Could's "cool" is his best line in the game. It perfectly encapsulates the "Enough weird stuff has happened already, and I don't have time for this shit" attitude.
cloud and tifa's voice actors are so fucking good, afaik they (and sephiroth) are the only non-voice actors they were TV actors, so you get a more subdued and less "theatrical" performance that you dont usually see in gaming let alone JRPGs
@@whitewolf3051 That's too ruthless. If you don't visit the right area, the game just passes Yuffie by and you won't recuit her ever. And Vincent needed you to do a list of very specific task to unlock him which involved back tracking to areas you would otherwise have no reason to re-visit. 90's games you really had to use your wit. Or you'll miss out on so much.
@@whitewolf3051 nah, locking you out of recruiting an entire party character just cuz you go to an area out of order is not something a new game would or really should do, you'd have to rewrite entire scenes to rid them of new character development and diologue
@@whitewolf3051 Both Yuffie and Vincent were optional characters added in near the end of development, it's why in OG they don't have a ton of character building and back plot compared to the rest of the characters.
@@murrowboyShe has a set encounter rate on every forest terrain on the world map, with the highest chance being the areas outside Junon. Vincent basically just required the combo lock puzzle in the Shinra manor which gave a summon materia as well (Odin I think) and the basement key, though getting Death Penalty and Chaos was INFINITELY nicer than Yuffie (and Barret's since they both have the cutoff of the Midgar raid) since she requires the Turks to be active to start the Wutai subquest.
If she was ACTUALLY optional in rebirth that would be crazy since she's SUPER powerful IMO. In both gameplay and dialogue, she slowly became my favorite character and is never leaving my party... EVER.
@@cashnelson2306 nah those are take it or leave it for me too. They just really captured the overconfident teenager in her dialogue, and she knows ninjas are cool as hell too. I just feel like she has a lot more personality than some of the other cast. For example Tifa is almost always “the perfect girl” she has like no character flaws which makes her less interesting to me. Similar deal with Aerith.
3:22 Looking at the items & weapons she had originally planned to steal? I think Cloud noticed & had an idea of what was going through her head, but he looked aways so that Yuffie wouldn't noticed that he noticed.
Yuffie is easily the most versatile character in the game next to Cloud if not more so, its hard not to have her in the party to swap to because shes just that good
Sure, they had to make her versatile for the Intergrade portion but it does make sense as she's prepared to solo it up in most of her gigs. And then remind she's a ninja by attempting to assassinate Rufus, not bein' far off the mark.
Yuffie is defintiely a highlight in a game thats stock full of them. I love her character and her voice actress plus as a fighter she's easily top 3. My team of cloud, yuffie and tifa is a powerhouse.
It's one of her original lines in the original. She calls cloud that when first meeting him. In fact, a neat little *almost* Easter egg is that all of these dialogue choices are the original ones and yuffie was only recruit able if you choose very specific ones in a certain order. If you choose the same order, they're the ones that get yuffie's max relationship points in rebirth. It's a neat little throwback.
No she’s the worst character in any rpg game I have ever played, I can’t stand her annoying voice. She has the absolute most an option is dialogue that you could possibly write for anybody. Seriously every time I hear her talking I’m just wishing I could threw her out of the team.
In hindsight, with modern graphics, I kinda feel like Yuffie was an inspiration for Rikku in Final Fantasy X. Somewhat similar types and personalities and even a lot of how they dress is very similar (both thieves as well)

The Tiny Bronco was repaired at the end of Rebirth right? Let's just fly with the pink plane instead. Barret dropping the f-bomb - That's foul language, it's bad. Cid abusing Shera - That's misogyny, it's bad. Cid smoking a cigarette - That bad for health, it's bad. Palmer rammed down by a truck - That's reckless driving, it's bad. Cloud doing CPR on Priscilla - That's pedophilia, it's bad. Yuffie calling Tifa "Boobs" - That's sexual harassment, it's bad. Sephiroth leaving bloodstains all over Shinra HQ - That's terrorism, it's bad. Dyne leaving dead bodies all over Gold Saucer - That's terrorism, it's bad. Sephiroth impaling Aerith's stomach - That's murder, it's bad. Dyne jumping off the cliff - That's suicide, it's bad. Cloud and gang stealing the Highwind - That's theft, it's bad. Yuffie must have stolen all of Square Enix's marbles they need to be so politically correct these days.

