She plays with RIE aka Suzaku presently (she's been her drummer for several years now). Sometimes I think Japan by itself has more talented female drummers than the whole rest of the world!

This event was about 11 weeks after I saw her perform at Metal Matsuri in London, where she was support for Rie a.k.a Suzaku. A lovely young lady with a very promising career ahead of her.👏

Have been following(and loving) Kanade for years now! And she plays lots of Jazz....because she is GOOD at it. She eats different time signatures for breakfast....and lunch! And, her tiara is killer. Love you Kanade!!❤❤

Thanks for reacting to my suggestion, yes I love her dynamic too, hitting drum soft and hard. At age 11 she won "Hit Like A Girl 2014" drumming contest., she mainly doing jazz but she regularly jamming with other musician from other genre too.

People forget she is a TV star too. She's been on the TV show Musica Piccolino for many years.

I think Kanade plays a lot of Jazz because it gives her that freedom that a lot of other styles would not give her. But she does do metal as well like a few other Japanese artists do, I saw her play with RIE aka Suzaku in London at Metal Matsuri when she was 16. Here she is Rie a.k.a. Hi Brandon! Thanks for reviewing Kanade Sato. Everybody paid attention to her when she was 12. But, She's really a fine wine; better with age. Amazing precision covering Dave Weckl's "Festival De Ritmo"! Look at Japan! Kanade, Senri, Yoyoka, Marina, Rina, Tamu, Hana, Yuri, and Junna, what's the rest of the World doing?

Thank you, Russ, you forgot one Tarn Softwhip, and we do have Nandi Bushell, from the UK, but where are the males there is one young lad in the UK, Caleb Hayes, and I can think of a few more that I have reacted to but they are all asian females.

And, there's also Paulina Villareal from Mexico, Sina Doering from Germany, and others scattered across Europe and Asia, but it seems that the largest concentration in female super-drummers is in Japan right now. And, the fact is, I wouldn't know about most of them, if I wasn't watching your podcasts! So keep doing what you're doing, Brandon! Hang in there! Russ

@@OldMrB Japan keeps on producing female drummers. Another one to watch out for is Kii (age 9) who won the Hit Like a Girl competition this year in the same category that Kanade won. In fact, Kanade was one of the judges. For Japanese male drummers, check out both Michikana Murai (age 8) who plays in the band RoiLoiRo and Toji Fujino who plays in the band Snack Time from Sapporo. He and one of his bandmatee just won a 5 week scholarship next year at Berkelee.

Whereas Senri's perpetual smile is tiring and Junna's mania is wearying, YOYOKA'S intensity (sometimes offset by authentic joy or goofiness) and Kanade's simplcity of expression (with trademark tiara) are much preferred for watching.
