we will be the underdog, we will be among the weaker clubs, but still it will be amazing. the athmosphere will be so impressive even for the bigger clubs like barcelona and real madrid. I can't wait!!!
I was so lucky that I attended this match. I am Dutch and a Feijenoord supporter, but I was in the German block amongst all the German supporters. I had no ticket and tried to buy my ticket in Germany on E-Bay. I managed to buy a ticket for 152 Euro, although Dutch tickets were sold for 500 Euro and more. I picked up the ticket in Germany, managed to get into the stadium, without anyone noticing I'm not German but Dutch. But I can speak German without any Dutch accent and no one ever heard it. Not the police, not the controllers in the stadium, not the German supporters, nobody. I had to shout for the German goals and pretend I was happy, and remain silent during the Feijenoord goals. That was not easy and completely surrealistic. But what an evening and what an experience. I was so happy that I had the guts to execute a plan like this, this chance I would never get again. When leaving the stadium I heard some of the German supporters saying: Finally we are German champion and that is much more important. Sure, they would also have said that, when they had won the cup. LOL!!! In the bus back from the stadium to the parking lot you could hear a pin drop, it was that silent, and I was the only one having big fun, but no one knew that. An experience of a lifetime !!!!
It was pity the Dutch didn’t qualify for the 2002 World cup. great team. funny thing is a young van persie and Robben could’ve been pick in 2002 World Cup if the Dutch got there, but the fact is it took van persie a while to get into the team cause so many top players.
@@user-fw3le4xf3j Robben still played at Groningen in 2002, while Van Persie had his first season in 2002 (debuted in the Dutch squad in 2005, mainly because of some troubles at Feyenoord from time to time and "Jong Oranje" had to qualify for their tournements back then and they needed him therefor). Way too early, both would have never played WC 2002.
@@SerjALovelyDeadBoy Maybe that is part of the reason why it was a good final. Imagine a final with two teams with great defenses: few scoring chances, attacks failing in early stages and maybe one goal. Whoever scores first wins the game 1-0. Then, in contrast, this final: exciting from start to finish, two teams that dare to attack, mistakes in the defenses, five goals. What a great game for neutral spectators (and of course for Feyenoord fans and maybe even for Dortmund supporters).
@@pablotupone4190 For me this was more special. There where alot of great teams in that competition that season. And to win it in Rotterdam on that special night in the middle of May - I don't ever think we'll see a night like it again in European football!!!
@@SuperTonygrant Couple months later Ronaldo (was playing in inter and loosing to Feyenoord in semifinal) was world champion in south korea and japan with wonderful brazilian team being top scorer. Inter at that time was very stong and Feyenoord managed to win in san siro.
Van Hooijdonk and Tomasson were simply too good for our old Jürgen Kohler. Too bad his great career ended with a red card in one of the most spectacular UEFA-Cup finals. Great match and finally a deserved victory for Rotterdam. I still wonder what might have happen if Kohler hasnt been sent off :( . Greetings from a german fan of BVB.
Kohler his end was Karma. He destroyed the career of a huge talented star Marco van Basten. More than a 100 attacks unpunished on his ankles. He has no place on a football field this butcher without talent. He got what he deserved! So sad that in those years idiots like him were defended by refs. This ref did justice to that!
Red card shouldn’t be given to Kohler. Too heavy punishment. It was a penalty kick already and you don’t give a player during his last game of his career and during a final a red card for that.
He did make a foul on a player who was getting a enormous chance to score, back then it was automatically red (before the rule changes from a few years ago). I would argue that even today It would/should be red as he was pulling the shoulder.
@@davidjo1241 But I think the ref should show some more mercy and give him yellow. It was his last game of his career. He didn’t deserve to end his career with a red card. And I say that as a Feyenoordsupporter.
Nu, 2022...come on Feyenoord! De eerste slag is binnen, 3-2.
The first UEFA Cup I watched on tv and since that magic and glorious night (8 May 2002) I being Rotterdamer at age of 16. What a Final with 5 goals! 😁😁😁😁
Feyenoord till i die!
Mark my words.
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAh, Feyenoord, I love you 4-ever !
Feyenoord put rangers out but it was a good 2 games.. big pierre and his 2 freekicks... plus that little Japanese guy ono.. bosvelt dirty player but effective
1-0 Pierre van Hooijdonk (33 min (PK)) 2-0 Pierre van Hooijdonk (40 min) 2-1 Márcio Amoroso (47 min (PK)) 3-1 Jon Dahl Tomasson (50 min) 3-2 Jan Koller (58 min)
Hopelijk volgend seizoen weer!