I think the developers did an incredibly good job with Yuffie in this game. In the original I never used her and actually found her a bit of annoying, relatively unimportant character. Rebirth did brilliantly portraying her as the endearing kid sister of the group, stronger than she looks but occasionally dopey too. IMO the perfect balance to empathetic Tifa and mystical Aerith. Fantastic.
Yuffie is the best magic user behind Aerith in OG. Best team comp for discs 2 and 3 imo is Cloud, Yuffie, and Barrett. Make Yuffie your materia slave, Barrett is your tank with cover-all, enemy skill, etc. and give cloud long range, deathblow, 4x cut (I think that's what it's called) etc. and it's gg for most bosses.

I love how they pay homage to how you recruit her in the OG game, basically show no interest whatsoever and she joins you anyway… until you set foot in Wutai just to steal all you materias
I pushed the story to get Yuffie as quick as possible that was about 14 hours in. I rolled credits at the 116 hour mark and had Yuffie as the pary leader in combat whenever the option was there. Her gameplay is lightning in a bottle and she's funny she's a gem.
I know she joined the party despite constantly saying no, but I honestly fond it kinda funny how all she had to say was that she wants to be in on the party, rather than trying to talk herself up.
@@whitewolf3051 The original required following a guide to answer half a dozen questions correctly, before Yuffie joined your team. If Yuffie doesn't join your team, a significant chunk of content will be missing from your game experience.
Someone recently told me they didn’t consider her a secret/mystery character because he would have found her before Junon so therefore she wasn’t a secret and she was in the manual.
at 3:23 look at Yuffie she was totally checking out the Meteria of my whole party this pitch is trying to rob us later i can tell in part 3, she thought we wouldn't notice but we did we really did
If she were optional, they'd either have to make her an almost non-entity in cutscenes, or do two different versions of every cutscene after her joining, and two different versions of certain entire sections of the game. It'd add way too much budget bloat for far too little gain to the game's quality. The original's lack of voice acting and relative lack of character development (not saying there isn't any, but it isn't near as much of a focus as it is in the remake trilogy) means they could afford optional characters, especially given the "drag and drop whoever happens to be in your party, and give them one or two lines" nature of most cutscenes.
So her joining was mandatory? I thought the whole point of Yufei and Vincent was that they were optional, and could be passed up if certain actions were not met (especially vicent), that guy was in a room you could have easily passed up because it didnt stand out.
Is a ninja. Announces her arrival and gives loud speech. Repeats her full name amd where she is from. Wears possibly the flashiest outfit of the group. Yup, she will be super useful (Yet she ends up being a versatle DPS machine)
Yuffie is an execptional character, its awesome how they brought this character to life in this game. But only her, almost every other character. FF7 Rebirth is likely the best FF game I have ever played, at least for the modern era.
Considering how much they changed the reasons for Yuffie joining the group, I wonder if in part 3 of the remake they will keep Yuffie's betrayal or not, I mean this scene here 3:24 makes me think so, but all things considered If it happened in intergrade I really have doubts.
I think they'll keep her "betrayal" but change it a bit, I can't picture playing a chunk of the game without materia it'd be way less fun than it was in the original... I feel like Wutai will be her big turning point where she'd rather help her friends than her country. With some of the things we've seen from wutai in Rebirth I wouldn't be shocked if she becomes less patriotic when she returns and sees godo and "sarruf" and all of them
I don't think they changed her reason for joing at all. So much as there now able to actually include it canonically. I remember reading that Yuffie was only included in the og because some team members really pushed to keep her, but because of deadlines she (and Vincent for that matter) were relegated to optional only. It's why neither of them are in any of the FMVs in the OG7.
@RaifSeverence and then they end up having a spin-off game for just Vincent because of the positive reactions to him! Kind of cool to see characters (eventually) come to life because of fanbase feedback. We're all an integral part to these characters' stories as well. If not for the internet, I truly think these remakes would never have gotten made, or at least not this masterfully.
I think she'll steal the huge materia instead as it doesn't affect gameplay. Wutai has seen significant changes compared to og Square are going all out to give Yuffie a great story this time out.
I think my favorite part of this interaction was when she challenges Cloud, he grabs his sword handle and she realizes she just picked a fight with a literal super soldier that swings around a sword that’s bigger than her.
this is really funny to me cause back when I played the original I missed Yuffie so I never even saw her in the game even once so to see her begging cloud just reminded me how I just kind of ditched them in that field they appear in dang
😂 yeah cause everyone going back and remaking old games cause back then people actually cared to make a good story and characters 😂 This is why all new squares enix RPGs arent as good. Final fantasy 6 prob has the best cast of playable characters in ff games but nobody's remaking that 😢
Yuffie is the original “annoying teenage party member” trope that has since been a part of future ff games. Rikku, Sophie, Penelope, Hope, etc. are a direct result of Yuffie - for better or for worse.
