FFXIV - Castrum Lacus Litore Raid Guide 

Fun fact, if not enough people go up to face Lyon, he will pull up extra players. Happened to me today and scared the living hell out of me!

I have reached rank 15 without having a chance to even attempt this yet, every time it pops too few people queue, or too many are already locked into other CE's. I don't understand why there isn't an option to queue from duty finder for this

Unfortunately, nobody wants to help me to save mikoto.

My only complaint is that this isn’t on the DF...it so hard trying to get a full group to go :(

This is terrible. I can't even get into Castrum because no one, for very good reason, wants to run it. But even if I could, these mechanics are insane. The first boss alone is a whole encyclopedia of esoteric bullshit they expect the entire raid to memorize or fail BEFORE running it. How does anyone actually complete this?

Worst contet in the game right now, you need to wait and hour to spawn. And they lock the relic behind it. I tired to find an instance where more then 20 people want to do it, and basicly it end with wipe somwhere. It would be good idea as a duty finder instance. But now it's just a nightmare. So if it this shit at patch week i can't imageine how people will do it later. Basicly no one will be able to get Shadowbringer relic after a few week.

Can't even finish the quest, contend is dead as fuck.

I just got to rank 10 today and registered for this, but only 7 people wanted to do it, they just left after 2 minutes. No one wants to run this content and people like me that just came back from a break can't finish it. I really don't understand what square was thinking.

Fervid Pulse (+) on Dawon is the worst. figuring out what direction Dawon is going to be facing when he jumps to it is just really gross. I wish it would be better signalled which direction he would face. So much mettle lost to that attack and that attack alone.

Getting enough players in for a good run has been difficult, but it's an absolute blast once you do get in.

Super helpful guide. I haven't ran this since Week 1 so having this on hand was useful. But I got a funny story for ya'll. We get to the final boss after a few hiccups and the party I'm in is the only one with 8 people in it. We get volunteered for Lyon but most of us have never fought him before. We all agree to split the party so people who do know his mechanics can join. So I leave the party. But my screen turned black and I found myself back in Bozja. Turns out, I confused the party menu with the duty finder menu and I fucking left the raid. Absolutely big brained. I'm just going to run 5 CT and pretend like I beat it :))))

THIS is the kind of raid I would like to see more of in the game.

how can people can play with all the shit in the center of the screen, I usually have all the things in the corners of the hud and enjoy the character and scenery

Heya haps. You mentioned that the colossus spawns and then its basically just game over. I noticed that this was not the case, I casted death on it and killed it right away and we still lived like 5 minutes pasted that (top was reaaaaaaaly slow was about a 10 minute difference total)

So uh, I actually should get back and raise my rank, I'm R5 now.

It's really the first time that I feel like they don't plan content well. I am not interested in the Relic, I just want the new hairstyle and to do that, I need to unlock Delubrum Reginae, and for that, I have to clean Castrum and it never fills up. If they really planned to attract players to Bozjan, they did very badly

This was extremely fun they should do more of these I really enjoyed this battle mainly because it actually felt like a proper battle

All I wanted was the cutscene. Fuck this!

Great guide but unless you were there on the first month, it’s pretty much wasted. Queued up and I was the only one participating. Left and quit. Abandoning bozja for sure.

Cant get enough people to do it...

Finally spend some time in Bozja and JUST got my first Castrum. 18 people went in, someone early pulls bottom, top immediately wipes, everyone just leaves ....... I have never been more disappointed in this games community.

This event is stupid on SE part. Why design content that will guarantee 35% of the player base can’t do. Sure savage only 2% do it, but 100% of the players can unlock it and fail at it. You can be gods gift to FF14 and if no one wants to do it, you won’t. Burn in hell Castrum and the 17 tanks out of the 20 players that joined and wasted 5k mettle and 2 hours.....

Would be nice if people actually bothered to run this. Every time it pops up, there's only between 21-30 people willing to run it.

the question none answer: how to check when the castrum gonna appear?

Looks cool but i dislike most of this cause you have to wait hour/s to get a change to do this, meanwhile you got 12 minutes to learn the fight or lose and have to wait again, how is that fun with a timer?

Got to 10. Only like 20 people signed up for it. I played bottom. We got the boss to 1/4 hp. Then we wiped because top wiped. I can see why no one wanted to do this

I made the biggest fool of myself in this raid. Came crawling to youtube so I dont ever shame myself like that ever again. I think thats the most times ive died in any instance

The real challenge is getting a group together.

For last boss, just noticed that successfully completing the top add also gives all players pruple damage/defense up buff. And there's no enrage so the boss will repeat the last phase til the CE ends or he dies.

