5 FF7 Rumors We All Thought Were True 

What are some rumors you remember hearing back in the day?

My favorite game of all time. Don't care if it didn't age well graphically.. it was the music, storyline, atmosphere, magic system, and the characters that did it for me at the time. I've never played anything better as a kid. I'm glad to have grown up with this masterpiece.

Took us months to get through this when it released at the time, I had maxed out characters and still so much to uncover because the internet didn't exist and we had to figure it out for ourselves. Those times were the best and why I look up nothing about a game I play.

I live in the UK. Even I heard about the “you need to visit the sick guy in Midgar to revive Aerith”

I think my favorite "Reviving Aeris" rumor was that you needed to level up and max a revive materia with the Buster Sword (it could have been changed over the years, but I remember reading the buster sword), go to her house and into her bedroom to use four tissues (that you win from the Battle Square if you don't pass the whole thing) so that Cloud starts crying about her. A few text boxes pop up of him regretting not protecting her, then his party members talk and console him and tell him of the 'resurrection' spell they could use. Because apparently there's a 'hidden fourth spell on revive'. You go back to the church, have Cait Sith with you, go in and you see her ghost with the kids, the kids see Cait and want to play with him so the kids and Cait leave you with the ghost. Aeris' ghost tells him of the spell and to go to the Ancient City. Once there you're at the same spot where you enter the waterfall area after inserting the key. Upon entering, Cloud would say a few things and place the revive materia on the pedestal, where it then glows, breaks and shows the image of Aerith telling him to go back to the church. Once you go back, she's really there tending to her flowers and rejoins your party. I remember finding that a few years back and hoped it would work (like we all do), but deep down I knew it was a load of shit haha. Sounded pretty convincing tho, ngl.

Great vid! One day, I'm sure someone on youtube will pronounce masamune correctly... one day. I kind of like how everyone pronounces it the way they read it as a kid, though.

Hidden Cow Level and Cheese Weapon are another two of the wilder rumours I came across in my childhood internet romps

This was a game from the era where game developers would put so much effort into a game that it was worth more than its cost 10 times over and we still talk about it today (even with a remake out!). Now most games are held off in development purgatory or rushed out unfinished and we forget them soon after. In my opinion, this game stood the test of time because our imaginations filled in a lot of the gaps and since the world was so well built, it was easy to dive in. On another note, I always felt the ancient city was under utilized so I kind of (wanted to) believed there was more to do there... like... when cloud looks at the light and says something about not understanding it... or that vine and hole in that one screen that looks like you should be able to access it? Just so many things to get the mind wandering... Loved the vid. Subbed.

what about the phoenix down on aerith immediately after she died, or the cure/revive or that trollzee youtube video on getting aerith in your party by going to the church and her telling you silly THIS IS HADES LETS ROLL HOMIE

I never heard any of these rumours, I didn't even know having your own Chocobo was a thin to many, many years later.

I remember getting in weird forums websites looking for tips and tricks to complete all the quests. I may still ahve some of them printed somewhere with my own notes.

Only one I never heard was the chocobo one and fighting onyx weapon. All the others I remember hearing about. I tried the revive Arieth one and whatever rumors I could find to revive her. I remember a rumor where u had to be at a certain level and see the flashback at the mansion and then go to the reactor in Gongaga and Cloud's hair would start to turn black and then u could play as Zack.

I was on the big FF email group with the dude who claimed he was from Square. Around the same time, someone posted several doctored screenshots from FFVI, where Gogo cast an X-Zone looking spell on themself and transformed into Golbez. It was so cool, I held onto those for years.

Would you do a video on what the best lethal and/or useful materia combinations, with weaponry included, in your opinion? That'd be super cool

There is a glitch to get aerith back into the party. I think you can do a (very difficult) glitch to skip the death scene. There is also a thing called Yuffie warping to get aerith back as well

No no...to safe Aerith one has to win the Super Sweeper item from the speed Square and use it at the Gongaga reactor. Another way to revive her can only be achieved in the Japanese Version of the game. To do this you have to interact with a clock on Kalm. ...ah yes. Sweet rumors. And back than we believed and tried all of them. 🤷🏼‍♂️😀

Long time ago in about 2001 i got to go to a brand new high school with a state of the art computer lab with dial up internet... okay, it was state of the art at the time. I had already moved on from FF7 to star Ocean 2 but this was around the time I was really figuring myself out and finding out that I was a lesbian. I came across an old forum post that said that you could revive Aerith but first you had to get both Aerith and Tifa for the Gold Saucer date. How convenient that a forum dedicated to GL would know this 🤔 The way to do it, so the story goes, is that you have to keep your attention balanced on both girls, in combat and out. And since I'd been playing SO2 and relationship scores can be affected by who you fight alongside this made sense to me. So you have to exclusively keep a party of Tifa and Aerith and you have to position Cloud in the middle of the party. If anyone needs healing the girls should heal one another. The story goes that if you do it right both girls show up on the date. In the play Tifa saves Aerith and kisses her while Cloud just stands by. In the gondola ride the girls will sit together. Finally the date will end with Tifa and Aerith going to one room together whileCloud goes to his alone. Anyway on disc 2 you take Tifa to the guy in the cave who gives you mithril and she will talk about her love for her friend and the guy will give you a flower. When Cloud returns to the party you're supposed to go back to the city of the ancients where Tifa will lay the flower by the pool Cloud left Aerith's body in. You then go back to Midgar, to the church, and Aerith will not show up as a ghost, she will materialize and be real and she'll be playable again. And yes, i was just dumb and gay enough to try it. Till i got to the date and I realized that the whole Cait Sith spy keystone theft thing is a pivotal plot point and it interrupts the end of the date. Then i felt like a fool. But it's okay because have you seen how they are in the remake?

Some of these rumors seem so damn stupid looking back on it now. Its like how did we think some of these were real

The rumors I knew was if you refused to attack dyne the real father of barret's kid then he would kill barret and replace him on the team. The other was if you used aqualung or leviathan on ruby weapon it would harden the sand and he couldn't use quicksand on you.

Its sad but we all wanted to revive Aerith. But if she does not die she cannot commune with the lifestream and the ancients. She has to die. :/

If I was a 90s kid I would have flexed on all the other kid that I beated all the weapon's

ok one fact that is true is that u can pretty easy get Aerith back on disc 2-3 with difrent save files you make in the playthrough. But only works on pc as far as i know. And its with yuffie warping its even a youtube video how it works and i can confirm that it works, So to get Aerith back its not a rumor u can do it.

i haven't played ff7 for long long time at first i thought what a crappy train shooting game until i realized it was ff7 minigame lol took me 1 minutes to realise it...

i hold that opinion too. The greatest game ever made.
