Exactly, and it’s even more crazy because something like this wouldn’t even be real, they would just use green screen or cgi. If there’s one thing that brings people together it’s music, and it sucks that movies don’t film out around the same way they used to.

one funny thing about Twist and Shout is that when they recorded it, John was with a cold, making his voice rough, and they were recording the entire album in a day, so they were afraid that he would loose his voice
@someguyontheinternet2544
@someguyontheinternet2544 2 года назад
Ooooh so that’s why he had such a different voice in this song!
@Trevornator
@Trevornator 2 года назад
That is partially true. What really happened was John didn't have a cold. But since they were recording the whole album in one day, he was starting to lose his voice. So they made sure they saved Twist and Shout for last, because they all knew he will give all he has to make the song good and won't have a voice left to do other songs. So he did Twist and Shout last. They did two takes, but the first take was the best, so they went with that one!

Another fun fact: A call went out from radio DJs asking for extras in a John Hughes' movie shooting downtown. Ten thousand people showed up! Plus, Hughes put the float in the middle of an actual parade. It came out great! Twist and Shout demands that you simply got to move, it's so in the groove!

Weird to think that John Lennon had been murdered just like six years earlier. Plus, I think the John Lennon documentary "Imagine" came out in 1986 too. I was too young to know any of this at the time, but I remember thinking this was the hardest rocking song I had ever heard!
@christopherferrarelli2262

Twist & Shout had quite the resurgence in 1986; with The Beatles’ cover of the song used here in Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Rodney Dangerfield’s performance of the song in Back To School. Interesting fact: MTV, wanting to capitalize on the song’s success, tried to find a music video of Twist & Shout to play on the channel. They found it based on footage from The Beatles cartoon series of the 1960’s. The video was so popular, that MTV aired on weekends episodes of The Beatles cartoon show.

Appreciate this, because the slice of Americana you see in this movie is gone forever. The beauty of this scene is that it is an affirmation that we really all can get along. The best music brings us together.

This is what America and the rest of the World needs right now! A day off, to have fun, and dance in the Streets! No matter what Color, Creed, Ethnicity, Religion, Sexual Orientation, or what have you! Just put our differences aside, have fun, and enjoy Great Music!

The person who choreographed this sequence would go on to direct Hocus Pocus, and the High School Musical and Descendants trilogies.

If this was my kid I wouldn’t even care that he skipped school. I’d be a lot madder if he skipped to play video games or something

Just now I was watching a reaction video to first hearing the Beatles Twist and Shout on Ed Sullivan in 1964 and I was 8 then and lived day after day with Beatles as part of every single day of my childhood and early teen years. And this movie came out 22 years later and brought to life the absolute infectious happiness that was in the air as part of every single day of Beatlemania. I wish beyond anything that we could have some of that back once again. It was electrifying, and unifying. Life is good at 67 and continues to be good but there was literally nothing like the feel of that goodwill among neighbors and across the world when we had the Beatles to light that fire. I am grateful beyond description to have had that.

No cellphones = you could let your hair down and goof off with no worries of your privacy being invaded or being bullied later. I wish kids today had that...

Me too. I think kids today will never have the same kind of fun that they did back then. Technology’s kind of ruined that for everyone now. Sad.
