You have a good chance of winning without needing to restart every round for a strong hand every turn. My strategy is to skip the first 2 rounds and maximize points gained on the 3rd round as you can have your complete hand by this point. Rounds 4 and 5 are up to you but you probably won't win rows.
The luck-based part comes from the chests you get for winning a row per round. There are specific cards in each round but drawing them is where the luck part comes into play. This strategy doesn't care too much about this part.
Gameplay -
Skip Round 1. Play the two Cactuar cards on the +2 tiles then skip the round (They aren't that useful in my opinion). Round 3 you have your entire deck in your hand.
Tonberry King buffs its points by 2 and Skeeskee by 1 when allies get destroyed. The idea here is to summon the Mindflayer and have it eliminate your weak monsters. When the weaker monsters are eliminated they should be able to draw another card into the hand due to their effects which increases your fodder. This is how you build up points.
Round 3 -
Begin by building your backline of Tonberry King x2 (or 1 as I did here) and Skeeskee.
Sandhog pie should be put in the bottom row so that when you summon the Mindflayer in the middle, it will get destroyed and buff the health points of Mindflayer.
In your last turn, you should use Gi Nattak on the middle Tonberry to transfer points to each card above and below. The points aren't distributed, instead, the number Tonberry had is given to each card giving you even more points. The issue is, that you can potentially lose the middle row because of the amount of points you drop. The risk is your choice and you need to calculate the odds of losing, but I would do it regardless every time.
Combo tip - Amalgam, Moogle Trio, and Party Animal.
When your Amalgam gets destroyed, you draw Resurrected Amalgam (RA) in your hand. Once you have 2 in your hand, play Moogle Trio at the bottom tile to wipe an opponent's card on the top tile if they are 4 or less. You can then place the RA on your opponent's tile. Doing this will potentially destroy another card in your opponent's middle frontline if it is 2 or less. Place a second RA next to the first and they will eliminate each other. The result will buff the Tonberrys and Skeeskee. You can then put the Party Animal on the opponents' side and it should be safe from being destroyed.
YOLO Rounds 4 and 5 and hopefully you win by a few points.
