FETCHIN' A '79 BIG 10 SQUAREBODY C10 | a forgotten junkyard tour 

Man this brings back memories!!! My Grandpa had one of these when I was growing up. When I got 13 years old he would let me drive while he drank beer lol. Just slow cruisin' down old Tennessee back roads. Life was good back then

A buddy of mine had a 79 big 10 and it was his daily driver, we used it on the farm and his landscape business we even hauled a load of elephant's manure with it, good truck.

I had a 76 that looked almost identical to this one. 350 two barrel, 342 12 bolt rear end. Loved that truck. It ended up donating that rear end to a sweet 81 I had. Dude that dash pad though! 😀

That’s a good looking sturdy pick up John got himself. Yeah that’s one of those you leave all factory and just dial in all the creature comforts to make it really enjoyable. Thang is a time capsule. You can’t beat the smooth steering of an all original square body.

Love the truck John . Not long after I got out of high school a construction company I worked for had a bunch of these on the job site . I worked as an expediter (aka gopher), the one that drove was dark green with a light green inset. Loved that truck. The superintendent said I was going to wash the paint off if I kept it any cleaner. Then I had to start cleaning his every Friday as well. LOL

I daily drove a 77 that had original paint cardinal red but mine was a little more red than that truck, although a lot of people would say it’s orange and get confused because I have another 81 that was cardinal red but poorly repainted orange. So basically for a while I had to call one stripes so people knew which one I meant haha love the big 10!

nice truck, im the proud 2nd owner of a 1973 Cheyenne super 10 350/350 posi myself, just roled her over to 57000 miles last month.. had it for 4 years now, baught it with 51000 miles, still drives like new, never been apart..

You live in a great part of the country. I'm from New England and because of salt and snow here in the winter you just can't find square body trucks like Creampuff that are not all rusted out beyond repair. I had a 78 Big 10 myself I bought back in the early 80's and I loved that truck and after 10 years and 2 engines it was time to let her go. I called her Ole Bertha because she was not very pretty but she would never quit until rust got the better of her.

I have a 64 chevy 1ton flat bed .almost lost it in sonoma California in the big fire in oct 2017.but it servived . that is one cherry Bonanza .sitting in place with oak trees for shade an a tarp to keep it out of the weather .thanks again for the video's.

I drove it all through high school, had a gun rack in the back window with my 22 and a 370 wing master.. in the school parking lot, can't do that now. Kentucky class of 84

Love them trucks used to have a black and silver Silverado I loved it it was a 79 drove it 1200 miles and loaded it up like the Beverly hillbillies comming back another 1200 miles the front wheels were hardly touching the ground 350 4 barrel lots of power loved that truck it ended up rusting out bad here in Canada the salt killed it

Those are both sweet trucks, I recently got a brand new rebuilt 4 bolt 350 for my 72 she's loaded with options much like your 67, it's a Cheyenne 10 was originally ochre which I really love, sweet trucks. Awesome video!!

That’s a beautiful truck. I only wish I could buy just a cab exactly like that. That old ford he had looked like the frame done rusted through but swap the chassis out for a late model ranger or something and have a smooth ride and a good looking truck!!!!

My first truck was a 73 Cheyenne 3/4 ton with a f 454 and 4 speed. Bought it new. It had buckets and a console. That became a problem when I had my first child. My dad and I built a fifth wheel In 74 and I pulled it out to Yellowstone. Going up 80 to Laramie I couldn't get out of 3rd. Later talked to a guy with a ford pulling a fifth and he said he couldn't get out of 2nd. Today I drive a DURAMAX pulling a fifth and sometimes another trailer behind it. Pulled it over the Rockies with no problems even though mine is an LLY that had heating issues.

My grandpa had a 78 Chevy big 10 with all the options. He sold it before he bought his 1992 silverado he still has it.

so cool.... I own my late father's 64 Ford Galaxie 500 with the 390 4bbl carb. They had different horsepower ratings depending on the cam and if it was a police package HO. Most had 300 horse but over 400 ft/lbs of torque!

The Big 10 was Chevy's version of the F-150. Like the Chevy Big 10, the Ford F-150 was also a new optional heavy duty half ton pickup back in those days until the base F-100 pickup was dropped in 1984.

1979 was the only year for the headlamp bezels & grille with those designs together. 1979 was also the first year for the gas filler doors.

Can you make a video talking about all the square bodies and the defected front part of the chassis right where the steering box is mounted. I've owned two sqbdy' s and both had that problem. Any solutions or suggestions would be helpful. Great video as always!

Weird that it had that "catalytic" info deal on the visor. If I'm not mistaken, "Big 10" models were not equipped with any emission related items beings that they weighed in at 6050 lbs. I mean, they weren't "required" to have any of that stuff. I guess they maybe could be ordered with that stuff if so desired maybe?

Awesome a fairly solid red and white 79 Chevy big 10 longbed!! Ironically I've always wanted to own a red and white 74-79 with nice paint and I had a solid carmine red and frost gloss white paint scheme 74 Chevy Cheyenne super 10 longbed but it's paint was shot, paint missing in several spots no existing clear coat left on it except the glovebox door... anyways I loved that truck, but I ended priming the cab red oxide except the passenger door and the front doghouse primer grey or it would have been nothing but rust...
