As someone who recently picked up a track saw, and then began my information devour period, finding this video was a godsent. If this type of video was made for all major tools and techniques i legitimately would pay for it given the time saved listening to others who either are nowhere near as informed as this gentlemen appears to be using it, or they leave out a bunch of information that leaves me with more questions. Cant thank you enough. -Steve

Hey Serge = Don't be worried about saying "AH-BAH". That's exactly how we say it in Australia (you can add Australia to your watch list - just not live, as it's 2am here at 12pm showtime!). I absolutely love my TSC-55 and have gotten so much value out of your sessions! Thanks guys.

Sedge... you are amazing. But we first time Festool newbies, are perhaps not professional woodworkers and definitely not as good and fast like you. We just wanted to buy the best... and are trying to learn our new tool. Sedge... I watch and learn regularly and have bought a lot of Festool tools.... Just slow a bit down.. for us and for your heart ! :-) Thank you from Canada

dude i love mine, cutting some aluminum today ! purchased a 72 oshlun blade off amazon. Its dead on the track, I ran the 72 free hand on some plywood to take off some blade coating before putting on track. I think its gonna be great, its a non ferrous blade , but was cutting scraps of pre finished with no tear out at all. blows the 36 tooth out the water

I’ve used all the connection techniques for 2 rails and yet to get the perfectly straight cut , always off over a 2.4 metre sheet cut. If you want close to a straight cut, the only way is a complete rail , and even then it’s hard to avoid lateral flex on hard material . It’s not as good and accurate as they make out but it’s still the best on the market .

I own a TS 75 that comes with a 36T blade, but I'm going to start ripping quite a bit of plywood, do you recommend that I switch to a 18T blade, or will the 36T handle no problem? And yes I know the TS 75 is overkill for plywood, but I use it for thicker stock, that the TS 55 could not handle.

I ordered festools laminate blade for my TS75 . I have to cut 1/2” acrylic for a friends staircase . Are there any tips I should be aware of, like should I slow the motor speed down ? I’m concerned about when the saw exists the acrylic with potential chip out . I guess I could clamp some sacrificial mdf for additional chip out protection

Great tip using the saw it’s self to align the rails. I would avoid the Festool joining bars because the set screws drive into the surface of the track, making a dimple, and those screws will always find their way back and could keep you from aligning the tracks at all. Makita has a much better system with double bars, the set screws expand the parts inside the slots expanding with even pressure, and works with Festool tracks. I just saw new joining hardware from TSO that looks even better, it’s like the makita hardware in that it doesn’t drive screws into track, but it also has a unique profile that automatically aligns the tracks as you tighten... TSO GRC-12 self aligning guide rail connectors. Maybe Festool will license these rail connectors, because they were/are selling a Festool branded version of the [Excellent] TSO GRS-16 Guide rail square, Festool call it the FS-WA/90, item #205229, and it carries the TSO logo on the clamp. Again I'm not sure of the status of this version, it's shows out of stock on the Axminster UK website and is listed on the Festool Global site, [Festool.com] but not on [Festoolusa.com] or any of the local Festool dealers that I checked.

Given the need to keep both the saw's cam adjusters engaged with the track, and your advice to plunge fully before starting the cut, what is the thinking behind Festool's decision to make a standard rail at 55" length? Seems like 60" would be more practical for crosscutting N. American sheet goods.

I wanted to catch this live but didn't get a notice. I bought a 75 and then a 55. I think the black edges stayed on the best. At least for me the clear plastic curls near the ends. I have even used acetone to get every bit of old adhesive off. I keep my rails separated for the 2 saws. What I really wanted to ask about was adjusting 1 saw to match the other so I can use what ever rail I want. I hear I of the saws has more adjustment than the other. How easy is it to mess something up?
@S7tronic
@S7tronic 4 года назад
There is a section in the TS 55 supplemental manual on the website, go to page 22, 'Matching Multiple Saws to Shared Guide Rails'. service.festoolusa.com/service/manuals/
@WelshRabbit
@WelshRabbit 3 года назад
@@S7tronic Thanks! I had not been aware of the TS Supplemental Manual before you mentioned it. Owning several Festool saws (TS 75, TS 55 and a TSC 55), I found it quite annoying that they didn't cut exactly in the same location on the track. I thought that was just a Festool manufacturing quirk, and I assumed the only way to maintain precision in my cuts was just to waste money to buy dedicated individual tracks for each saw. I owe you a big-time vote of thanks. That advice of yours was equivalent to a 3-star rating in the Michelin Red Guide.

You tightened one connector but not the one on the bottom. I saw the gap between rails change as you were moving it around because the second connector was loose. You'd have to flip the rail with the saw on it to tighten the other connector.
