Here's what happened. The Ferrari 812 Superfast has a DCT (Dual Clutch Transmission, and when you're at a complete stop and you take your foot off of the brake pedal or you're not fully pressing on it, the transmission will disengage 1st gear and roll like it's in neutral. It's kinda similar to slipping a clutch pedal in a car with a manual transmission. My guess is, the lady may have been fiddling with something in her purse or something of that nature and wasn't paying full attention to the amount of pressure she was applying to the brake pedal. I've done that myself... rolled backwards slightly and not realized it, but fortunately I've never hit anyone. It's kinda hard to notice when a car is at a very slow roll if you're not paying attention. I can totally understand her confusion on what happened, ESPECIALLY if the car was new to her. Like others have said... thankfully the incident was filmed because that COULD HAVE been a real nightmare for the young chaps in the Camry. Also, thank goodness there wasn't any serious damage if any at all.
E Bay had good 2K dashcams for $50 recently ! VAVA VD009 has front & rear facing cameras with good quality that I have used for the past 2 1/2 years. Even has a bump sensor to snap it back on.
i used to work in insurance and when you're a witness to something like this, please stand up and do the right thing and offer support. Insurance companies are so grateful for the assistance and it stops BS like this dead in its tracks.

Hit the Camry, thinking he hit her! She’s obviously older, and very possibly on some medications that slow her down quite a bit ( the way she was acting was wired as hell ). Doubt that. She was not in reverse. No reverse light. Here's what many don't know about the 812. The auto-hold function is a bit wonky and it can let go at times. And when it does, it actually let you roll so gently that if you are not paying attention, you can easily miss that the car is rolling. I have never hit anyone, but I have been surprised that the car had started to roll. She was in the wrong and she handled things very poorly, but I genuinely do suspect that she had not realized that her car had started to roll.

Not only do you need to hit the R button, you also need to have your foot on the brake, and the clutch won't engage until you press the throttle.

As a Ferrari owner and Ferrari club member, I can tell you that women is an absolute and total disgrace. She either knew what she did and is a total liar or doesn’t know how to drive that car as when you have it in auto drive, it will hold in 1st gear and you can take foot off brake but after a minute, it times out and auto shifts into neutral. Then it rolled back while she was probably looking at her phone and then it hit the other car. But the fact that she didn’t want to see the video convinced me she is a total liar and Realized she screwed up but saw 3 naive, very little life-experience boys with facial hair and figured she could fool you. You should have called police, they would have seen video and cited her for at-fault accident. You all have so much to learn. Take care children.

I had someone do this to me. I tried being nice and helping the guy out. Flat out denied hitting. Then when a letter from a attorney showed up at his house and to the insurance company. He retracted his statement real quick.
Ferrari is extremely strict to anyone and there is a reason why they always chooses buyers to buy their car, you and your friends are a hero and collected a video evidence of her acts of what she did to the Ferrari, if you send this video to ferrari ( especially nearby dealers ) and watched it. Theyll take away her Ferrari and put her on blacklist.
I have an 812. After its been stopped for a while with the engine running and in gear,neutral is engaged automatically. It does sound a chime when it’s happening but she obviously didn’t notice. It does this to save the auto clutch. I’ve had it happen to me and I’ve forgotten it’s in neutral, then revved the guts out of the motor when the lights changed ooops…
You are supposed to immediately call the cops, especially the second the driver in the wrong pretends they didn’t do it. Honestly always call the cops, so the wrongful driver doesn’t change their story later.
Police might check for alcohol, drug or medication use. That guy she reversed in to looks like that bump gave him a neck injury. Better call an ambulance too. Screw her.

It rolls back in first gear if you don’t engage the brake cause it doesn’t have a torque converter like a true automatic. Manuals and DCT cars are like this.

DCTs don't automatically move forward till you give it throttle so its going to roll back like a manual transmission car, because the clutch is fully disengaged
Glad you guys did stop and give the video! For future, since he was not the one at fault (Depending on state) be sure to tell people that they should not provide their information because she can go to the police station later and file a report saying he was at fault. He's young and she's older, the police would've also agreed that he was at fault. Especially since it is a rear-end collision 9 times out of 10 the insurance company will honor her and she could pull the claim through his insurance. Never give your information if you are not at fault and if you are unsure. Just call the police. Even for small accidents so that you can learn/know what to do next time.
Basically what happen is she has a dct “dual clutch transmission” and I believe a limited slip differential in her Ferrari 812, she didn’t keep her foot on the brake so the vehicle rolled back,my bmw m3 does the same thing when not on even roads, going uphill in bumper to bumper traffic can be a nightmare
The 812 does have an auto-hold function, but it can be a bit wonky. And sometimes when it lets go, if you are not paying attention, the roll starts so gently that it can be pretty much undetectable unless you look up. If you are doing something with the nav, radio or phone, you can easily miss it. I suspect that's what happened. At any rate, she handled it extremely poorly.
