This is one of the most beautiful and emotional moments in FFXVI to me. Clive calling on the Eikons and being cheered on by friends and family as he fights Ultima #ff16 #finalfantasyxvi #finalfantasy #ffxvi #squareenix #gamer
Fun fact when Clive’s dad says ‘Onward My Son’ it’s actually a response to the sidequest at his fathers grave where Clive promised him he would move onward with his life. Joshua’s “forevermore” was also a response to Clive saying he would use the phoenix’s power forevermore prior to the final fight with Ultima.
Something about Ultima is when he called on the Eikons he called on their abilities, but with Clive, he called on the actual Eikons. Ultima sees the Eikons as merely tools to be used while Clive sees them as allies.
I see it more as Ultima calling upon their primal nature, what they were in the beginning, but Clive calls upon their identities, what they’ve become over the long years Ultima spent slumbering. Just like how humans evolved to become their own thing, so did they.
Makes you wonder how he'd utilize the eikonic abilities of Leviathan after Rising Tide drops. Considering Ultima thought Leviathan was snuffed out centuries ago.
@@umitencho The whole true names giving power thing is a concept *much* older than anime or manga, with it appearing in old Egytian and Greek myth as well as norse and celtic folklore, probably other places as well that I'm not aware of.
@AcousticTinyRats its not supposed too. Ultima is calling upon the powers he made for thier intended purpose and meaning. Clive calls upon his allies and friends changing the meaning of each one to be less a tool and each thier own ideal
Makes this even more awkward when you realize that Ultima didn’t use Leviathans power why? He had it but didn’t use it even through he knows Clive doesn’t have said Eikonic ability.
@calebnelson58 Well, the logical explanation is that the DLC was made after the full game, so Leviathan wasn't added to Ultima because they didn't change anything of the base game. However, in the DLC Ultima calls Leviathan his "tainted fragment", which implies that he doesn't use his power because humans have been keeping it hidden for almost a century and so he considers it "tainted" and not worthy of being used by him.
Hearing all of Clive's friends and loved one's in this final fight brought a tear to my eye. It really made me feel as if they were right there fighting alongside him.
Most epic fight scene in the games, along with Remake. All the tye Titans against a usurper! Amazing. Hearing Clive's loved ones call out to him in encouragement! Especially Jill's "Together!" Perfect!
I’ve just noticed that Clive used all the Eikons in the order that he obtained them, outside of Phenix. Clive’s very own Avatar Cycle: Fire Wind Thunder Earth Light Ice Darkness (Water)
Literally best part of the game and was so worth the wait, the titan fist clash and the Phoenix Flames Of Rebirth attack at the end with the war cry is just everything 🔥🔥🔥🔥
This is the coolest shit ever. Clive and ultima using all of the eikonic abilities against each other. I was seriously hoping they’d do this and they exceeded my expectations. It’s something I always wanted to see in devil may cry, Dante using all his weapons against a tough or the final boss in a cutscene. I’m glad I got it in ff16 tho :)
They did say the dlc will add things to the ending so most likely leviathan will be added and the voice will prob be the person who wields leviathan in the dlc like a friend he makes in it but dies kinda like how cid forces Clive to take the power as he dies
Yeah I’ve seen a lot of people say they might add a cinematic clash, but I wonder where they would do it? Not right after odin cuz that leads into the next transition PERFECTLY, but also having it before his flames of rebirth attack might be weird too. We’ll have to see
How about "Tides uncascading" Then Clive shouts Leviathan! And the background for it is the Baby Waljas laughing and giggling to say to Clive "thank you my saviour"
I know people point out the eikons are used in the order they are obtained but they are also used in order of which characters have had the most impact on Clive. Close Friends in first three and relatives/significant other in the second three.
🎶 Step by step, we climb through the night to the dawn Hand in hand, we stride to the light, heaven-borne Step by step and hand in hand we march on All as one, marching together 🎶
Leviathan after the dlc: "SO I GET THE BIGGEST EMPTY SPOT ON FF10 NOW I AM GETTING THE SHORTER STICK IN FF16 WHILE ALL PF MY ORIGINAL BROS ARE IN 16 FUCK YOU SQUARE ENIX"
"TIDES UNWAVERING!" "LEVIATHAAAAAN!!!" and then they come at each other with two massive fuckin waves and then clive swallows the opposing wave whole like a cool ass fuckin tsunami because hes hench as fuck like that though that begs another question: who's gonna be cheering him on for that one?
It's a very interesting question. I wonder if when they said Clive gaining Leviathan powers would impact the final battle if they also referred to this moment. I am so excited to play this DLC
@@kaaliya82I was in the middle of New Game Plus on Final Fantasy when the Ultima DLC dropped after that, there was no mention of it at all so it's possible that they may not even acknowledge it then again Clive is getting a whole new kit so it's possible they may incorporate it into the final fight
Devs mentioned it would impact the final battle so I would assume so. I have wondered if they will return to the original idea of Ifrit becoming Diabolos. This was something devs discussed while developing FFXVI
Gav: Howay, Clive! Cid: Go on, Lad! Mid: Give 'em hell, Clive! Lord Byron: That's my boy! Jill: Together! Archduke Elwin: Onward, my son! Joshua: Forevermore!
I'm sure it's gotta be Waljas I mean come on, Clive saved him and Waljas expressing his thanks by a single baby laugh would be enough for Clive to overpower Ultima Since a baby's laugh can overpower any despair in life, kinda like what Clive is facing off right now
Anyone else other than me get bullied by this end boss? Only reason I won was cus of save check points in the fight where u get revived at that point with all your potions back. Bit of a disappointment end
@@kaederukawa1123 Little substance? This scene is full of it, if you think of it. It shows us that Clive is not fighting alone l, that his friends and family are fighting alongside him. It shows, just as he says, that he carries his brothers and sisters with him. To me, this is one of the most beautiful and full of depth moments in the game.
@@kaaliya82 I mean the gameplay. It is so shallow, there is no real skill involved or depth. It is a combat system designed for casual gaming, aiming to shock the nervous system with huge dopamine releases. I admit it is truly impressive in terms of visual and sound design, but at the end, it is just button mashing until the next ultra cinematic session starts. The game even rewards you with "cinematic attack" bonuses on screen. It completely defeats what the interactivity of videogaming is, imho.
Its all cool and all but he deserved a happily ever after. Also I'm kinda sick of protagonists dying at the end of ff games. Jack in strangers of paradise, noctis in 15, clive in 16, and zack in crisis core which are essentially the last 4 titles we have gotten. It can be meaningful and impactful as an ending but it has been overdone.
In fairness, Jack didn’t die. He became Garland. And as for 16, it really depends on the interpretation you give to the ending as devs have said. You can interpret both ways. Who could tell about that last fight so it be in the book, but Clive? He was the only one there.
@@kaaliya82 the end scene of sop is the garland boss fight where the four heroes kill him starting the time loop that exists in ff1. As for 16 from what I saw, it was very clear to me that he succumbed to the bearers curse on the beach at the end of that game.
@@kaaliya82Plus, its so in character for Clive to pen a book in Joshua's name. He took Cids name to honour his movement, and he probably took Joshua's to honour his sacrifice
I wanted to like this fight but it was so mid xD and fire beating fire had me mashing the button with such a lack of enthusiasm. Id have much preferred not having the powers cancel themselves out as you use the same vs same approach.
