Bueller? Bueller? Josh gathers the cast of Ferris Bueller--as well as some VERY special surprise guests--to pay tribute to one of the most iconic films of the 80's and the man who created it. Be here at 9am PT/12pm ET on June 28th, because you know, life moves pretty fast.... and you are not going to want to miss this!
Directed by James Merryman
Produced by Meghan Monaco
Executive Produced by Taylor Stuewe
Edited by Will Newell & Alex Stuewe
FEATURING:
Matthew Broderick
Alan Ruck
Mia Sara
Jennifer Grey
....and many more!
Thank you to our episode partner Barefoot Wine. Barefoot believes in bringing communities together, so they are sponsoring this episode of Reunited Apart and will be kicking off our fundraising efforts this week with a $25,000 donation. And thank you to all of you who are able to add on to this donation this week as well. For this episode, we’re fundraising for CORE. CORE provides financial relief when a food and beverage employee with children faces a health crisis, death or natural disaster. I still remember being the only kid left in the theatre at the end if the credits in the aisle when Ferris tells me why are you still here. I tried to calling my brother to come back in the theatre but he missed. My greatest movie theater memory of all time. From that day on I always stay till the end and the lights come on. It didn't payoff much in the 90s but since Marvel success the Bueller tradition has paid out.

Haha! Me too, because you never know if they're gonna throw in an easter egg at the end! Is it an easter egg if it's the end of a movie? I know there's a name for that but I don't know what it is. A button? A Coda?

_"[John] treated kids with respect, he treated 'em like complete human beings. Nowadays so many teen movies, they're objects of derision or it's all sex jokes or whatever, but he treated kids like they have problems, they have worries, and he honored all of that."_ When you watch these movies as a teenager, this is exactly the tone they radiate. You feel like you matter, that your problems still matter even if you're not an adult. As Grey said, it felt like John Hughes was validating your point-of-view and experience as a teenager. We need more movies like that in today's world. *RIP John Hughes*

Not in the original movie not in the one that they play on usual TV shows or cable networks. Why doesn’t anyone make movies like this anymore?! Today’s movies are all about crazy violence and profanity, or extreme action scenes that go on for way too long. There’s such an opportunity for someone who has vision similar to John Hughes to come along and fill in the void. The world really needs this NOW, more than ever.

I agree but the trouble is its getting harder to come up with an original story as the years go by and there are thousands (just Hollywood let alone the rest of the world) of past stories/scripts that have been turned into movies that your movie is going to get compared to. This was such a fun movie.

They'll have to spend the whole episode apologizing for Long Duk Dong and telling everyone that racial stereotypes are NEVER funny and how Things Were Different Back Then. Never mind that Dong is meant to be a subversion of the shy, repressed Asian/foreign exchange student stereotype, and the big joke of his character is that as uncool as he is, he ends up having an exponentially better time than Sam does.
