I use maia (banana) stalks for fertilizer apply direct to planted kalo as mulch no till in. If you live near the ocean, then I use limu opala (seaweed), our kupuna(elders) planted kupukupu ferns alongside side kalo other planted crops. The ferns were burnt in place, and then ashes were used to enrich and oxidate the soil. That's how fertilize. I hope this helps you.
We get ours in bulk, but you can get at homedepot or amazon or other local place. It is the same process. We add it around the plant and then cover with mud. That seems to work best for us because of our water system and all the animals we have, especially the ducks!
You can get bone meal at like home depot or even amazon. We happen to order in bulk from a supply center because we are a farm, but our crew who grow at home get at the hardware store or amazon.
