This is such an iconic scene, anyone who were to disagree doesn’t know what freedom feels like

This scene makes me very happy. Why? Because no matter the religion, race, age, everyone was singing and dancing to a great song TOGETHER without any drama. Just a good time. Damn i wish we could all get along like this in real life ! We are not on this earth that long to be fighting.

Fun fact. This scene was choreographed and directed by Kenny Ortega. After this he went onto direct Dirty Dancing and High School Musical.

one funny thing about Twist and Shout is that when they recorded it, John was with a cold, making his voice rough, and they were recording the entire album in a day, so they were afraid that he would loose his voice

Another fun fact: A call went out from radio DJs asking for extras in a John Hughes' movie shooting downtown. Ten thousand people showed up! Plus, Hughes put the float in the middle of an actual parade. It came out great! Twist and Shout demands that you simply got to move, it's so in the groove!

Song was back on the chart in 86 thanks to this great movie.

I love the scene. It's so much fun to watch. "Twist and Shout" by the Beatles was the perfect song choice, and I loved that they incorporated Michael Jackson's "Thriller" and The Jacksons' "Shake Your Body" choreographies into the scene. The fact they merged the biggest musical acts' influences in pop culture together in this iconic movie speaks volumes about its own popularity. John Hughes and Kenny Ortega knew exactly what they were doing.

I've watched this clip many, many times, and tonight I just realized that there, on the float behind Ferris, is a lady rocking out on the accordion. It's the details that count.

Why can't it always be like this...? Whites, Blacks, Indians, Jews, Muslims, Nordics, Asians, united by music, dancing in peace, laughing, hugging each other, without hate, without wars. this iconic scene goes far beyond good filmmaking. I've always loved the diversity of this scene. Black, white, Asian, Jew ... then you have German dancers with Ferris, an American who's lip-synching to a British band that covered an American group.

1:46 Along with friend of mine we loved the way she moved her hips. He even made a gif out this clip for my birthday. We lost him to suicide couple of years ago, like many of the medical doctors. Rest in peace brother.

Greattttt I work at a residential home for the elderly and when we put this song on there all up dancing some with help and some without but everyone has a dance also the twist song from the blues brothers just cos there elderly don't mean they can't have fun and by golly we make sure there do

Music brings the people together. Not politics-not religion.

Just now I was watching a reaction video to first hearing the Beatles Twist and Shout on Ed Sullivan in 1964 and I was 8 then and lived day after day with Beatles as part of every single day of my childhood and early teen years. And this movie came out 22 years later and brought to life the absolute infectious happiness that was in the air as part of every single day of Beatlemania. I wish beyond anything that we could have some of that back once again. It was electrifying, and unifying. Life is good at 67 and continues to be good but there was literally nothing like the feel of that goodwill among neighbors and across the world when we had the Beatles to light that fire. I am grateful beyond description to have had that.
