another cool thing with fantasia now, you have 1 hour in game grace period to re-adjust your character for free after a use, maybe in case to edit minor changes you forget/don't like, like voice usually.
Fun fact, there isn't a "softening filter". That's just the normal game graphics. The reason that putting it to 99 makes it so sharp is because changing the setting to anything below 100 causes FSR to "activate", and FSR itself comes with a sharpening filter. The downside to this is having FSR "active" causes a bit of a performance load, as well as some buggy graphics in some specific places. An alternative is keeping it at 100 and applying some sort of external sharpening like with Reshade or the Alt+Z Nvidia filter. That being said these kinds of settings affect everyone differently so it's probably fine to stay at 99.
@@MedievalMarty when i turned it on i by accident did it on the pier in the new city, and i noticed the water changed drastically, but it wasn't the water, i could see the sand texture under it clear as day! same goes for grass and other foliage, you can see a huge difference i've notice there.
Wow yeah i tried it too. I'm one of those who spend five million hours in Group Pose, and i was sure it would do nothing trully noticable. But no... it looks so clean at 99... kinda hurts to go back to 100, now...
If you have an RTX card, just use the nvidia overlay to add a sharpness filter. It's the best the game can look without relying on a reshade, and without the need for FSR downscaling.
fyi if you go to a calamity salvager they have an option “exchange spectacles” where they give you facewear versions of glasses head gear you’ve previously obtained.
Was looking for someone to have mentioned this yet. Pressing "X" removes the names and makes other players un-clickable, making it easy to select quest NPCs.

Everything I hear press X I'm full of cringe. Everyone has remapped layouts and that old solution to bound 'hide nearby players' to any button is off. Finaly it's solved thanks Yoshi
An alternative to sharpening for Nvidia users: Geforce Experience ALT+F3 game filters. Set the Sharpen (NOT Sharpen+) to 100 on both sliders. Want it a bit crispier? Decrease the "ignore film grain" option. This way you get the superior DLSS, with the added sharpness, without any performance loss. If you want to really up performance, however, you can go to nexus mods and get the DLSS/FSR/XESS mod for FFXIV. You can select presets, like any other game with the mod.
If you're the kind of person who stands too close to NPCs; may you never roll higher than a 1 for loot, may all your parties end in a vote for surrender, may you never win a housing lottery, may you always fail at cacpot and minicacpot, may a Ufiti always follow you and fling it's dung at you, may your free company drift apart, may you never get more than 1 line in WT, may lalafells spam emote you in your dreams, may your taco always spill its contents out of the shell as you take a bite, and above all, may your favorite NPC perish canonically within the plot.
Is the mount leaning when you turning working for other people? It worked the first day for me and I loved it but when I logged out for sleep and then got back on it was gone… I’m on PS5 and I’ve seen some comments from other PS5 users having the same problem.
I would add something if you use NVIDIA DLSS. The setting below called "Frame Rate Threshold", put it at "Below 60 fps" or "Below 30 fps". Never "Always enabled". Because it will try to reach the highest possible FPS your screen can do and it will lower your graphics settings to reach it. If your game doesnt look as good as you thought it would or the Anti-Aliasing doesnt seem to do much. Try this. I essentially played without Anti-Aliasing during launch because every time I entered a cutscene it removed it and I only got it back if I turned DLSS off and on again. Just realised today that it was the Frame Rate Threshold doing it. Got it on 60 FPS now and I finally can experience the new AA.
Idk what these comments on Nvidia is about. DLSS straight up is just better. Try AMD and look at trees from a distance and see the flickering. DLSS has none of that.
How grindy is it? I remember defeating this vampire boss who divides the room into 4 parts so often I could do it blind. Or this murderer tree with the triangle walkways. Cool bosses, but after a while it got boring.

