Thank you for highlighting those things! That is exactly it! White Mage's skill floor is lower because the basics of the role are much easier to perform, but once you get to optimizing, White Mage also has its own difficulties to overcome! 😊

@@CaetsuChaijiCh I've been a heal main since Omega, bounced between sch and ast for a while before finally saying I'm going whm this tier, I really wish I'd done it sooner as it's just kind of fun. Doesn't have to be overly complex to be enjoyable, and I've solo healed p5s and p6s just for the fun of it at this point

It heals more, easily, by far, it doesnt mean its braindead. I hate the people who say as such... theres been so much to learn per healer, but yes, whm has the simplest and most effective tools overall.

Going from AST to WHM was definitely alarming when I almost found out the hard way to watch my MP
@Scerttle
@Scerttle Год назад
I think the overall power of the healers come down to how well you can plan ahead: WHM is the most powerful if you find yourself reactionary healing and needing to pick up the pieces after a lot of pain has been dealt to the party. SGE and SCH are even more powerful, but only if you learn to precast and mitigate so you can avoid the majority of pain. AST is the most powerful, but only if you play 4D chess with precasting and PRE-precasting so the party can ignore damage almost entirely. Sadly I'm not gigabrain enough to use AST at the level where it shines brightest.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
I think that is an excellent summary yeah! 😊 And then AST also needs to plan their damage with card plays that optimally needs to be played extremely quickly and account for rng, so it gets very convoluted!
@joseruiz4075
@joseruiz4075 Год назад
Before I picked up AST which is my main now, I def played every other role in tank and dps, to understand damage rotation. I've always been a fan of micro managing, and love support class types in every game so AST just felt at home to be but I do advise for anyone who picks up AST to try DPS and TNK first so you can have a much better understanding of when to use certain abilities.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
@@joseruiz4075 That is really good advice! In fact, I very much recommend trying out as many different jobs, if not at the very least roles, as you can to get a broader perspective, even if you highly prefer a specific job! Getting the broader perspective can improve your skill at any job, by simply understanding how the other jobs play! Even something as specific as maining Samurai, and understanding somewhat how the Black Mage rotation works so you know how to play around it in party content! 😊

@@joseruiz4075 I think this is good advice for everyone honestly. Try out every role and see what their needs are. Hey, if Sage is what motivated you to try the role, and you found it fun to start with, thats all that matters! Scholar is my first and currently my main job for high-end content. I decided to start this game as SCH because i want to try out "shield healer" which was kinda new to me at that time, and the fact that SCH got a cute fairy. A lot of people asked me why I play SCH instead of SGE. SGE might be regarded as fun and 'easier' than SCH, but i find it less fun and less useful overall. I used to play SGE in the last tier, but switched back mid-tier because SCH just hit the spot. I cannot count how many time fully buff Adlo-Deployment tactic can completely negate the need to heal in certain mechanics thus saving a lot of resources and time to get into position. I even used it to take a tank buster. I just can't get enough of that THICC shield. Excogitation and Fae Union are perfect for tank busters. SCH also got a raid buff. Expedient pre-nerf was also extremely strong as the second raid-wide sprint that lasts 20s, making a lot of mechanics much easier than they should. Still, SGE can clutch heal a lot better than SCH imo, easier to get dmg reduction and regen on everyone too because no one want to stay inside Sacred Soil, pretty great mobility, and insta-cast shields required much less timing. If your co-healer died, SCH which relies heavily on shielding-mitigation, will run out of resources for raw healing. SGE, on the otherhand, is heavier on healing-mitigation so it will be alot better in handling such situation. I actually recommend SGE if you have background in Tank or DPS role and want to get into healing role but find WHM to be extremely boring.

