Not for me, it feels like I can finally fight him for real rather than the mess that he was and technically he wanted it to.

Considering he knew we've beaten him once, this wasn't a fight, this was a pair of friends using the BBEG's machinations as an excuse to enjoy ourselves

This time we were fighting to free his mind from Athena. And this was (or so we thought) a version of him from before he became our world’s enemy, so freeing him was more of a happy occasion.

@@enlongjones2394 it's funny cause both a true, from each other's point of view. He knew we'd win anyway so he could have fun, and we knew we could win, which meant we could have fun doing it. It's actually kind of the perfect inverse of our interactions with all our close Ascians up till now where it was both sides not Knowing each other's views and relationships that lead to tragedy.

I love how playful he sounds in that first line. This whole fight has good vibes because you know he is just having a good time

Because whoever the last Azem was, however they lived their life, whatever similarities are etched on the depths of the soul, we’re ultimately someone else. To the Ascians, we are either the last Azem, or a mockery of their life. Our truth is that we’re simply who we are. One ending happened, and a new beginning followed. To be less flowery, Azem is part of who we are. But so is every life that the last Azem’s soul became in reincarnation.

​@@enlongjones2394 yea, especially with the deal about Hades "testing" WoL. Like, even if WoL succeeded at it, WoL is probably still going to axe Hades as they aren't the Azem Hades knew, per se.

Yep. “Transformation”, as the ancients use the word, refers to a technique where they essentially wrap themself in aether and mold a powerful body out of it. Not too dissimilar from the technique Ysayle used when summoning Shiva, when you think about it. The Warrior of Light was Elidibus instead allowing himself to be transformed by the faith held in him as a primal.

Yep, never knowing that the real one was standing in front of him at the time, the very friend he'd admired so much in those days in Amaurot. That's part of what makes SoS so painful, really. "This, I swore... to... someone. They said... and I swore... what?" That whole line is just... it makes my heart ache because it's a moment of *almost-clarity* where he realizes that he's lost something but can't quite figure out what he's forgotten. He forgot the *why* in his devotion to his task. It's like that old story I heard growing up, about crossing a wide water by going from island to island across it. Only, after long enough, only the island-to-island part remained and the actual goal, the reason WHY that was an interim task, was lost.

Honestly, it’s the saddest thing about him. He remembers little to nothing about his past.

Back in ShB, what I understood was that he actually was the first warrior of light back in ancient days, given that he was close to Venat and had a white robe (we didn't know back then that all ancients with an advisor role had one), that he was the one who inspired the figure that we see in that book in the Crystarium, with that same FF1 design. But him becoming the heart of Zodiark when the Final Days arrived makes this idea kinda odd, although the idea of being the savior figure remains, and in that same expansion we too have gone from warrior of light to warrior of darkness (and back(?)) so I guess it's not that incompatible. Plus his P11 mechanics merge both light and darkness.

What I find more heartbreaking about Seat of Sacrifice with P11’a introduction is this: Themis’s transformed state shares physical traits with both Elidibus’s transformation in the Seat of Sacrifice, as well as Zodiark. As the Emmesary’s job was to preserve balance it makes sense that Themis would exemplify this, and it shows in the fight as Themis uses both light and dark to fight you. The heartbreaking thing is that somewhere along the way, possibly due to his memory loss, he abandoned his duty to keep balance. On top of this, he didn’t do this contiously either, he was totally unaware of the fact that in doing what he thought was his duty, he had at some point abandoned his duty alltogether in favor of something else. Whether this was when he volunteered to become the heart of Zodiark (abandoning light), or becoming “salvation given form, mankinds first hero and its final hope” by rejecting darkness and becoming a warrior of light. In the end the Elidibus we put down in 5.3 was just a sad, depspot puppy we basically had to euthenise for the good of Etherys and the First. And the closure we got with Themis’s goodbye at the end of the raid serise made me cry, because in the end, we still preserved the balance, just as an Elidibus of sound mind would of been charged to do.

If To The Edge was sorrow and tragedy, Fleeting Moment is tension, joy, and nostalgia. Themis isn’t fighting for the world, and he isn’t *really* fighting for Athena. He’s fighting for himself, and you’re fighting to free him.

I would love a mix of this, Answers and Song of Hope play as they fight.👀🤩

Just got to finishing the raids tonight and I was just...this theme. This goddamn theme. The emotions as the music started. As he smiled. And than noticing every little nod to the Elidibus WE know the most. The nods that show us how at his core, no matter how different and fragmented he was. Themis was still in there. The multi hit stack is quite literally a light and dark version of Zodiark's! Like omg! Still not sure how I didn't die. A smile on my face and tears in my eyes the entire fight. Like Twelfth is a BOP that I need in the fc house but this theme? This is the one that's gonna stick with me from this set.

You should be half assing as much as possible, it's not worth it