Is there any way to let Square know about ideas for new classes? For the next class they make, I would love if they added a class that runs on stacks for all their atks. And the stacks are like ammo was when MCH first came out. No combos, just you have ammo you use and a helper pet or robot or familiar that makes more ammo as you fight. As you level up the class you get more stacks. You get all the skills you'll ever have when you hit 50. But from 50 to 100 all those existing skills level up to do extra effects. Like canceling enemy casting, speeding up allies casting, raised critical, extra chance of back to back direct hits. Etc. as you use magic ammo, when bullets break they spread their effects. But those effects only last a short time. And a gauge you have for the class allows you to spend that gauge to extend all buffs or debuffs. This class would be like a mix of healer and a tank. Low on damage and speed but high on utility and require practice and planning. Not just spamming. I call it, the Ammo Ace.
I'm debating switching to Lala for Dawntrail, since I refuse to buy Fantasias but since I got it for free and still have that one from the MSQ I might give it a shot for this expansion.
I mean who ISN’T champing at the bit to use their free fantasia to change into an awesome Viera with their new awesome hates and ALL the additional glamour plates you now have to make fantastic new glams you can come up with You want to look your best with being an emotional support puppy for the most obnoxious character ever in the game, and be a side character in your own story
too bad they changed all my character looks. enough to make me quit after playing from 1.0. still had all my free fantasias from 2.0 on ion my inventory. if i wanted a change i would have made one.
If you only made changes that can be done at an aesthetician, put in a ticket for it; if a GM is feeling benevolent, they may give you a Fantasia. If you made ANY other changes though, even if its just switching the skin tone one over, you are SOL.
Fuck dont give people stupid ideas. Dont put resolution to 99%. Your performance takes huge hit no matter the rig and it will look good only on centrain elements. Use reshade for sharpening.
@@MedievalMarty I'm joking, I wish I was skilled enough to play BLM. Tried it and never got good. I always wanted a mage pet class. But the closest thing I got to that was MCH after the dumbed down SMN.
The soft filter is there for realism and natural light. With the sharpness turned to 99 it makes the game look like borderlands with a black line around everything. Your character looks fime but the environments look fake af with it like that and trees that are like 4 miles away look unnaturally sharp. Just my opinion
I used the free fantasia to switch to a female hrothgar because I think cat's are the coolest pets & i still have the original fantasia from completing a realm reborn.
If you don't want to hide players gathering around a quest giver, you can use num lock 0 (default setting I believe) to target closest npc, this will select the quest giver if you're close enough. I use this also when navigating menus. Num lock 0 to target npc, and you can even use num lock 4,8,6,2 too navigate menus of merchants and num lock 0 to confirm if you feel super lazy and don't wanna use a mouse.
If there was ever a piece of armor that they should double-dye at some point, it's the Uraeus Coat. That thing just looks so good on EVERYTHING. Every single race, every single class, and goes well with every single other armor piece, but you're forced to combo with a red undershirt no matter what.
I really want them to make the Shisui Joi items dyeable at all. And other currently non-dyeable items. Though I suspect they won't because they paywalled the dyeable versions which was pretty greedy of them. But it would be super nice if they did.
There are, yep! Fairly big ones anyway. Though I'm hoping for even more styles, but some of them are big and round and nerdy, I'm using one like that for my Pictomancer glam.
Me neither but i still have 4mil mgp. Just do the weekly fashion report and thsts already 80k for nearly nothing. Lists can je found on Redit or other Sites. Also you get vouchers from Wonderous Trails which is a good source to level your classes.
I still find the lack of headwear for Viera and Hrothgar amusing, maybe reach out to some of the more prolific modders that have fixed that issue. Yoshi Pls look forward to it.
I turned the 3d resolution down to 99 and my fps went from 37ish to 41ish. So i was like huh... Then set it to zero and im at 60. So im going to be the oddball going with 3d resolution of 0

Wasnt there supossed to be a Feature to for quests where you have to Type Something in the \s chat? Or for beast tribes if you need to craft something? Dunno how to explain it but i remember the devs talking about it ( so you automatically go to the right recipe for crafting )
The calamity salvager will only unlock the facewear slot if you already had glasses in your fashion accessories. Because it's actually obtaining a piece of facewear that unlocks the slot, and if you didn't have any, like me, it won't unlock that way. You have to obtain some from somewhere, like the gold saucer.
def gonna try the 99 scaling because with everything maxed and scaling on 100 even tried the nvidia dlss but it all feels a bit more fuzzy while it was really sharp before this update :< hope this fixes it for me want my sharpness back
Question if I use the fantasia but don't actually change anything do I loose it? I'm starting to dislike the horns on my aura so wanna change it but don't know what's available lol so yerrrrr I don't wanna waste it and not be able to use it

RU-vid compression does that. If you look really really close to his bunny guy face in the moment he hits apply from the 99 to 100 there is a very subtle change to the image. It is more significant in person.
Here‘s a noob question: I noticed that the majority of players is running around in casual gear, at least in towns. Do they actually equip that outside combat, or is it combat gear glamoured to look casual?
i'd say 1 hidden tip as the 99 3d scaling isn't on the patch notes the rest is all there, just read... hidden feature that everyone should know is holding X on your keyboard will stop all player interactions no matter how many are on top of a npc, chest, anything, and you can click in it no problem.
For the quest giver NPC: The default key to hide player names was "X" on keyboard. Makes it easier to click on the NPC, especially when people stand directly on them. Automating it is a good upgrade.