I just finished leveling my WHM and as someone who has been unwilling to the point of idiocy to heal before, I find the job so much fun. I tried Sage, and while alright I just find more satisfaction in the WHM abilities. Most spells just feel awesome (Except Cure. It’s on the bara stuck into a corner). The job really feels like a white MAGE. Not just simply a healer with a few pewpew spells. Dungeons are immensly fun with double holy and assize on packs to open. The cc component on Holy makes it a great mitigation tool as well. It just feels so well rounded which is just what I like and I can easily plan for damage mitigations. The floaty quality feels very ethereal too even on my brute Roe male. I main tank otherwise so knowing how tanks work and play helps alot.

Awesome video! As someone who really can’t get into leveling WHM, I like the insight into its kit. I do want to mention though, I don’t really agree with SGE being easy to master. Maybe I’m biased since I’m a SCH to SGE convert. I say this because there’s a certain level of extra decision making and toolkit interactions that make it obvious when a SGE knows their kit vs watching one of the many “How to play SGE” guides out there. Though, it admittedly has a pretty low skill floor since you really can auto-pilot in dungeons as you said. For mastery, NOT managing their Addersgall is probably the most obvious offender. When that timer stops, you’re not getting MP recovery and my experience has been that burning the stack helps you stay afloat. This is like.. BASIC basic stuff that a SGE should know. I think Kardia swapping is a lot more important to SGE kit than people have decided. If we’re drawing similarities to Embrace, then it’s obvious that we should be moving it as intake demands. Likewise, SGE’s PvP kit requires it to have Kardia on an ally to shield them, making it integral to its gameplay. I think a lot of the ideas of PvP can apply to PvE and vice versa. (RDM for example benefits from the concept of balancing both black and white mana. In PvP this takes the form of the player choosing or applying effects from black/white shift.) Decision making in action is similar to AST, in my opinion, except it’s not centered around distributing cards. Naturally, it doesn’t require as much knowledge of others’ classes. For example, the aforementioned Kardia swapping is important, yes, but if you Druochole wouldn’t overheal and/or your addersgall timer is about to pause, getting value from the otherwise thrown-away heal is probably better. Kardia swapping off of the tank is pretty beneficial, too, especially during Raids since it opens the tank up to getting full value from a Taurochole (e.g DPS takes damage; either kardia swap or Druochole DPS. The time spent having Kardia on DPS means Tank doesn’t receive passive healing, allowing Taurochole to make fuller use of its heal component.) Likewise, there’s a bunch of other factors that make SGE mastery not-so-easy. There are basic things like using Haima to make Kardia swapping safer or prioritizing Soteria > Haima if *its your current Kardia target that needs extra healing*; more advanced things like timing Panhaima to mitigate 200p damage, expire to provide an Ixochole-level 400p healing, and potentially having the lingering 200p barrier provide extra mitigation. SGE even has niche things like converting EVERY safety/downtime Eukrasian Prog/Diag into extra throughput by snapshotting raidwides/tankbusters/any damage with Pepsis (30p when using it like Emergency Tactics bUt iN rEvErSe; 350p heal AND 100% of the barrier is consumed when used as a parry) I think that there’s a lot more to SGE than people give it credit for. The potent tools at its disposal has led most of the community to believe that there isn’t much potential to be had and, from that, haven’t put extra effort to get more value.

Those are a lot of great points, Zusuru! I myself also switched from mainly healing as sch, to sge, mainly due to a few select conveniences primarily related to kerachole, taurochole and instant shield spells 😊 I am willing to admit I may have underestimated the mastery difficulty of the job due to having a lot of experience with the toolkit myself, but I do genuinely find it more difficult to maximize the performance of ast, sch and even whm due to each their own difficulties and challenges 😁 Still, as I said, I do appreciate you sharing your perspective, as it also teaches me both some extra tricks for the job, as well as allowing me to have a broader perspective to share in the future 😁

I never finished leveling AST because it just seems way to complicated for the payoff. WHM is a very clean reactive healer and easy to play. SCH feels the safest to play. I can always have shields out and my faerie takes care of the small stuff leaving me feel like I'm never in panic mode. SGE is really fun and interactive. It can get really stressful if you have a WoW tank who spins the mobs all the time trying to dodge mechanics or if they aren't using their cooldowns. I'm still fairly new to the game, but I play SGE, SCH and WHM all in the current raid tier and love them all, but SCH/SGE are my favorites. Thanks for the videos, love your content!

