Pliers are one of the most used tools in a workshop. However, this ordinary tool has many features that most people do not know. In this video, the hidden features and numbers of the pliers, which is a tool that everyone uses,
I have used the reverse pliers method in removing and tightening handing plastic in-line water filters. I like the wire stripper usage... more often then not I seem to cut the copper when trying to strip it.
heard that youtube won't monetize vids if they are below 10mins (because only thing yt hates more than creators is your time) so you can appreciate it by sending him your money.
or just use a deep well socket if there is that much of the bolt showing. i dunno, something about needing 3 different thing to do a job that a single tool can do just seems like a waste... but yeah if you have a clamp, a screwdriver (or nut driver handy to really tighten it) and pliers and no sockets, i guess that will work.

Subscribed. Second video I’ve seen. 1st was about applying silicone sealer. Love the no nonsense approach. Wag of the finger for no, thumbs up for yes. Wish more people would do this on RU-vid. 👍
I knew about the insulation strippers and scraper trick. However the hose clamp and soft grip with hot glue were new to me. Who would have thought you could use the handles like that.
@@mattl9070 And yet, the only thing I can find that has a remote chance of fitting on the thing I want to undo! The next day I'll find the right sized spanner or wrench, but not when I need it!!! 🤔
re: glue glasses back together This is not about repairing the glasses, pre se. It is about creating a 'soft jaw' on the plier so it will not mar or slip off the glasses. Or that was my take. Loving the makeshift clamp idea with rubber bands
Great ideas! I sometimes put pieces of silicon tubing (normally used as rc airplane fuel tube) over the jaws of alligator clips to make "soft jaws" to hold things without marking them.
Just note: Pull insulators of linemen plyers and install heat shrink. You no longer have a high kV insulation protection. Also gripping will not be anywhere as good.
It should be obvious but thanks for pointing it out. The old insulation was badly damaged in the footage as we have seen. Is it possible to get a replacement or is it cheaper to buy new pliers?
@Robert W Sieburg Those pliers didn’t offer any protection in the first place. Only plain old acetate handles. The Pliers need to be VDE certified to offer electrical protection. Never work on a live circuit with pliers (or screwdrivers) that are not VDE certified (1000 Volts)
If you already have the right tools or a strong enough grip you don't need to do half of this stuff. Also a bit of WD-49 on the rusted nut and bolt first and letting it sink for a few minutes before hand you wouldn't need that adjustable metal band on the handle.
The point of the glasses wasn't to be glasses, but a surface that was soft and could scratch easily. The glue created a barrier between the metal of the pliers and the glasses, preventing wear.
Some brilliant ways to use pliers i have never seen before. The one that i have is the last one, pulling a nail using a scraper to steady the pliers. Unfortunately in my case the scraper split in the blade with the loose part flying past my head! never again will i try that one.
@@johnnycardwell3110 I know i used to do it myself, as i said. I stopped when the scraper broke and the blade flew across the room. Nowadays i use a bit of scrap wood.
If you need to use pliers to loosen a nut off of a bolt, you should consider getting some CRC 5.56 and spraying that on it, after it soaks in, the nut should be a lot easier to loosen! Some people tend to confuse this with WD-40 but that is a degreaser. Might help if the nut only needs dried up grease or oil removed from it.
It's so simple that I feel incredibly stupid for never once thinking: "What if I just hold the nail with pliers? Then I can hammer harder without worrying about smashing my fingers."
We all do prefer the simpliest ways usually instead of pondering too much, especially when the purpose itself is far more important than anything else.
21 й век , а гайки откручивает плоскогубцами. Мастер, не пробовали использовать специальный инструмент? Или вы на необитаемом острове только в двоем, с плоскогубцами?
I agree. Some excellent ideas. But putting something, not sure what, on your pliers will surely ruin the pliers. If it was protection heat shrink would work and could be easily removed after. Don't see the glasses trick at all.
Yep, imagine a carpenter trying to build a house and holding every nail with a pair of needle nosed pliers. 😂 But a couple of these could come in handy in a pinch. His soldering rig was neat.
Don't do what this guy is doing.. Use the right tool for the job.. Place the part in a vice to solder it, not pliers with rubber bands. Use a spanner to loosen nuts, not pliers. Do not remove the insulated hand grips from your pliers. And use a claw hammer to pull out nails... This guy is no tradesman.
You should be using the Right Tool for the job! This video shows how to misuse & damage tools & how to get hurt. There's a reason why people shouldn't use a crescent wrench as a hammer.
