As someone brand new to FFXIV - i've found glamoring extremely confusing and am always worried that I will do something wrong and lose something that I like . None of the other videos I watched said anything about the armoire, so i'm SO glad you did. Your video was so nice - no loud music competing with what you were saying and you moved through it at a nice slow pace so that it was easily understood. Thank you - great video!
You could always just make a macro "/Hotbar display 5" etc to show/hide different hotbars at the click of 1 button. I use this to show/hide my 4 Hotbars full of emotes/crafting macros/foods etc neatly behind 1 button. Also, nice video. Finally, a video I can link to people that won't scare the life out of them with the old "if you store it, its gone forever" narration that all the old videos have from the pre 5.0 era.
I had no idea how to use this thing until a friend of mine explained everything to me, and now I love mixing glamours together! It’s so much fun! Thanks for making this guide! :D
I have to say I REALLY appreciate the 'to the point' nature of your video. You explain the concepts well, you show where things are and how to do them, and it wasn't 15 minutes long! Kudos for making digestible content we can all use!
also if you create gear sets, you can apply a glamour plate to a specific set like if you have a tank glamour and have a gear set for say Paladin and Dark Knight, you can apply the glamour plate to both gear sets and it will automatically glamour the armor whenever you swap to it in a glamour approved area. just right click the gear set in the gear set window and select to apply a glamour plate, then choose the plate you want to use. now it will always glamour that armor to that plate, even if you make changes, it will glamour the change next time you swap to that job in a glamour approved area.
This was SO helpful! I’ve been playing ff14 for 3 years now and literally didn’t under the Armoire at all. I put everything into the Glamour Dresser. Omg such a waste. I knew you could store certain things in there but I didn’t think you could use any of the gear once you put it in there. I wanted to be able to use it from their just like the dresser if that makes sense. Thank you SO much!
I never knew there was a way to use the Armoire from the Glamour Dresser! I knew the rest, but that's a great tip, thanks! :D I would also point out - for anyone who didn't know - in addition to the "story gear" (which...I still am not sure what all that covers, as it covers some of the relic type gear but not others, it seems?) and seasonal gear, there's also a tab for achievement gear. So anything you've gotten from achievements like the crowns or level 50 challenge log rings, etc, can all go in there for free storage. And unlike putting things in the Glamour Dresser, the Armoire seems to have no storage limit and doesn't require prisims. Anyway, thanks for the great vid! Appreciate it!
Since I've been playing this game for a while now I've decided that the glamor system is one of the most cumbersome systems I have ever played just to color equipment, I guess I'm spoiled by Warframes way of coloring items, just pick an item choose a color done
you have to have glamour prisms and simply "store" the item in the dresser to fill up dresser tab, you can also sort by job as well, to avoid placing job specific pieces on plates or glamouring directly to your armor. you click on the item on the right, and convert it, and it will pop up in the left window so you can use it. also the inventory tab on the right, has a drop down window so you can select your armory chest but be careful when drawing from it if you have gear sets, since it will list _all_ gear even the ones that are attached to gear sets which will screw them up when you try to swap between them.
Btw is anyone else completely obsessed with Glamour? I love games where you can customize your character a lot so this is by far my most favorite game out there. I’ve never come across a game that you can make your character SO customizable. Literally is it almost impossible to come across another character that looks completely identical to you, obviously you will come across someone here and there that might wear the same top as you or something but everything else will be different.
Hey so, if I want to apply glamour to a current outfit and then apply it to a new piece of armor will it cost anything? Or does the glamour permanently stay despite changing gear? That’s what I’m confused about any help appreciated
Actually, I feel like you shouldn't be super surprised at how little it's used, especially with how crappy of an introduction the game gives it to the player. I clearly remember how I felt, because I was really super excited to see how nifty this Glamour Dresser feature could be for me. But when I got the Active Help, it is utter shite at laying things out clearly. I absolutely did not know you needed to have a prism on hand in order to convert an item into the dresser, and even the AH that was about the icons in the top right of equipment didn't say anything about this at all. Because of that, I could never see the control help underneath the Dresser or the Plates because I couldn't put anything into it, BECAUSE I WAS ONLY LVL 10 or some such, since the inn is introduced very early into the ARR MSQ. It's really terrible that I have to look up a video just to know how to use a feature. Everything you're saying in this video is completely new, and I wouldn't have found it otherwise. Edit: OMG neither did the Armoire Active Help make any fucking sense at that time, because I didn't even realized the top-right icons even existed! So everything in their flew over my head. Now I feel regretful, but at least all I threw away were just the low-level MSQ stuff
The reason why more people don't use the glamour plates is because they are confusing as hell. I'm currently still figuring out how to use different ones without them applying to another and...
dont know what you mean by 're-morph'ing but there is an item in game that strips armor of its glamour if you want to unglamour it to its original appearance. "Glamour Prism" to glamour an item, and a "Glamour Dispeller" to remove a glamour from an item.
What you can do is glam the item with the emperor’s clothes set from the Golden Saucer. That way you can “re-morph” the item with an appearance or its original but still glam it however in the future.
What about putting different glams on the same role but different classes. Can the glamour plates help with that? As in I have all 4 tanks at 80 but I want them all to have different glams. Is that possible?
you have 15 glamour plates, they can be whatever you wish them to be. you can use four plates and assign them each to a different tank armor set. though you will need to use the gear set option to do so, make a gear set for each tank, then apply a different glamour plate to each gear set, and just swap between the four. it should give each set the appropriate appearance. just right click the gear set and the drop down window should have an apply glamour plate option. just make sure you dont swap out the jobs while not in a sanctuary area, especially if you get new gear. though its only a temp inconvenience at worst.
make sure you didnt change the drop down menu in the glamour dresser window, you can change it so it only shows items for particular jobs. meaning if you have tank chest in the dresser but the drop down menu is set to only view machinist gear, the tank chest piece doesnt show up. the dye on the armor stays intact when you dresser it, and remove it.
Now if they would just let us apply galmour plates anywhere. It's one of those stupid things that's a restriction just for the sake of having a restriction.
"glamour dispeller" removes/dispels glamours from an item to show its original appearance. just have it in your inventory, go to your glamour tab and select "Remove" and done.
Every other mmo transmog system is sooo much better than this. Sure i appreciate the lvl of flexibility. But its just not streamlined or user friendly. They need to rework this whole thing imo. Love that its there mind you and the freedom we get, for free, to play fashion wars. It just is clunky as fook and you know it. It doesnt matter if you are pro at it and playing forever now. It IS clunky and ya know it.
Am i the only one that doesnt like this system at all? I love making glamours and love the gear styles in this game, but my god the glamour dresser is so tedious.