The biggest issue with the SCH and SGE comparison is that SGE's Eukrasian Diagnosis shield is considered more potent by the game because of the Addersting gauge, even if the shield only has 1hp left. Because of this, it can never be overwritten by SCH's Adlo shield. Eukrasian Prognosis's shield is a different buff and can be overwritten by SCH's Adlo or Succor. So many times during roulettes and PF where I go as a SCH, get the prepull big Adlo shield on the party, and the SGE just puts their shield on the tank and wastes my shield or worse, puts a shield before I can use Deployment Tactics, wasting all those shield buffs and we actually have to heal after the first raid wide.

@@Phoenix-cc7xb Silent Dusk was amazing. Not sure why they felt the need to remove it. It really doesn't break SCH or anything. I mean, Holy has ALWAYS had a stun effect, which no other healer ever had (except AST's Celestial Opposition, back when it was basically their Assize)...so why take away SCH's interrupt? Just give something similar to the other healers. Oh well. Maybe one day.

They removed selenes toolkit as a whole with the release of shadowbringers. Remember, choosing Selene also meant no whispering dawn back in the day. So I think they removed it to remove the choice between defense (eos) and offense (Selene) just like they did for tank stances 😊

I started life in FFXIV as a Scholar. Finished the MSQ with Scholar. When I switched to White Mage, my first two weeks were a living hell comprised of wondering why I never had any MP, and wondering why everyone else in the raid was suddenly so squishy. (For the uninitiated, a Scholar's fairy does so much heavy-lifting that without it, if feels like everyone suddenly has half the hitpoints.) Still, now that I understand White Mage, it's easily my go-to for Savage and Ultimate. It's very difficult to kill a tank if a White Mage doesn't want them killed.

Sage is my first healer I learned, then astro, then white mage, then scholar. - Scholar has so many buttons including pet management that it confuses me at the beginning, also I feel the aetherflow limits what the job can do if you happen to run out of it at the wrong time. I am always anxious that the faerie heal won't reach the tank so I ended up just standing close to tank. - I found sage healing is pretty weak if needing to top everyone quickly, but overall fun class with lots of insta-cast and has cool futuristic aesthetic. - I enjoy astrologian a lot as it throws decent heals+regens and can act like a proper support class, so I feel more useful to the group. The card system is easy once you realised that blue outline = dps/tank, purple outline = ranged/healer. - White mage is my least favourite due to a lot of abilities needing cast times, and lack of skills variety so it's kinda boring. It's mainly big heals and that's about it... Overall I use astrologian and sage the most :)

I absolutely loathe the WHM, and do not use it since I got it to 90. The MP management (prior to lily abilities) made it a nightmare for me that I have not recovered from. The SCH or SGE is my go-to, but I still play AST for fun. The only thing I miss about the SCH is back when Energy Drain replenished MP instead of HP. It took some adjustment in my playstyle to compensate, but I was able to find a new groove.

Yeah it's fortunate that the lily situation has been fixed 😊 Regarding Scholar, energy drain actually used to give both! 😊 And while they removed the mp recovery from energy drain (500 mp each), they doubled the mp from aether flow, so you felt less like energy drain was an mp value proposition, and more just for the damage 😊 But I get what you mean! I also tend to prefer the barrier healers for most content!

