FF7 REMAKE Ending Changes EVERYTHING! My Thoughts and What I Originally Wanted in the Remake 

You know, the first time i saw the ending from the remake i was really confused and kinda angry in a way, thinking they were ruining the story. But then after time went by and i thought more about it, the more i love all of this. I can always play the original game if i want to relieve that story again. After playing the remake i realized that i care about these characters more than the story itself. Seeing Cloud slowly fallin in love with Aerith and opening up with her, warming up to the Avalanche crew and start caring about random ass kids ffs, i started realizing that i really dont want the characters to suffer again. I dont want them to cry when Aerith dies, to never remember Zack and what he did for them and damn, i even want them to remember Sephiroth wasnt always a psycopath. I think that deep down what i really want in order to be able to close the FFVII chapter for good is for the characters to finally have a happy ending. And knowing there is a small chance we might actually get that is so exciting, even tho i still think Aerith is gonna die. In the end, if everything does go down exactly the way i did in the original then great, the original was amazing. But if the story DOES change and we actually have a chance of saving Aerith and whatnot, then im gonna be godamn happy i will be able to see Cloud finally fucking smile for a change, and that what i really want in the end. A godamn happy ending. Guess i just wanna be able to close this book on a happy note after all these years.

Watch some theories and ultimania facts now. Many mysteries were already answered. Your mind is gonna be blown. It made me LOVE the ending. Especially 3 videos by Sleepezi (ABSOLUTELY mindblowing) and Dropped Frames spoilercast with Maximilian. It explains who the 3 whispers in the end are... Loz, Yazoo & Kadaj. And Sephiroth is post-AC Sephiroth. Initially I hated the ending, but now I stan it hard. Also, in my opinion. Aerith still has to die for the impact. That made the OG game that good. Remake means Sephiroth remaking the timeline. This game is actually a sequel. Lifestream white & black confirm that post-AC Sephiroth travels back in time through lifestream.

I really love the game, what really worries me is how they will provide the next chapters, via DLC or another game, or we'll need to buy another console. But other than that, it's a really wonderful game and thr changes are great because it's still inside the storyline as you said. It doesn't matter who will die, it will continue to be inside FF7 world and it's amazing how they adapted everything.

I just started my first play through of the original FFVII because I absolutely loved this remake. And I really see why people enjoy this game especially as an avid JRPG player. I can’t wait to see the path they take especially that ending with Zak, I loved his appearance in KH would be awesome to play the original owner of the buster blade.

I was upset at first. But once I played to the end myself I understood what they were trying to do... it wasn’t what we all expected but I get it. They just should’ve tempered everyone’s expectations a little. We thought we were getting the same game...better graphics.

This is from the Weekly Famitsu Issue No. 1224 - an interview with Nomura. For some context, the conversation leading into this begins with Nomura explaining how he came up with the artistic designs for the VII main cast (in reference to the original FF VII): " Inteviewer: Was the Aerith’s shocking death scene also confirmed at that time? Nomura: I suggested to Kitase about having either Aerith or Tifa die, and it was decided that we’d go in that direction. Interviewer: Were there two heroines from the outset? Nomura: No, originally there was only Aerith, and Tifa was added as another heroine later. To make up for Aerith dying, we needed a heroine who would be by the hero’s side until the end. Plus with Aerith’s death, while there were characters in previous “FF” games who lost their lives, we wanted to try a different approach. By bringing out a ‘sense of loss’ with Aerith’s death, we also wanted to portray the theme of “FFVII” which is ‘life’. " So the decision to have Aerith die was solidified before Tifa was added to the game. I think the reason those lines of dialogue exist is for debug purposes, or because the lines were written earlier in development. Aerith having a spot at the end of the game is probably just an oversight if I had to guess. Also, the seven second theory was very popular when the remake first came out, but if you read the description for the level it clearly states that Sephiroth is referring to the meteor. As in, there are seven seconds until the meteor falls. I feel like the devs confirmed this at some point, but I can't seem to find anything about that right now. Also, I believe the Japanese voice line is more explicit in the meaning of the sentence. I hope this doesn't come off as offensive or combative or anything! I love your content! I just wanted to clarify this stuff for you.

I think it was a bold decision for square to develop the remake like this. It was easier to just remaster the game, and probably just that would sell well enough. Overall, i have a good feeling of what they're doing with the remake, there will be things i like more in the original that might play different in the remake, but as long as the new story is good and the gameplay is good, I'm fine.

I guess I was a bit naive to think that the game was going to end with Aerith's death. But I still think Aerith will die. Maybe in a different way. Sephiroth did say, "Your suffering will make you stronger." I guess that doesn't guarantee Aerith will die, but Cloud suffers from regret of her death. That's why he says in AC what he wants most is to be forgiven.

Your breakdown might well have saved the game for me. I am just at the end of the shinra highway escape and have been disgusted at the story since the train graveyard. If your theory is right I might actually give a damn about where this is going. Otherwise, the whole barret thing along with the weird avalanche deaths makes no sense.

btw.. the remake isnt the same game as ff7 :P The entire story is what made the original game, changed the battle system and just cuz there are 3d models and areas that look like ff7, doesnt mean its the same game. I enkoyed the remake but i always thought the only reason ff7 needed a remake was cuz it was b4 square got used to the ps1 graphics and it looked "bad" so a graphical update woulda been nice like look like ff8 or somethin or 10. But i think the lego graphics is what gave the game its charm... i dunno im ramblin.

Narratively speaking, I thought Remake was phenomenal. Even as a standalone title and not comparing this to the OG, every character is fleshed out immensely in ways that weren’t possible on PS1 hardware. Mind you I still think the OG is and always will be worth playing now and when the entire Remake is finished, and it’s still it’s own complete unique experience. With that being said, the voice acting, the environmental storytelling, the interactions with major and minor characters, and all the opportunities to express these character’s personalities were done masterfully, and I couldn’t praise Square Enix enough. Now as far as the future for the Remake, this only makes the OG have even more of its own place and title. I hear a lot of complaints fearing over the Remake being the new “main” timeline but clearly the existence of the original game is literally a plot device for the Remake. I personally think it’s genius and Square Enix has used every opportunity that modern hardware provides to make this game great. This is definitely my GOTY, maybe just behind Cyberpunk 2077.

Also we are the watchmen of fate and i actually enjoyed that part of the game.