This is a nightmare people leave after the coins so new players dont get to beat it. SE failed designing this part

If you're far enough away from the pull in mechanic at the first top boss, you don't get the bleed. 5:52

Somehow im tonberry, but we not getting enough players for this raid. But this sort of raid is so cool!!! Maybe next nier raid will be like this?

FYI Castrum pops 60 mins after instance start AND 60 mins after the last Castrum ended.

Pretty disappointed that these raids are part of questline. Pickup groups just have a hars time and finding myself on RU-vid more then playing, it's ridiculous

It's 2023 and people still cry to kill the first boss pair at the same time ... yet you stated actually what happens (adds spawn over and over) if you kill one early.

I recommend using a deep essence/essence of the bloodsucker especially if you don't have a premade party with healer I've done this with as few as 10 people so yeah

Casturm can spawn while another Critical Engagement is under way. Which will catch people off guard. And probably lead to people just leaving casturm because of people not have time to prep proper compositions.

Super fun raid. But damn is it hard to see what is coming from Adrammalich if you forget to turn off everyone else's spell effects.

I just want my dancer relic weapon. This looks so hard and the wait for it is annoying 😪.

Getting into this in the first place sucks. Wish the devs actually respected my time

Big note: All of these deaths, if you do die to any of this--that's lost mettle. This also--and I could be wrong but going off what a friend told me who had done it--doesn't award you any mettle for doing it. While this may not be super hard, deaths are stupidly punishing and and it's easy to get them if you're not aware of what you're doing. Blind Bozja is just bloody mean, to be entirely honest.

Fire orbs in the second fight are utter bullshit. I die even if I don't move or attack. I'm melee, get knocked back by water right before fire, so i cant even attack if i wanted to, and still get killed by fire.

did this instance today, it was hard to get enough people only on 2nd try could achieve victory, but at least I got a lotta mattle 4 this weird raid

if you're watching this in February as someone new to Castrum. For the love of god pop elixers, its free damage. before you enter the duty. I've only lost to people not having the dps to kill.

I went to this dungeon for the first time as SMN and I had zero death! ZERO DEATH!!! That would be my luck for a year

I coulda used this before my first run lmao. I had tank priviledge so I managed not to die so much but hoo boy this was more difficult than I thought it'd be. Didn't help that communication wasn't 100%

Do you happen to get an augmented item to upgrade one of the Resistance gears for saving all 6 prisoners? Cuz having to farm this for almost 3500 Coins is ridiculous otherwise.

no matter how many times i’ve done this, i still can’t tell in which direction dawon will land during obey when he does the cross-shaped AoE, and i end up getting clipped a lot

On my second run, I didn't see a single fire orb. Had 2 sets of water, one earth, and all the rest were ice and wind. Pretty sure it is 100% random.

did this 3 times over the weekend and enjoyed it immensely. like a lot of people i wish more raid content was designed like this instead of the Trials+ we keep getting.

First time I went in, died a lot, but cleared it. Second time I went in, people died a lot, we couldn't go past the #2 Boss. Granted our healers were the first to die every single time, so there's no way we can do it with no healers lol. They were pretty nice floor decors. One thing that did make things easier is limiting the amount of effects to just your party, I found that especially on 48 people raids it is a life saver. I was having trouble finding the orbs, once I limited the effects it was like night and day... They need to add this to the duty finder raid list and add it as part of the roulette... it's super hard to que for this, either full parties or no parties at all.

Jesus christ i didn't expect this to already be so in-depth. I thought it's best not to re-subscribe because it's "just bozja" but this indeed looks pretty nice to do.

Kinda feel that Castrum is the first raid we've had since Alexander. What we call "raids" in StormBlood and ShadowBringers are no different than trials. I hope to see more content like Castrum and who knows, the return of proper mainline raiding in 6.0

This really reminds me of the Heart of Thorns expac in GW2 meta events. It would have been great if this entire raid was a fate in the open world or at least in bozja without the need to go into an instance.

I am definitely passing on this. I do fates in other areas for the relics, so I do not need to run this. The gear is meh at best. Not worth the hassle.

I miss MTQ, they were actually concise and informative rather than some dude talking aimlessly and skipping over half the actual important stuff for 20 minutes.

It's amazing how mrhappy can always make a casual content guide that has maybe 3 minutes of material last 20

Am I missing something here or is he not pronouncing the name correctly. Lyon is pronounced "lee-on" as in the French city Lyon. He keeps saying the name as Lion 🦁. (Yes it's a pet peeve of mine, not pronouncing nouns as they are meant to be pronounced; I recognize it's a problem of mine and am working towards resolving it.)

What quest in the main encampment you completely gloss over the important shit like unlocking it and what it does. with weapons any of that. and then you spend wayy too long talking nothing this video could have been half as long

How to get into the raid is a challenge for me. NO people are doing this!