Earthly Star and Horoscope feel like the Astro abilities that are the most difficult to figure out how best to use. I'd rack my brain over how to time earthly star for its heals and it actually turns out that using it pre-pull and keeping it on cooldown generally lines it up with some incoming damage. You have a 20 second window in which you can use it, making it surprisingly flexible. It also has the added benefit of putting its damage in raid buffs. It also compliments how busy your 2 minute bursts are. Having the earthly star down before raid buffs means you'll heal up damage without even having to do anything. Horoscope is a pretty weak heal, but still useful just cuz its free. Also should definitely be used if you ever plan on gcd healing. Pop neutral sect too and you can make mechanics very comfy on damage for only spending one gcd heal. The usefulness of horoscope and neutral sect is a lot more apparent if you do ultimates where there's a lot of downtime, but can still be good in savage. Also, do not be afraid to gcd heal, on any healer. Especially in prog, you're gonna want to gcd heal quite a bit. Trying to go without gcds before you have mit and heal plans, and before you have good gear, is just gonna cause wipes. Obviously you don't want to spam them but not using gcds is something you have to work up to. Watch any early clears of savage raids and you'll see plenty of gcd casts.

That is some solid advice, thank you for adding this Envinyon! Those tips about GCD healing are super helpful for all healers in general. Funny. The most complex healer made me adore the role when I first got into this game properly. Before then I played dragoon for a realm reborn because I liked the idea of jumping on shit...but the second I got to try astrologian I fell in love with this game. Healing my team and empowering them. Creating a massive shield to protect my team from party wide hits. Buffing my entire party for damage. Constant regens. Sure I may not do the most damage but what I utterly adore is keeping my team going and protecting them all while the gorgeous blasts of magic and stellar light surrounds me and my team. I've been healing as a Scholar (still in Heavenward) and it's quite underwhelming to play in open world. I'm sure it gets better at higher levels, but you basically just hit Bio, then Ruin x 1000 and eventually the enemy dies. There's just no attacks except Art of War which is a group attack and requires you to run into a mob of enemies to execute and the Aetherflow attacks are boring and not that's strong either. Watching this video and seeing that White Mage and Sage have the highest potential damage output makes a lot more sense to me now. I want to main a healer, but I also want to have fun in open world when healing isn't a need. I think I will grind to lvl 70 and unlock Sage. It's seems to have more of what I'm wanting. As a relatively new player, here are my takes: WHM: My main up until I got SGE. Big chonk heals are nice to have when you don't know the content well, and the stuns from Holy make WtWs a lot less stressful. When you DO know the content, however, the lack of preventative measures becomes apparent. You gotta love the thermonuclear blood bomb tho. SCH: I don't know, there's something about this that never clicked with me. I can't really articulate any specific reasons. Maybe I should give it another try sometime, but something about its skillset just feels... ehh. I _wanted_ to like it at least. AST: Look. I know my limits. I have neither the galaxy brain nor the keyboard dexterity to keep up with everything going on here. A fumbling, indecisive healer makes for a dead team, so I won't burden other players with my poor AST performance. SGE: My beloved. Lovely damage reduction via buffs, shields, and... "threat removal". But the thing that drew me to the job? The thing that compelled me to grab it despite only barely being done with 3.0 MSQ? Kardia. My monkey brain LOVES healing by going ham on the attack spells. I can see how people would see eternal Dosis spam as boring, but for me it just gives that delightful neuron activation moment. Healing in FFXIV is quite different from other MMOs, given that attacking is a very high priority of the job, and while keeping everyone alive is top priority, *healing* itself is sort of almost secondary to assisting with attacking! To get acquainted with this, I always recommend starting with Conjurer/White Mage because its kit is the simplest.😄 Since you started as a Lancer, you start in Gridania. Once you reach level 10 in the Main Scenario Quest, you unlock the ability to start the class quest for Conjurer, which happens to be in the same city. In the Old Gridania part of the city, look for the Blue Quest with a plus sign that is named "Way of the Conjurer", and simply start from there 😊 Astrologian is part of Heavensward, which means that you *don't* have to buy anything to play it, however, you need to complete all of A Realm Reborn's Main Quest to reach it, which means you will probably be at least level 50 by the time you can unlock it. On the same subject, Sage requires the Endwalker Expansion to access.

