We will get the Honda engine running on the FG100 tiller and then the tiller part does not work. We disassemble the tiller and discover why it does not work. Serious lack of lubrication has ruined the gears.
I got 20 years out of mine. I hear a lot of people complain about these machines, but if owners actually followed the owners manual and serviced the transmission every 6 hours with fresh grease like Honda says to do, they would last. I rebuilt the carburetor once in 20 years.
WOW thanks for saving me the time, money and aggravation in trying to repair it. Mine has the same problem and on top of that fumes black smoke within twenty seconds after starting the engine. I guess straight to the dumpster....
I can't argue against that. The worst application for this engine I have seen was on the mini water pump Honda made for a couple of years. In this application where it is constant load and high RPM's, I have seen them melt the cam shaft.
