I love my Kapex. I have put in new floors in my house, new floor joist , walls etc… I love this thing and the wings have saved me for when I alone so… my friend we are cloned on the same tools! Great vids keep them coming.
My setup is going strong. I too still use my Dewalt cordless Flexvolt 12" slider on jobs where there is no power, as I am completely cordless for everything now, no more cords when needed!! However, I setup my Kapex stand and saw with wings when doing full kitchen and trim installs where I can be inside due to not worrying about dust in a finished home. What a gamechanger, especially not having to keep walking outside to make cuts as to keep any dust from migrating around the customers home. Every tool I own in a cutting capacity, is attached to the CT36 at all times. The only thing I am engineering is a way to make those Festool wings a little wider utilizing the crown stops, but not quite there yet. I know my plan will work, just need a little more R&D to make it work. Then I will be 100% loving the Kapex setup, at about 95% right now! Love all your content, I enjoy seeing how others run their sites to try and see improvements I can make, keep up the great videos!!
Thank you for watching! Sounds like some interesting ideas. That’s one thing Festool folks are really good at, making good tools even better. Hopefully you can get there with that idea!
I've had a Kapex for about 5 years, absolutely love it. It is hooked up to the CT-36 power port, no problems with power. I got a Betterley zero clearance insert, it's nice. Good video, thanks !
Had my kapex 6 months and loving it. Came from the 12 flexvolt and this baby is way in front on being more accurate better features and a joy to use. Great review thanks.
The dust extraction is the best around - I love mine . I have the 12 dewalt which is a good saw but dewalt don’t seam to care about dust extraction as the mess is unreal. Portability is brilliant on the kapex and I’d recommend it .
I also have a kapex 120 and i like it so much, only downside with the stand/wings is when you setting it up outside in uneven terrain but when you are on a solid floor it is superb.
I could see it taking some fiddling to do that for sure. As an indoor use saw it’s awesome. My Dewalt in the trailer can handle the outdoor builds. I like that I have it permanently installed in the trailer benches
Blaklader X1600 usually. I do wear their thinner version as well a lot more in the summer. Similar styling and pockets just without the pull out tool bags. I really like them
I had a flirtation with Festool , what killed it for me , as a mainly cordless user , spare batteries and chargers are not readily available over the counter . At one time I was running both Hilti and Metabo cordless stuff , I had a battery and charger stolen . In Canada where I hail from , replacements aren’t quickly available . Ditto , Festool ! This why I’m on the Milwaukee platform .
Great video. I’ve been wanting this saw forever and was about to buy, but seems to be a very long back order now most like due to the pandemic. Btw the other saw with front rails is Makita.
I just got the makita 18 volt 6 1/2 miter saw, weight 14.6 pounds and small, getting tired of hauling big saws all over, most trim I do is small, if I have bigger jobs the big saws come out. Cuts accurate but I haven't used it on a job yet
Had this a saw since it hit the states. For sure do not plug into the vac, vac cannot handle amp draw. Plug into the wall and use bluetooth to start vac. Been using power miter boxes since '79, this is by far the best saw I have used for trim...
That is a great idea. I put the Bluetooth system on my CT36AC which I’ll be primarily using with this saw so that would work just fine. I should get the new midi but my old one is still great so that ones a bit hard of an upgrade to justify yet 😅
Nice and capable saw, no,doubt, but for that, proce, it should have good features, and should sweep itself off after use, Ha Ha! 😂. As for the handle, it is a personal preference thing, but this style doesn’t contribute to uneven motion when sliding through a cut, which tends to be a more accurate cutting experience. I doubt I will ever own one, but enjoy yours! Like these type of videos as they help the community out. Nothing beats first hand knowledge and experience with the usage of tools, on the job! 👍👍👍👍👍👍😁✌🏻🙏🇺🇸
I used to like my kapex until it took a dump on me. The motor went out on it granted it was 12 years old but I have an old Rockwell chop saw that’s 50 years old and has seen hard use and it’s still cutting like new. From what I’ve been reading people are having problems with the motors on the kapex and I hear fesstool customer service is not very good. So I guess I have a new boat anchor
Great vid! Versus the DeWalt, this handle is more like a circular saw, so probably really short learning curve. Does it have slow start? Love my DeWalt but really wish it didn't kick so much...
I am on the market for a good mitre saw since I went trough alot of saws and always get disappointed even after tweeking and squaring the saws , two first candidates were the kapex and dewalt dws780 or 790 flexvolt in my mind, after going back and forth and weighing the pros and cons I think I will settle with the dewalt flexvolt, I really like festool products and own many of them in my arsenal still couldn't justify the cost of 2400$ Canadian pessos, it simply doesn't offer much versatility over the other mitre saws exempt dust collection and the front rail function, for 830$ I can have a 12" mitre saw including the stand which festool charges additional 1500$ for it , I am professional carpenter and know the kapex has more ridgid construction and well thought design, but in the real world for me the dewalt either the 780 or flexvolt they are winners in this case
Great video. I have a question about moving the table to different settings - say 27% as an example. I just bought the latest Kapex 120 and find that moving the table seems a bit stiff to me - I get the feeling that something is rubbing on the scale as I move it. Has anyone else experienced this. Thanks, Dave