The scary thing about Sage is that you have to trust the healing from Kardia, and the damage reduction and heal over time effects from abilities like Physis and Kerachole to do a huge amount of the heavy lifting - especially in dungeons. You want to make use of the tank's entire HP bar and plan out your moves, and not try to shield them whenever the shield isn't up (some players try to do this, and tend to run out of MP trying). Sage's toolkit is extremely dependent on being used very efficiently, so if you toss resources and cooldowns at anything and everything, you are bound to run out of things. Naturally, this happens for all healers if you do that, but Sage (and Scholar) are significantly more in danger if they run out of cooldowns. I am not sure exactly what it is for you that makes Sage difficult, but you could try watching the guides I have put up more recently on Sage (both a level 70 starter, and a level 71-90 including endgame stuff), or you could watch the VOD from my Sage Duty Roulette stream to see how I play Sage :-) Starter guide: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-eIIxZU_x2sU.html Level 71-90 guide: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-X-qIQtApepI.html Short demonstrating Dungeon pulls for Sage: ru-vid.com52T4BFrOyNE Sage Duty Roulette Stream VOD: ru-vid.comGKIxmnHcxXk I hope some of this helps you so you can get a bit of time away from White Mage! ^^

Astrologians toolkit is surprisingly distinct from the White Mage toolkit, even with both being pure healers, compared to Sage and Scholar who have nearly the exact same toolkit in a lot of respects, just presented in slightly different ways. For that reason, I totally understand how, if you main Astrologian specifically, it absolutely would make it the easiest to play! This is true. Since Astrologian relies more heavily on people actually performing during the buffs it hands out, the performance of the Astrologian - damage wise - is entirely based on whether your party actually performs. Scholar sort of has a similar problem, where Chain Strategem only really is super useful if people make use of the burst time, and additionally, every time the Scholar has to spend Aetherflow on healing, they lose out on a bit of potential damage. Essentially, Sage and White Mage, who has the better personal damage, are much less dependent on their party really bringing it!

Diagnosis to get the tokens that are only usable by a spell that does as much damage as Dyskrasia. Sure it's useful for movement without having to get close, but what's the point in wasting time and MP for something that isn't stronger than other attacks? Edit: wrong spell lmao.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
I get what you mean. I think the purpose is that if they made it cost just MP and be a spammable attack on the move, then it would be identical to Scholars ruin 2, which naturally does significantly less damage than broil meaning it is always a dps loss. Choosing your spots and applying shields at the right time means you can generate the adderstings almost for free, and that means you have a ranged attack that (at max level) is equal to dosis in damage, and actually stronger than dyskrasia by a tiny bit, while being ranged and usable while moving 😊 Toxikon is a little strange, but it adds an interesting aspect to the job I feel!
@toodleselnoodos6738
@toodleselnoodos6738 Год назад
Honestly, I’d rather they just remove Dyskrasia and make Toxikon 1 the default AoE of the SGE. I personally hate they copied that part from SCH. Instead, Adder’s Sting should work like it does in PvP, upgrading Toxikon 1 to Toxikon 2. Except, I’d have Toxikon 1 be at the same damage of Dyskrasia, while Toxikon 2 deals the same damage as Dosis and Dyskrasia damage to those around it. Where do you get your Adder’s Sting from? You could instead make Dyskrasia a 1 min button that grants 3 charges of Adder’s Sting. So, functionally, it serves a similar purpose as Lilies, Ruin 2, and Lightspeed for SGEs, which is a way to maintain their full DPS during mobility and increased DPS during AoE. I’d also personally remove MP regen from Addersgall and instead tie it to Toxikon 2, but that might be too complicated despite being more DPS-oriented.

