documentary. I would love to see another one focusing on just the cars. I proudly wear my Ferrari cap!!! Sal : )
As a kid we joked FIAT was an acronym for, "Fix It Again Tony." Foreign cars to the U.S. had a reputation for very poor reliability, expensive replacement parts, and astronomically expensive repair bills. Now foreign cars are common in most cosmopolitan, American cities.
No matter what you say, without Enzo Ferrari, the world of motor racing and sports cars would have been compromised. In true Italian fashion, he embodied passion, emotion and amazingly crafted motorcars that reached heights that made our lives as automotive enthusiasts richer. Viva Italia. Viva Enzo!
It’s a shame that Ferrari dealers have alienated so many US customers by their utter lack of service and obnoxious behavior. This just tarnishes Ferrari as a brand. Ferrari has been a disappointing F1 team for 15 years and that streak shows little sign of improving in the near future. Hoping they do something positive soon.
I love the show. I love the beetle. But the other motors ? Do you know Auther Daley ? The Cedric not to bad either. Check Roy And HG. They loved Cedric s
