Blaze Away! is a 1901 march by the German-American composer Abe (Abraham) Holzmann. It was his greatest success.
Holzmann was inspired by the Battle of Manila Bay during the Spanish-American War, when a command to American sailors to open fire on the Spanish fleet was reputedly met with the response "Well boys, let's blaze away" by the gunners.

Amazing. One of the things I love about the old German army, is the interest they had in art, specially music and architecture. The Prussian army had and still has, the best military marches in the world. They weren't just warriors, they we're warriors with style and a tendency towards the artistic field. :)

Good morning Dr.Ludwig! Beautiful march. Back from my Normandy and Champagne/ Marne trip, I see your posts again. However, I think I'll travel again. It was fabulous, both in terms of nature and in terms of heritage and history, I'm still under the impressions left by the beautiful and interesting places I've visited. I'll come back with comments in the following videos, on vacation I don't get up soon 😅 (not before 7 a.m., as usual, with some exceptions). I wish you a beautiful Wednesday 😊❤🎼🎵🎶👋👋👋

@@dr.ludwig Hello Dr.Ludwig, yes, I saw the latest videos, but I didn't comment, I just put Likes. I'll look them back. The internet was not as fabulous as the stay in Normandy, I had to take care. You should go visit. I told the PLW website how it was, I'll show you, I told them a few months ago that I was going on vacation to Normandy, it was planned, but with the pandemic I had to postpone it. Quite tiring, I still feel it, but so beautiful. I saw a lot of Germans there. Unfortunately, I couldn't see the German military cemetery, or any others, other than the American cemetery. We should have stayed much longer, a week is nothing for Normandy. I wish you a very nice Thursday 😊❤👋