Honestly I will never understand the sage thing. I simply cannot keep the party alive with it during raids, and the only way to do that seems to be having warrior that selfheals every pull while I use all my mana and abilities trying to desperately keep the two others and the warrior alive. The worst part of it is that usually tanks pull much faster than the cooldowns on heavy shielding spells meaning that if you use all shielding on the first pull, you will likely wipe on the second one, but if you don't use them all, you have to make small pulls or wipe (vanaspati is the worst about this one)
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh 11 месяцев назад
While some tanks are not exactly helping, by doing hardly anything themselves, spacing out your cooldowns throughout a pull seems to work just fine in most cases. The instant sage has to stop attacking to spam heal is also a problem, because when you stop attacking, the enemies die way slower (yes, healer aoe is significant), so you need to survive for even longer. If you have reached level 90 with the job, you naturally have played it, but I don't know what advice to give because it sounds like you are pressing your cooldowns 😕

If you're trying to decide between sch and sge. Sage is just outright a superior healer and it's stupid broken in comparison. They have the burst healing of whm with nearly the same shield potential as sch but they also come with more and better mitigation options than sch and unlike sch, can run around while doing it. Oh a sch put out larger shields? It's ok because your shields take priority over scholars and you can erase their shields with the smallest of Eukrasian Prognosis any time you like! Dmg? Stomp sch into the ground and is on par with whm. Scholars cope on "oh but chain stratagem", cool but you bring basically nothing else to the table that sage can't do better. The only time sch is better is when you're in a static and you all know every aspect of the fight. But even then if shit hits the fan in the fight, sch doesn't have any emergency options either, unlike sage lol. That makes the chance of a team recovery much more likely on sage.

I know AST has more to think about than other healers, on average. But at 9:34, you throw two questions up on the screen: Is it better to play a ranged card on a melee DPS, than to play it on myself? Is it better to play melee card on a ranged DPS, than to play it on the tank? The answer to both of these questions is always, unequivocally yes. This is not something you ever need to think about, just card a DPS that isn't tanking the floor. Doesn't matter if you hit the wrong type. A competent DPS will always yield more gains from your cards than any tank or healer just by virtue of the way the roles are balanced for damage.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
If you assume all of the party members in your group are equally skilled - competent - then you can expect a tank to do around 60% of the damage of a melee DPS, or a Black Mage / Machinist, significantly more when compared to the more supportive ranged DPS. An Astrologian - as the example posed is in a dungeon context - will do do somewhere around 40-45% of any melee DPS, maybe a bit less even. In that situation, giving the tank the melee card for 6% more DPS is going to be equivalent to giving the ranged DPS 3.6% more damage, and as such, actually giving the card to the tank can sometimes be superior, since the ranged DPS would actually only gain 3% from the card. For the opposite end, the Astrologian will never be the better choice than a Melee DPS for a ranged card, if everyone is equally skilled. However, in most random dungeon groups, the players are not equally skilled, and this can go both ways. *Maybe* your melee DPS players are playing very poorly, making using the cards on yourself significantly superior. *Maybe* your tank is actually playing very poorly, making the tank undeserving of the melee card despite the above calculation.😅 Anyway, in all situations where it is crucially important, simply playing your cards on the DPS will serve you perfectly fine, but this was mostly suggested as a consideration when you have unbalanced parties, simply because the consideration *does* matter, even if only a little bit! I hope this makes sense! 😊

While cure 3 feels awesome to use, it has less area of effect, and does less healing, than Medica 2, so cure 3 is actually considered a super niche tool. If you watch the trailers for the game you'll find that the stand in character for the player character changes job regularly (in 1.0 i believe he was a bard? @CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
If your gear has a lot of built in piety that helps a lot. Barrier healers like sage work differently in that their healing spells are more dedicated to preventing damage than healing a lot. White mages mp management boils down to assize on cooldown (5% mp every 40 seconds) and thin air, which can amount to 10% mp per minute if you need it, but isn't reliably this strong, as at higher level, white mages that maximize their damage will lean more on lily actions for GCD healing, since afflatus misery means they are damage neutral (where medica 2 is technically a damage loss) Sage's mp recovery is that they get 7% from spending Addersgall every 20 seconds - 21% per minute at least. The difficulty for sage is resource management, the resource being both Addersgall, and other cooldowns, and MP if it really pushes you to the edge 😊 If you are interested in sage you should try it!

