The 580 is the second smallest model in the current Ferretti Yachts range but it still packs a stylish punch. The boat bucks the trend in this sector for towering topsides and sky-high superstructure in pursuit of ballooning internal volume.
As Jack Haines found out during this in-depth walkthrough tour and review filmed during the 2023 Düssedorf Boat Show (where the boat had its global debut), though the 580 doesn’t boast the interior space of some of its rivals, it’s a beautifully put together boat with a timeless elegance that few can match.
On board, there are two interior finish options (Classic and Contemporary) and the option to have two or three bathrooms. For a boat of this size, three bathrooms seem like overkill and this configuration robs the owner’s cabin of its best asset, the mezzanine bureau that overlooks the main part of the cabin. It’s a luxurious flourish in this sector that hits all the right notes.
The boat runs on traditional shafts with either twin 900hp or 1,000hp Volvo Penta D13s for a top speed of 32 knots.

Ferretti 580 is the direct competitor of the Absolute 60 Fly which has the advantage of being quieter at anchor and underway with its forward master cabin and solar hard top. Ferretti has better wood work and fabric yet it is expensive at 2,3 mln €.

If I won it in a competition I'd trade it in for a Princess but as always, great tour and the editing is superb. 👍❤️🇬🇧

Another good review , not totally sold on it though , has a few nice touches but overall think there are others that would take my money , maybe a year old F62 Princess

Nice boat but too many small things that could have improved it like a pocket door in the VIP,there also seems to be a lot of different floor levels.Nicely finished though but I agree the Absolute is better over all as is the Princess 55 or the Azimut 53

So many choices in this size segments. It will all boil down to many elements combined required from the owner. It seems many owners have different needs hence the many choices available. There is no perfect boat. We can however declare "best for" or best buy, or "best design" etc. for each model.

Interesting yacht. Thanks for the tour. I would rather go for another brand as the layout of Cranchi, Princess or especially Absolute is much better in my point if view. The Absolute 56 would be my fav compared to this yacht in terms of size and space. Happy Easter

Hi Jack. I THINK she is the only boat in the 50-60 ish market that is Class A compliant - that would explain extra non visible costs if true Are you aware if this is right mate ? Best

Yep, she's Class A (for 14 people).

Nice boat for some serious boating. A designer who understands how boats are actually used. No gimmicks, no flimsy electric moving couches, no deployable side deck extensions and extravagant features, so leaky side doors… And yes, no hard top. The bloody hard top generates so much drag constantly burning much more fuel. I truly appreciate the electrically deployed Bimini for the fly. Convenient deployment when you need it, and then it hides away when you don’t. And you basically need it at anchor, during the day…
@lotuseletre8724
@lotuseletre8724 Год назад
It depends regarding the hardtop. For users who just slow cruise and are in either harsh environments sun/rain. The hard top makes more sense. It looks better too.
@buoyohbuoy790
@buoyohbuoy790 Год назад
@@lotuseletre8724 It is more of an engineering problem than anything else. For super or mega yachts, the hardtop makes sense, for many reasons. They usually sail at displacements speeds of 9-12 Kn, so the angle of attack doesn’t change nor aerodynamics do. Also proportionately it adds much less height to the boat compared to the smaller vessels. For smaller planning yachts, under 70 ft, that sail at around 20 Kn or above, with high angles of attack, you have to optimize drag for a certain speed… And again proportionately the hardtop adds a about 2 extra meters of height (above the typical 3-4 meters above the waterline), which is never good. With regard to the looks, those hardtops look “unnatural” and “funny”. The marketing concept is for the owner to feel good, by having a feature common to much larger yachts, at a premium usually close to 5-6% of the initial price of the boat… Practically, sailing at lower speeds, a traditional bimini can do exactly the same job and adequately protect you from the Mediterranean sun, if you insist to run the boat from the flybridge… But very few people do. I personally prefer my air conditioned lower helm, and only use the flybridge helm when I need visibility, and need to feel the elements (close quarter maneuvering and anchoring)… The hard top may be an appealing concept, but in my view, for under 70 ft boats it doesn’t make any sense whatsoever.
@lotuseletre8724
@lotuseletre8724 Год назад
@@buoyohbuoy790 you make a good point about boats less than 70ft and high angle of attack that effects the drag even more comp to larger yachts. However I was trying to make a point why some owner would choose the hardtop instead and would usually cruise at 9knots more oftenly than 20knots. Off course you have your own preference.

No tender space on a 58ft ? Also not having a side door at the helm is a negative .. I still think that Absolute and Galeon stand out in this range as they offer a lot more for the money , and a small request Jack please stop putting the layout on the screen while showing the boat as it distracts the viewing .. Thanks for the video ..
@Yachtbuyer
@Yachtbuyer Год назад
The tender would be carried on the hydraulic bathing platform and launch/recovered using that.

Don't like it at all. Love British, Scandinavian boats, but Italian leaves me cold. Always. Don't know why. Seemed a bit rushed too, like they didn't give you enough time. But otherwise, yay Yachtbuyer!
