I just used it to cut a few pieces of plywood boards ru-vid.comUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS works great. The blade that came with it isn't very good and I bought a much better bosch one which made much cleaner cuts. Blades were cheap, a few bucks.

I have the exact same jigsaw, just pulled it back out today after a long while in storage so will play with some if your tips. Top man.

I knew, and have been using every one of these techniques for over 55 years. Great video. There are so many things that common tools are capable of, if people would just take the time to look for them.

You can make tight turn cuts with the right blade. Use a fine tooth blade and an insert to avoid or minimise tearout, blade. Get yourself an up-to-date jigsaw.

Не одного правильного совета нет. Полотно можно было не переворачивать а просверлить отверстие и резать нормально. А что бы не рвало дерево когда отрезаешь это надо соответствующее полотно ставить а не выпучив глаза каким попало драть эту доску так же и у самого лобзика не у каждого но есть настройки хода полотна которыми так же подбирается что бы не рвало дерево.

The plastic on the bottom was a neat idea🙂 Also if you score your cut line with a razor before the cut it helps keep the surface particles from tearing as well🙂

I like cheap solutions but I also like tools. I already had a BEAST of a jigsaw and a small one for more delicate jobs. I did the backward blade and found I prefer seeing what im doing so bought a used Skil Auto Scroll. Offers hand controlled scroll saw turning of the blade AND adjustable reciprocation of the blade as well as speed control. Got it used for 15 bucks and uts been my go-to for 12 years.

the plastic added to the jigsaw's foot is an excellent idea. I'll be using idea that on my next laminate flooring job!

Most jigsaw ,except the very cheapest, have a lever on the side of the metal head where the sawing mechanism is housed. This lever is adjustable through 90 degrees and controls the pendulum action of the blade from a very hard ripping motion to a pure vertical movement, thus minimising the splinters if used on the vertical setting. You can also use a metal cutting blade which has much smaller teeth or a wood cutting blade designed to cut on the downward stroke. Both of these types of blades are available from tool suppliers. As for the circle cutting. I like to use a hole saw to create the curved section and then cut the straight section with the jigsaw. One other point. These jigsaw blades are very flexible and you might find the blade has flexed on the outside edge underneath when cutting a largish curve, especially in hardwood and thick softwood. The trick here is to go very slowly round the curve or even stand off from the cutting line and come back to it in the opposite direction when you can see where the cut is going having removed the bulk of waste material.

What I like most about these videos is the simple instructions and the wagging finger. No music no superfluous talking. It’s a neat idea to convey simple instructions I’m surprised that others haven’t followed suit. Liked and subscribed 👍

If you have a festool jig saws and the right blades you can do tight turns. They also have blades where the teeth point down so there's no tear out on the top surface.

If you need to cut sharp corner cuts, buy blade which is made for those. Always use quality blades and correct blade for every materials. There is difference between the blades

5 tip with the plastic sheet. You are using different saw blades, first one for faster cutting with more agrresive teeth, that's why there's a lot of teardown. When you attach plastic sheet you change the blade for a hardwood one, which is for cleaner cuts. Comparison is not fair at all. Off course the result in the video looks more drastic then.

Jigsaws are one of those tools that I have a hard time doing anything really well with. Hope these tips help me out on that!

I really am totally impressed with the amount of latteral thinking this guy comes up with - I would *never* have crossed my mind to simply reverse the blade when blocked by a panel. That said, I'm not so sure how to steer the cut - but still, now I can get it close and file it down. And that plastic under the saw - Brilliant.

По-моему после проделывания отверстия лобзиком для выпиливания круга, придётся нести его в ремонт. Не надо пытаться сделать лобзиком всю работу, а то так можно дойти до забивания гвоздей или штробление стен.

I used to be a professional furniture fitter, scribing panels daily. I always preferred blades which cut on the down-stroke, always with the pendulum action turned off. Put masking tape on the face side, and marked out with a fine ballpoint pen. That gives a more accurate line than a pencil, which doesn't smudge or rub out. Also gives a clear line, regardless of colour of workpiece. Cut with the side edge if the blade running along the outside of the line. Clean accurate cuts with no tear-out, or marks on face of board.

Very informative. The plastic idea to prevent tearout is fantastic; I always had trouble with that.

One of the best tips for getting a good finish is a hollow ground blade. They also tend to do better at cornering as the have more clearance behind the teeth. Most jigsaws have a guide roller that supports the back of the blade. Keep that in mind if you decide to turn a blade around it might not be the best Idea. Also putting masking tape on the shoe can prevent scratches in a finished surface that you are cutting. Lots of tricks out there for every tool. I knew all of these already but I am sure many did not.

Not using the jigsaw on full speed, if u run it at a lower speed for certain things, you get a very smooth cut. (older jigsaws had a speed dial newer ones its how far you press the trigger) Most people using a jigsaw just press the trigger as far as it can go rushing through their cut and then get mad when its ruined. Sometimes slow and steady wins the race

#2 tells me you haven't purchased blades in a long time. You need a scroll cut blade which is anywhere from 1/2 to 1/3 the width of a regular wood blade, and you can make tight cuts with them.

nice informational video, I'll add a point of information as well, there are jigsaw blades that have teeth that cut in the opposite direction that helps when blade tear out could ruin a project....

Only one I didn't know about was the plastic shield, always used tape on the line but the shield would save time and tape. I'll try it out.

Alternative solution to the final 2 examples (tearing up the board) - apply and cut through masking tape (or blue painters tape) on the surface you want to cut to prevent splintering the wood.

As a shopfitting apprentice joiner (bench hand) in the 60s, one thing we did was make up plywood faced, hollow cored doors, some with a glazed panel. After the blank door was made (glued and pressed) the glazed opening was cut out using hand tools. We had a time & motion study being undertaken at the time (many joiners objected to this but it did lead to an increase in pay 🙂). I suggested buying in an electric jigsaw to sped this up. A few days later the foreman read my note, came out of his office and told me it was a stupid idea. Two weeks later a new, electric jig saw was brought out - of course it was his idea then - bastard!!

For safety, if you need to start in the middle, drill a hole. The other technique risks a blade shattering.

Glad my dad taught me all of these when I was a boy 40yrs ago. He wasnt a woodworker or carpenter. He was smarter than the average bear. Thanks dad. Miss you