It is very awkward since while Scholars often use ruin 2 if they have to run somewhere, once a sage is out of toxikons, their best option is to put up shields. @nowaynoways584
@nowaynoways584 Год назад
Whm doesn't have mana issues. Assize is used on cd for dmg, not mana (its a wonderful bonus tho). Lucid dreaming should be used at 7-8k mana. I raid with low piety (526) and even chain ressing rarely causes mana issues when you're using thin air when available. The only problem you run into with mana is being revived with lucid dreaming on cd, however a mid-piety build makes this a non-issue. Sch is by far the worst for dungeons. This is due to the fact that many tanks either ignore their mitigation or underutilize it. Your shields are meaningless when the tanks health evaporates faster than a squishy dps. This often causes sch to scramble through raw healing which as a shield healer, is barely enough. Sch overall feels incredibly clunky to play, especially when compared to sage. While sage is much busier, it's tool kit flows much better than scholars and it honestly brings more to the table when it comes to raiding.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
Scholars and sages play primarily by sustained healing, which is often why tools like sacred soil are used before the tank is in danger. If you play these jobs like a white mage it isn't going to go well because white mage (and astrologian) have far greater burst healing. All healers have lucid dreaming, but only white mage has presence of mind, which directly increases your mp spending. Assize should be used on cooldown (did I state otherwise?) but it is still weaker than all other healer tools: Sch gets 20% per minute from aetherflow Sge gets 7% from addersgall every 20 seconds AST gets 5% from cards every 30 seconds, and Astrodyne contains a smaller lucid dreaming on top. Whm gets assize for 5% every 40 seconds, and thin air. If used in desperate situations, thin air is the strongest mp recovery of all (24% on raise), but in most common cases it's 4% on glare. Whm is the most likely healer to have mp issues, especially if you think you have infinite mp, but when played right with a group that does not need medica 2 casts regularly, or raises, whm has no issues no. But it is a fact that WHM has the worst mp management, and happens to also be most capable of spending mp faster than the other healers 😊
@nowaynoways584
@nowaynoways584 Год назад
@@CaetsuChaijiCh You mentioned that whm uses Assize on cd but it was for the wrong reason, it's not for mana generation it's purely for dmg. Mana and healing is just a side perk. While other healers might have better mana regeneration, it also doesn't mean whm has a mana issue. Honestly it feels like sch has a mana issue, from my game play and others. Even the balance recommends scholar against low piety builds outside a static for raids because of that problem. As for sch/sge healing. Sch is outright inferior in the dungeon setting and even prepping perfectly doesn't change that. If you have a bad tank or a team that's taking excessive damage, sge has a larger variety of abilities to work with compared to sch. edit: read the post after this, it's clear there's a huge misunderstanding in regards to assize. The discussion was fun and to ensure this doesn't go into a pointless back & forth, it ultimately just boils down to opinion.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
@@nowaynoways584 Right, the reason I say that Assize is used for the damage reason is because if it was for the healing or MP reasons, then newer players watching this video might believe they should *not* use Assize unless they need the healing or MP. You always need the damage, so taking the position that you use it for the damage is an easy (and supposed to be slightly funny) way to explain that it HAS to be used on cooldown. The argument that The Balance advices against scholars using low piety builds is not that important, because all but the Astrologian healer guides on the balance says so, just in varying levels of danger depending on who the author is. Sage is also advised heavily against low piety builds in the same way as Scholar. WHM instead of having a big warning label simply says the same thing underneath the build list. However, I will admit that using lilies is an aspect that I don't really include in my considerations of MP efficiency, and technically 3 lilies and Misery saves the WHM at least 1600 MP per minute. I believe my original assessment of WHMs MP issues were also from the age where Misery was a DPS loss on single target (which was the case until 6.1), which meant that lilies being free (and Misery too) was moot since you wouldn't use either if you could avoid it at the time. Combine this with using Thin Air on Glare (worst case), and Assize on cooldown and it equates to around 27.5% MP per minute if the toolkit is used effectively. So thats fair, that is more effective than both Scholar and Sage, so you are right, WHM is not the healer with the worst MP management, and by that token, that makes Scholar the worst. I did not notice this oddity though, because I don't feel that Scholar has any MP issues either 😊 From my experience, which involves a lot of dungeons, I do agree that Sage has an advantage over Scholar, but I feel like the difference in performance is very small, and that many players find Scholar to be a lot weaker than it actually is because of the weirdness of its toolkit making it difficult to grasp. For example, it is not unusual to watch Scholars sit at 100 Faerie Gauge and just not using it.

