FFXIV - Dragonsong's Reprise (Ultimate) Spellspeed BLM PoV (2.17 GCD)

We cleared on 2.41, but now it''s time for the opposite - super speed. 2.17 is the fastest you can go right now!
Hoping this can provide with some insight on the spellspeed side of things. This clear wasn't super optimal and I clipped unnecessarily a bunch, so definitely room for improvement.

Overall I think it's slightly easier on the crit build especially on Wroth Flames. Nidhogg (P3) is slightly easier on crit as well.

Wow, is Transpose to AF -> Paradox -> F1 really worth it rather than just fast casting F3 when you don't have firestarter? Seems you do it multiple times here

AFAIK, it's slightly weaker than standard in itself, but it gives you higher chance to get a Firestarter proc, which then would enable a line stronger than standard next.

it's worth it specifically to fish for a firestarter, but it is less damage on its own

could you explain what constitutes "difficulty" when it comes to casting speeds? like why is crit "easier" than sps?

When you have a lower spellspeed, you can cover more distance when moving after an instant cast. This makes certain movements like Wroth Flames easier to accomplish with fewer casts required.

hey! I noticed you dont even use Thunder untill Ultimate End of P2, is it not worth in term of potency for the opener and after Strenght of the Ward?

Ive done the math and skipping thunder until ultimate end (at least casting the same spells I did this pull) result in around a 200 potency gain. However it's definitely mana tick reliant in the opener at 2.17gcd. So not super reliable (I got the ticks I needed this pull though). So, not that much of a gain and honestly not super important given that there isn't really a dps check in this phase

Is it a dmg gain to transpose then swift/hard cast F3? even in crit build?

Not really its more about the thunder proc and whether the boss is going invulnerable or not. It’s up to you actually, it depends on the thunder proc. You decide whether to swift fire 3 after trans or hard cast at ice 2 before. You can utilize blackmage’s cast>recast feature to maximize thunder proc.

As for whether if it deals more dmg, if we fire 3 at ice2 we can 4 fire 4. If u fire 3 after trans its only 3 F4 You can run a simple calculation based on its total cast time and total potency. The crit/sps doesnt matter unless you are so slow (below 800) that you cant even cast 4 F4 when you cast F3 at ice 2 If you are that slow, then its for sure dmg loss

i feel like this explaination is beyond what lily was asking for. if ur holding firestarter prock, lily, then its always a good idea to transpose out of ice and cast a free F3. if you dont have a firestarter proc, its much more complicated and i recommend just watching eksu's guide where he talks about non-standard lines. it requires a lot of setup and can be a huge loss if u transpose when u shouldnt.
