I feel like all the synthy stuff on the OG fit the general vibe more, because it was such an industrial dystopian city. But this seems more ominous in a way
@@Zeta9966 The original soundtrack is much better and have more soul than the new ones and fit better to the atmosphere of the game. Don't get me wrong, I love them both and the new ones are exceptional orchestral versions of the original ost tracks but they are not the same.
Easily one of the best tracks in the OG and Remake. it is oppressive, dark, and you can sense that nothing good comes from these reactors. Brilliant composition and the nostalgia... delicious.
Lol, people choosing these garbage "dungeon" music which has literally been Japan's weakest point when it comes to music. Dungeon music usually sucks and is repetitive, dull and tedious, and this song fits the bill perfectly.
Ahhh man, Gotta say i love the OST for 7 remake but this one of the tracks where i prefer the original by a mile, The strings here are good, But it lacks that creepy metallic vibe that the synths had for the OG OST, Like i feel like they tried to make everything feel more epic on Remake rather than sticking to the aesthetics of certain areas that made them so atmospheric in the first place.
The mako reactor theme would suit a Shadowrun. Honestly, the entirety of early FF7 feels like a Shadowrun campaign. Barrett's a street samurai, Aerith is a shaman, Cloud and Tifa are physical adepts. Hell, Jessie dealing with the traps can be taken as her being the decker. Cloud's (fake) backstory as a former corporate stooge turned mercenary sounds exactly like a Shadowrunner's backstory.
The remake did well on a many of them, but this one was a real disappointment. The synth overlay was better placed, sharp and striking. It's not automatically lost by switching to strings, but the pitch change makes it bland, and doing away with the delay effect just feels like it's missing 2/3 of it. There's no way anyone would remember this almost 30 years later if they heard only this version.
You really lose the tone of the original with this orchestration. It's very disappointing because even though I think FF games have fallen off since the PS1/2 era I still want to give them a chance but the misunderstood aesthetic really removes any desire for me to want to play. I only really want to see how they'd visually make some locations work with the technology but that's about as far as I'll go.
I find myself disagreeing with a lot of their choices for instrumentation in the remake. Everything is too string-heavy and this track is a good example. It's missing the eerie synth vibe of the original, which really underscores that these mako factories are metallic, man-made abominations.
@@icyboy771z Ooh yeah, that's cool. Thanks for sharing. Usually I prefer actual instruments, but I really felt that the synelthetic sounds in the score vibed well with the retro-futuristic atmosphere of the game. It was an inspired choice of Uematsu to forgo redbook audio in the original and use the Playstation's native sound chip
@@ElectroTherapyFTSoul well my life is already miserable and people hated me. Only thing that keeps me sane is playing this game. Seeing people just saying shit about this game pisses me off.
I just got back from the FF7 Remake Orchestra World Tour and this song was by far the stand out song for me. Those swelling strings in the the first minute sounded absolutely unreal live. They were like ghostly entities slowly passing in and out of reality.