Each player finds different things difficult. If your first healer was whm or ast, and you simply decided to main ast from there, then the barrier healers sage and Scholar will seem very alien in their toolkit. The special thing that makes ast stand out is the card management which, due to being damage related mostly, makes it "part of" the astrologians damage rotation. @CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
Using cards is very straightforward. The hard part is the two minute bursts (and opener) where you want to play three cards, and divination, and astrodyne, and don't forget that you may also want to redraw some of the cards. Optimally you have around 1 second to decide what you want to do with a card, otherwise you may lose potential dps from it. And optimally, you want to play each card on the most effective job every time, which means you need to know that. None of the other healers have this level of activity in their bursts, nor this level of knowledge requirement to master their damage output 😊 Obviously in casual content, and even in suboptimal savage groups (which still will beat the bosses in most cases) you can avoid most of these excessive optimizations. But I still think it is a crucial part of mastering the job 😁
@The69Oskar69
@The69Oskar69 Год назад
@@CaetsuChaijiCh hmm I think when there was an option to "burn" a card by using queen or lord (which didn't ruin the 3 sign buff) it was much easier to decide when you want to use the 3 sign setup buff. Now it kinda feels like when you have them all 3 and draw a new card, you can either use the buff, ruin the buff or discard a card which sucks completely. No idea why they made that change because it makes actually little to no sense in my opinion and that is why I don't main astro this expansion because it is just frustrating to play because of this. Feels the lack of control what you want to do, you can have the buff ready very quickly but then not use it because it's not the right time. So before you need it you can randomly use cards without caring to complete the setup but then when you need the buff you can get unlucky and not have it because you can only redraw ONCE, which is insane.
@CaetsuChaijiCh
@CaetsuChaijiCh Год назад
Due to how redraw works, the probability of getting only one type of sign is extremely low. Even two types of signs is a damage gain to use, so this is why you generally just maximize the amount of astrodynes you can utilize during raid buff windows and things like that. Basically, ast played efficiently plays one card every odd minute on the dps with the biggest odd minute burst. And then three cards on the even minute to maximize damage bonuses during raid buffs. Essentially, in endwalker Astro focuses more on quantity of cards than quality. Back in the day you had abilities that could be used to spend a card to make the next card stronger, and then you also had the option to "dump" a card by turning it into lord or lady of crowns. The logical reason for the switch is that if astrologian needed random amounts of time to be "ready to burst", it would simply not function with the two minute burst meta, and would make ast have a difficult time staying competitive with the other healers. Ridiculous i know, but that is also why I have a video discussing that subject too 😊 But the fact that you have less options to choose from with your cards doesn't mean it is easier. As I said, the difficult part is timing the use of your cards much more strictly! 😊

You keep saying pure and barrier healers and that both types have both things. So obviously, there is no such thing as a pure healer or barrier healer.

The definitions of Pure Healer and Barrier Healer are defined by the developers themselves and has been a very real definition since the release of Endwalker. If you open the party finder recruitment tab, you will find that when choosing role positions, you can strictly define a slot to be only for a Pure healer or a Barrier healer, and similarly, a balanced raid team is best done with one Pure Healer and one Barrier Healer for multiple reasons 🙂 While they all *can* do everything, the key differences is that the Pure Healers have a lot more capability to convert MP to direct healing, while the Barrier Healers are more capable of repeatedly applying barriers and reducing damage. While everyone can do a bit of everything, only Pure healers have access to no cooldown powerful heal over time effects, while only Barrier healers have access to no cooldown barriers.
